John Rolfe. I have some real interesting information on Poca. She died from Smallpox. She had 2 sons one here in the America's. They didn't like her Pagan name. Thus she was given the good Christian name of Rebecca. When the movie came out her tribe tried to get her repatriated to the States. And the biggest reason for the movement was from her 9x great nephew Wayne Newton.

Wow that makes alot of sense in regard to one of my Native American ancestors. In the ancestry records her name randomly changed from Talitha to Tabitha… so maybe her name was changed because her birth name was a pagan name. She did marry a white man. Im not sure how that marriage came about but it makes sense that her white husband made her change it to a more christian name. The only last name i could find for her was Rogers. Im not sure if that was her birth name (i dont think so) or if it was her married name.

I had a co-worker who said he was related to Wolfe. Another co-worker said his ancestor was a hooper who signed the declaration of independence. Yeah, there's a hooper whose signature was on it.
