For what's about the gliders (glider pilot here!) try the Stemme S12 TMG. Unknow to most simmers but it is a fantastic (and hard to fly) extreme glider with 25 mt wingspan and an efficiency over 50. There were two on my RL airport (now only one) and I have flown on both. It is very interessant for MAFS2024 because don't neeed a tug plane and once in flight you retract the small propeller in front of it and become a very impressive glider. Stunning to see. In RL very hard to fly, you must anticipate every movement, react really slowly (it is heavy) but you can make really wonderful flight. It is very, very cramped inside but fortunatly this is no problem in the sim! The DG1001 is a greath aircraft. Never flown one (wery few are buildt) but always flew his smaller/older brother, the DG505 (there are two in my club). Excellent wiew, very spacious, easy to fly for everybody, a little heavy.
About the satellite map data, it isn't as simple as "get me more recent maps". It's got to be planned, paid for, photographed, processed and then companies like Google, Microsoft or whomever have to buy or lease that data. Someone I know working for a mapping company for building in remote areas was telling me the process of getting new data is crazy complicated and you sometimes just have no choice but to wait until updated data becomes affordable or even available.
I understand, I've captured photogrammetry with drones. But it's not like it doesn't exist for Sacramento, CA. The example I showed has been correct on Bing maps for roughly 8 or 9 years. But it's not a big deal because I can easily get it with Google, or Apple maps like I did before. All the photogrammetry is complete, up to date and higher quality with Apple and Google.

I absolutely love the more gamey and casual nature of this "simulator". It has plenty of procedural study level stuff for people who never get to fly in real life and want to simulate the feeling of being a pilot going through all the checklists and doing the preflight inspections and everything else, but I am a real life pilot. While some real life pilots may enjoy using this to keep up on procedures and things like that, I am the opposite. I've been flying for about 20 years, private pilot airplane commercial instrument helicopter and I have flown a ton of different aircraft. When I play, I love the fact that I can go and play and skip all of the procedural minutia that can make flying tedious and boring. I get to just hop in an airplane and go. I don't have to worry about airspace, I don't have to worry about radio calls, I don't have to worry about extreme weather, I don't have to worry about preflight inspections, aircraft checklists, etc. etc. Because my life is not actually on the line. Regarding the helipads, they don't just seem to be generic. Don't know how exatctly they did this, but I checked my small hometown's hospital helipad, and it is very accurate.
That’s interesting! Either they made a ton of them for it to inject or somehow builds them based on what it sees on the map. I need to check on more of them.

I find it hilarious that they allow you to build your avatar, change pants and shoes et.c. but then there is no option to actually show your avatar in the cockpit in first person. Same immersion breaking invisible body as before ;P I get it some people are used to this, and don't want to see the pilot's body but to me it's just unnecessarily strange. Especially in VR, actually having a representation of your body in the virtual environment helps your brain "map" and transfer into the envronment. "Hey, i see my legs, they move when i press the rudders, i must be here" kind of thing. I had that happen in other sims
It's only to allow you to see the avionics in the aircraft without having to constantly move the camera around your legs or arms as they're holding the yoke. You can see your body when walking around outside the aircraft. They should, though, make it a toggle for people who want it, though, or yes, it would work good for VR since you aren't using a mouse to constantly look over/around legs and arms.

beyond atc keeps losing connection to the sim, usually during taxi, then when u reconnect it sends you to a different rw, so annoying. There was a launch patch but needs another. @@brandonchappell1535 Thanks for the reply, okay but then its perhaps better to wait and see what MSFS does about the ATC (and hopefully the AI voices in general).
The default sounds better, stays with you more. I always prefer VATSIM if you can. But even that, you won’t always have a controller, but they have automated clearances now. I’m not too familiar with good or bad AI ATCs.
@@TheFlightSimDeck Thanks for the reply. Great then i'll check it out. Perhaps wait a month or so before buying the game tough, seems like the game needs a bit of work.
Under graphics / Advanced Settings, scroll to the bottom and it has an option for Road vehicles. You can play online with friends, you just have to be on the same server. Go to settings / Online and check the multiplayer box and below that make sure your server matches theirs.
just because 1 area is 10 year old map data, does not imply every part of the map is that old You can turn off the gates in Career Mode Re testing i think the bigger concern was capacity testing as opposed to concentrating on the placement of hands on a wing
Also, where can I turn those gates off? I double checked and I have all of those gate and taxi assists off in the settings. Maybe it stops after PPL is reached? I can't find an option in the career interface for it either.
@@TheFlightSimDeck Flight sim not loading for me right now, but's it's the one that turn off POI's. On controller it's the left bumper and left stick in. You can still complete the mission without the gates,
Well I don't know if I will spend on this ? I was on Xplane for a long time and eventually migrated to MSFS 2020, I get great pleasure from 2020 and have a good PC. I don't think I want to start all over again ? Even now the graphics and scenery for 2020 is stunning, whilst not overloading my PC. I will wait a few months and see which way to jump ?
Probably a good idea. 2020 is great, everything that you've been doing you can continue to do on that sim. I can't same the same for 2024 right now. It's more limiting if you expect to continue your 2020 experience. There is way too many setbacks at the moment. They will fix them as time goes on, the pressure is really being put on them now.
The scenery/helo pilots will be dissapointed in AI autogen popons below approx 2-3000 agl. 2024 has gone down the AI rabbit hole. For example at 12:24 the scenery looks ai and artificial, similar to xp. I think that people that are familiar with an area/scenery will be dissapointed, particularly at around 1000 agl.
I think only handmade 3d things are old, the map is new, i my small city i live in there is a new bridge, its not 3d on the map but you can see it "painted" in the grond
Haha that’s still the River Cats stadium that’s been there. I’m looking forward to attending an A’s. Not a fan of them but nice to have an MLB team in the city temporarily.
I know this is a Microsoft game but I wish they would fix the compatibility for Proton. It will probably be a bit and I was forced to put back Windows. Also I wish we had the option to download all the scenery data if we so choose to. There are a lot of pc users that have plenty of drive space.
It is yeah, if you have Game pass already. I considered that too. $12 vs. $70. I'd actually recommend that to anyone that wanted to try it for a month. Pay the $12 then cancel.
The efb will stay at 70% completion, like most adobo projects. Good for xboxers. No way will it compete with navigraph, now with vatsim atc etc. sticking to navi, even tho paid sub.
Comparing ai autogen math based scenery to photos is a no brainer. Photos are better. You should do a Sedona 2020 vs 2024 comparison. Imo 2020 looks much better/realistic.
Bro! I found it! They do have a run option, it's just not set by default. You have to go to the character controls. It's not super fast, but it's much better than walking and it's animated and all that.
I’ll just come back after a few weeks to see if the sim has been improved. I remember the 2020 version having a horrible launch, so I have my hopes that it’ll be fine.
Msfs2024 will never be fixed, if we are talking about bugs, then yes, in month or so it will be fixed, but the cloud thing will never be fixed, if you have a slow wifi, then uhm, uh oh
@@loabicalyeah I remember 2020 had a rough launch too, but with less people ready to commit to buying it. It also had an offline mode. But this cloud experiment is going to be interesting to see how they pull this off. I think many bugs will be fixed in the coming weeks and months. The potential is there. Just keep an eye on the change log.
It makes 0 sense why they are still using old map data. If they are using Bing Maps, Golden 1 Center is there on the actual website. So why in the world are they using old data in the sim??
That’s what I don’t understand. Some areas are updated, like Vegas. I mean, Sac is not a small town. It’s the capital of California. Some are reporting their cities have newer data I guess others are lower priority.
Btw, thanks for well done video. I mostly agree. I am a bit snarky in comments. Seems like 2024 has gone way down the gamer priority rabbit hole. No offense.
just like with any big game release the first few weeks are gonna be bad, just look at all MMO launches. Give it a few months and the game will prob be much better, relax and play other games until then

I did a scenery of flightsim.to for William Soaring Center! That place has been on my bucket list for a couple of years now. I was thinking of going up there in December for a flight, if the weather is good.

@@armhunterbut if you want to know my opinion I have been a flight simulator user for 30 years and loved version 2020 and to me version 2024 is a total disaster its an unfinished product full of bugs, and lack the level of polish that the previous version had rendering any many other areas.
Yeah I’ve used FS2020 since the very beginning. I was one of the final Alpha testers for that one. That’s why I wasn’t in a rush to get 2024. 2020 is fine with me.
Where do you think they’re falling short with those? I’ve only tried the R66 and Bell so far. Overall I feel the helicopter experience was slightly better than 2020s defaults.
@@TheFlightSimDeck When using unassisted controls with a helicopter specific control setup, the helicopters are WAY more squirrelly than they should be. Some of the aircraft physics aren’t even close to real life, and the helicopter training missions are fundamentally flawed. I flew the Cabri G2 in flight school, and MSFS even partnered with my school to help develop the G2. But it honestly feels like they did the aircraft a disservice with how it was implemented. Now credit where it’s due, they are programmers/game developers, not pilots.
Great video out of all the early opinion videos thank you for the detailed fly throughs and showing rotary and fixed wing these other boneheads showing early videos are just frustratingly uninformative lol
I bet they send on of the good versions. With special priority on the broken mess of a cloud gaming system. If not he would be like the other millions of clients having a broken game that barely even wants to load anything.
They could have made every single one of these improvements in this new sim in Microsoft flight Sim 2020 the UI may be tweaked but the improvement not earth shattering still using out dated old bing maps charging 200 plus all the mandatory updates this sim will have to go through and asobo breaking it with each update and no backwards compatibility for 2020 add ones makes this a no go for me Microsoft once made a statement that they were going to have a 10-year commitment to Microsoft flight simulator 2020 what happened to that plus the whole world is now has to be streamed airplanes and all I'll stick with Microsoft flight simulator 2020 with all the money I've invested I can't afford to move to a sim that doesn't look all that much better than 2020 money grab
I agree! Either they wanted fast overnight money, or they underestimated the amount of people that would have bought expansions packs and microtransactions. Especially when they claim to have grown the brand to 15+ million users. Now I feel like they have hurt their momentum and reputation trying to pull this off.
I think you said it best, game titles forgot what it means to actually "beta test" games. They take people with high viewership and all those people do is PROMOTE the game and only show what has already been shown in the trailers... no actual testing and bug reporting. only a race to put out content before anyone else promoting an unfinished game. and its sad because just like you, it doesn't take any time at all for players to FIND these bugs and be disappointed with the "finished" product given how easy it was to spot them
I also, could care less about all the xbox kid stuff. Give me a way to save a flight at different phases, plus about a 100 other things that rw pilots want.
I think you are a bit too negative. I flew a few hours and it looks beautiful. The launch and the product are two different things. I also have to get used to new setup stuff, but you are able to iron them out quite quickly. VR is so much more user friendly and still decent on my old system (rtx2080 super and Reverb G2). Being critical is ok, but don’t bite the hand that feeds you ;-) Enjoy!
Well if I’m too positive then I get hear about that : P but I felt I kept it pretty balanced. If you didn’t watch the full 37 mins you can miss my positive remarks. I praised a lot of things. I dont think the default atc has changed yet, they said they were going to revamp it later, the voices are different though, an STILL uses atc for pushback !
The map data has been updated to the latest in my area. I think it was updated but not in all areas.
They have my local airfield however the buildings are the exact same as the copy paste buildings from 2020
What how did you get moving cars?
On another note is there multi player so you can play with your friends? If there is how can i access that?
Under graphics / Advanced Settings, scroll to the bottom and it has an option for Road vehicles. You can play online with friends, you just have to be on the same server. Go to settings / Online and check the multiplayer box and below that make sure your server matches theirs.
@TheFlightSimDeck thank you!
just because 1 area is 10 year old map data, does not imply every part of the map is that old
You can turn off the gates in Career Mode
Re testing i think the bigger concern was capacity testing as opposed to concentrating on the placement of hands on a wing
Yeah that could be the case, like Vegas has the Sphere I just noticed. But that’s a very popular area so I can see them needing to do that.
You can still complete the mission without the gates,
@@TheFlightSimDeck got in finally , it's the
TOGGLE VISUAL ASSISTANCES DISPLAY
which is correction left stick in on controller
I think so, just like the helipads if detects them and adds a model of it. But I think it’s only doing it with basic bridges.
The new nvidia ap has colour enhancement settings
I love this game
They did update the Sacramento map. It now features the Oakland A's stadium 😅
Haha that’s still the River Cats stadium that’s been there. I’m looking forward to attending an A’s. Not a fan of them but nice to have an MLB team in the city temporarily.
the fuel/payload page is horrendous, It doesn't even show you MTOW.
I know this is a Microsoft game but I wish they would fix the compatibility for Proton. It will probably be a bit and I was forced to put back Windows. Also I wish we had the option to download all the scenery data if we so choose to. There are a lot of pc users that have plenty of drive space.
its free on xbox gamepass
It is yeah, if you have Game pass already. I considered that too. $12 vs. $70. I'd actually recommend that to anyone that wanted to try it for a month. Pay the $12 then cancel.
Can you start on a helipad with engines off?
If you can, I have not seen an option for it yet. Not on building pads anyway. At airports it does start cold and dark.
I was just flying that pos lol
The efb will stay at 70% completion, like most adobo projects. Good for xboxers. No way will it compete with navigraph, now with vatsim atc etc. sticking to navi, even tho paid sub.
Comparing ai autogen math based scenery to photos is a no brainer. Photos are better. You should do a Sedona 2020 vs 2024 comparison. Imo 2020 looks much better/realistic.
While on foot, there needs to be the option to run. Walking is too slow sometimes.
I agree, I tired pressing shift naturally but no run.
Bro! I found it! They do have a run option, it's just not set by default. You have to go to the character controls. It's not super fast, but it's much better than walking and it's animated and all that.
@@TheFlightSimDeck Nice. Thanks!
@ I am primarily talking about the bugs and current overload of the servers. Luckily I have a good internet connection with a bunch of bandwidth.
@@Test.Unknownoh no my internet is 56.6 can I pre load areas ?
@@poochies0316 unfortunatley not. hopefully in the future they will add an option to download areas
Can you remove the efb? I use navigraph, now with vatsim atc.
Unsure about the answer, however I know Microsofts goal is to reduce the need for third party plug-ins and accessories so hopefully it gets better
Please spin off a MSFS 2025 Pro version! I will pay $300!
Lucky, I still can't get in 😠😥😭
Lets be real, you were waiting for a free copy :P
@@windshearahead7012 Lol well, last time they sent them out weeks ahead of time. Morning of was strange.
Btw, thanks for well done video. I mostly agree. I am a bit snarky in comments. Seems like 2024 has gone way down the gamer priority rabbit hole. No offense.
Welcome! Thank you for the comments I like reading them.
just like with any big game release the first few weeks are gonna be bad, just look at all MMO launches. Give it a few months and the game will prob be much better, relax and play other games until then
I teach flying gliders about 12 miles to the east of the first airport that you showed in the glider part antelope valley. I teach for Williams Soaring Center come check us out.
I did a scenery of flightsim.to for William Soaring Center! That place has been on my bucket list for a couple of years now. I was thinking of going up there in December for a flight, if the weather is good.
Im so glad I got XP12 a month ago while waiting for MSFS 2024. I've fallen in love with the feel of it, both on the ground and in the air. And seeing more 2024 footage now, I don't think I'll even try it
12 is a great sim! Plus it has many great mods for free too.
you should try the previous version (2020), it's way better. version 2024 is full of bug and unfinished features.
did you not pay attention? He already has.
@@armhunter he lost my attention after the first two minutes the way he speaks appears like he for the first time is using Microsoft flight simulator
@@armhunterbut if you want to know my opinion I have been a flight simulator user for 30 years and loved version 2020 and to me version 2024 is a total disaster its an unfinished product full of bugs, and lack the level of polish that the previous version had rendering any many other areas.
@@Neutrino-ei5cj I just tried 2024 in VR and it looks terrible! I play more DCS. Im shocked they released this.
Yeah I’ve used FS2020 since the very beginning. I was one of the final
Alpha testers for that one. That’s why I wasn’t in a rush to get 2024. 2020 is fine with me.
Ive been severely let down by the helicopter flying experience of MSFS 2024.
I mis the old school P3D days man….
@@dutchflightsimpilot7447 for nostalgia I did post a P3D video last week: ruclips.net/video/lyW2MvW75yw/видео.htmlsi=AxG0n7lxVk9Pls0v
Why do all the avatars have skinny jeans?
Hahah there are some baggy ones sort of.
I bet they send on of the good versions. With special priority on the broken mess of a cloud gaming system. If not he would be like the other millions of clients having a broken game that barely even wants to load anything.
Second day was much better. I’m still having issues here and there. Missing aircraft sounds, missing planes, textures.
They take people with high viewership and all those people do is PROMOTE the game and only show what has already been shown in the trailers... no actual testing and bug reporting. only a race to put out content before anyone else promoting an unfinished game. and its sad because just like you, it doesn't take any time at all for players to FIND these bugs and be disappointed with the "finished" product given how easy it was to spot them
I think the ai scenery at 1000 agl looks worse and artificial, particularly around cities. Lots of autogen popons.
Yes! Especially as they sort out their cloud issues. On 2020 you can precache areas to avoid that somewhat.
Don’t blame you if you didn’t watch it all, no one has time for that! Now jayz2cents on the other hand, he went for the jugular on this sim. A little too harsh.
You are right. I used to watch a lot of Flightsim RUclipsrs. Now I have only two left.. you and The Flight Sim Deck. A lot of your colleagues are schills. I like it you are not a schill (yet). But don’t worry too much.. you can be enthusiastic about your passion. Heck.. you can even get paid to promote stuff as long as you are transparent about it. I like your style.. informative. Thanks for your videos 👍
Avatars can be social engineering, role playing tools. I want pronouns labels now!
You’ve never seen nature irl. You keep talking about the colors, but I’ve walked through a green forest and the leaves looked purple because of the light.
I’ve seen the nature from above in my own city plenty of times and it’s not this green. Maybe it’s the hue. X-Plane 12 has a better color ratio for this I feel.
Hi there...its sad that you and thousands more were duped into thinking FS24 is an all new game! Its the SAME engine, with all FS20 flaws and all still plaguing the game! Given we live in the year 2024,no surprise, thats how things and people are getting like! and to be nice,I will say everybody is so naive! Thank God I was born with a decent iq level to know all this and dont fall to its traps! To me,it was another easy way to make millions the old and dirty way, delivering garbage and charging gold! Good luck to you!
