  • Recorded at 1PM April 2, 2014. At the beginning of the video, I show the old 4/5 port Thunderbolt 1000T on top of Patrick Henry High School, that this siren has replaced. This siren is located on 42nd Ave. North, across from Don Swanson Field in North Minneapolis Minnesota U.S.A. My first video of the Thunderbolt 1000T on Henry High School: • Thunderbolt 1000T 3min...

    Now, chop that up, add some nice 808 snares, and a cool club sidechaining kick, and you got yourself a club-smasher. B)

    The attack sounds like you'd expect, instead of being higher pitched than the alert/whoop/attack. If only it didn't shut off after each cycle. But at the same time, I guess it makes it easier to tell apart the attack and wail.

    There is no custom signal and the city of Minneapolis programmed the attack signal that way so that it wont cause confusion if the regular wail signal was used and the regular wail signal sounds like fast wail and do all the whelens take a little longer to complete the rotator cycle reminds me of the St Paul MN Thunderbolt 1000s which rotated between both signals

      garyhstorms10 these sirens can do voice to, they should of did a voice test, but you would have to go to the siren control box to do that so the people probably didnt feel like fiddling with the controls

    Looks like this one cuts off very quickly just like the Field one. I still have to call it in about the rotation problem. This one seems to work well though, great recording! I didn't get to record because I was on my way back from Wisconsin during testing. Should be able to record the Hale replacement, and the new one at Xerxes and 54th for the Tornado Drill.

      For this coming Thursday do you have any idea when they will do Alert/Attack and 3 minute Alert in Minneapolis? They tend to switch it up every year.

    • @KHPRWeatherNews
      @KHPRWeatherNews 10 лет назад

      Yeah I'm not sure. It's possible that they might want to see how the Whelens handle a 3 minute alert, but then again it's only a drill. Usually in any sort of test, they do both signals.I think they tell people that a real alert is only during a 3 minute blast, but I have no clue.

      Next time your in Wisconsin if you get a chance maybe you can get the sirens in St Croix County where they test their sirens on the first Wednesday at 11 am and originally thought it was the first Monday because that's when Chippewa and Eau Claire Counties test their sirens. Dunn at 10 am on First Mondays followed by the Dam Failure Sirens at 10:15 am. I guess the Counties in Wisconsin get to decide when to test their sires versus in Minnesota all or a majority of the Counties test the sirens the first Wednesday at 1pm

    Another comment why were the
    Thunderbolts in both cities not pole mounted and the new Whelens are were the Thunderbolts more expensive to fix if they got vandalized then the newer sirens we have now

    IMHO, i don't really like how they have it looping on the noon blast signal. I think they could have made a custom signal and programmed that into the controllers. Seems kinda sloppy sounding to me with it cutting out then back in like that as it cycles. I made a synth that is based off the 560Hz pitch that sounds like a Tbolt 1000 in attack. I love Whelen, but that's how I feel about the Vortexes in that system.

      +Paul Spomer At the time of this recording the 8/12 port Allertor was deactivated and replaced by a new Whelen placed 1000 feet away from it. I doubt they ran the 2 sirens at the same time. The Soundmaster is the closest working 8/12 port siren to this one. www.google.com/maps/@45.0474697,-93.3046737,49m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en
