If the desks have the same leg height, most of the time the little feet on the bottom twist in and out to adjust the height to match just right. That is also how I make sure they are not wobbly. Good luck!
All the best for the new school year~! Just a thought, could you possibly put all the shorter desks together in a group, just so the height differences would be less obvious? Take care, love from Singapore
I’m the same way. I don’t like when the students desks are different sizes. We also still do not know what is going on for the start of the school year. Last year I was the distance learning teacher for my grade and taught 28 second graders online all year. I’m looking forward to having students in front of me again.
Most desk legs work with a hex key to change. I picked up a set of those and a level from the local hardware store and spent forever and a day making matching desks. Good luck, those drive me crazy too!
I like that they can be different heights to accommodate the different size students. I teach fourth grade and every year I have to have a couple of desks higher for taller kids. The look bothers me too, but their comfort is more important!
It looks like two different manufacturers of desks. Look at the shape/slope of legs and the inside pencil trays. Group ones that are the same together and they will nest better. I used to keep the proper sized allen wrench in my desk so I could move the legs as I needed. You could also check with other teachers and see if you could trade so that each person has the same type/brand. It's a struggle for sure!!
Hi Bridget, have you been vaccinated yet? Glad to see you returning back to school. It is still an uncertain education future. We are looking at going back to school in September or so. The struggle is real.
I love your videos I really enjoy your classroom setup. Your classroom setup and decor is very simple, warm, and reasonable not crazy colorful overwhelming. LOVE IT!!
Best Wishes with your year, I have been there and I am planning on setting up both, and planning for both....still making it a student center classroom that enhances independence as much as possible!
The round table in the middle would be handy to put hand outs and stuff on at the start then u could send a kid from each set of desks to get them for their table/group of desks. Something my teacher (in the UK) they would leave a table at the front with all the worksheets whiteboards and pens etc we need an then we would be told one person from each table (usually a designated person) has to come and collect the stuff sometimes organised into piles or separated so they is enough in a pile for one table to stop arguing over who got what first
Love the brick wall! Did you use Better than Paper Bulletin Board rolls? I just bought a roll with the shiplap design and I’m excited to try it out. After 24 years of teaching in the same school, I will be teaching in a different building where 16 new classrooms were added due to restructuring in our districts. I was lucky enough to get one of the brand new classrooms. I don’t have any bulletin boards at the moment and scared to put it on the newly painted wall in fear of messing it up. Anyone have suggestions as to the best way to hang Better than Paper on a wall without leaving marks?
Tie desks legs together with a hex key or velcro bands or elastic bands or string. Although velcro is the best as you can change it up in minutes. .In a pinch, you can also stop desks moving by putting 'adjoining' desk legs together in small pots or coffee cans. Also, I would try to swap desks with other teachers. Height differences are for different age groups. Love that you are actually planning for all possibilities. So many teacher clogs this year are just ignoring the possibility of Covid. Your approach is more realistic and smart! You won't regret the nook. Changing over the layout if anything happens will be less annoying than working in a sub-optimal classroom all year and regretting not taking the risk.
Definitely playing the what if monster. We are currently supposed to keep 3 feet apart but are waiting on final guidance from district. I'd love to put my desks in groups. Also with the height it is adjustable so you can make them all the same height.
I know how you are feeling! My room is not ready because they painted and replaced the carpet with tile and then they used it for Summer School which just ended on July 30th. I have four days of training before teachers report to work on August 11:(
I noticed the front legs of each desk were touching and that is why they were leaving a space. I am wondering where your file cabinet is. I’m really wanting to toss the piles of papers I keep thinking I will use again, even though I don’t. Do you have any thoughts on that? I’m glad to see you back. I have been following you since you taught k. Fingers crossed we get back to teaching the way pre-COVID!
Try to continue to do things like last year. We’re still in a pandemic. You can get your custodian to fix the desk heights. Or, place desks together that are similar in height.
I always keep a great relationship with the custodian! Bring in a coffee or doughnuts and you won't have to worry about those desks! Make sure you ask before all the teachers come back and they get too busy!
What if monster is real! I am a music teacher in Ontario and have yet to hear if I’m on a cart, if instruments are allowed…etc. Hard to plan when I don’t know what to plan. What if? Your room is looking great btw
i just watched michelle emersons weekly vlog this week and im like wait she looks fimilar but didnt realize who you were til she mentioned your page name

Yes to the what if’s! Find an Allen wrench to get those desks the same height. It’s a pain!

In the Netherlands we always use desks. And yes, the height difference is sometimes annoying.
Most desk legs work with a hex key to change. I picked up a set of those and a level from the local hardware store and spent forever and a day making matching desks. Good luck, those drive me crazy too!
Also, custodians should be able to help adjust the height of desks.

I remember watching you put up that wall paper, I can’t believe it’s been so long. Keep being amazing! You’ve given me so many ideas!
Me too! I loved watching that paper go up. Also, the Harry Potter decor!
Could either one of you help me remember the purpose of the broom that's still above her whiteboard?🤔 T.I.A. 🤜🏼💟🤛🏼
@@soyyarimarie I think it is still a part of the Harry Potter decor.
I go back to work tomorrow so I’ll be seeing my new classroom for the first time I’m excited and nervous
Put like vinyl on the desks

That is a library unabridged dictionary stand
Teachers are back room
Can you adjust the desks' height by lower and/or higher the legs?
Best Wishes with your year, I have been there and I am planning on setting up both, and planning for both....still making it a student center classroom that enhances independence as much as possible!
I feel incredibly anxious about this school year.

Ah the desks don't match! First world problem. Sometimes the littlest things bug us

You can zip tie your desk together so they don't move.
Where did you get the brick wallpaper?
I am so sorry, but that dragon looks like a demon! May God have mercy on all our kids!
Are your letters baking pans?
Ugh OCD is a daily struggle for me as well with the desks. It sucks!!

It’s a dictionary stand. The desk can be adjusted but it is a pain.
