oh my, the memories this brings back when I was a teenager, I'm now ...eerrr a lot older, but still feel like a youth, this is what my generation grew up on, Mud, Slade, showaddywaddy etc, Chopper bikes, Bazooka Joe bubble gum, free milk at school, Glo-Yos (yo-yo's that light up) , recording the Top 40 on Sunday night onto a cassette tape!...the list goes on..Great days!
My memories are very similar...until I look at my old photos of myself taken at the time. Skinny 14 year old with long greasy hair and a buck tooth grin. Dont even remind me of the purple cords and tank top!
God I love this video. Wish buddy was still with us. I love it when Dave nicks buddy’s mic and says “hold on kid” with a massive sexy grin. Buddy’s grin is super sexy too.
@@b.critical7873 punk was for the poor little rich kids thank god it only lasted a few years unlike showaddywaddy still going after fifty years and selling out

Fantastic entertainers these guys. I was 10 when this record first came out in 1973. It still sounds great today. I think a lot of the depressing bands and artists (glum rockers!) around today should study this performance very carefully.
Can remember when they came on screen for the first time on New Faces, this was their first song, but origanally they were two bands, Choise Dave Bartram, Trevor Oaks, Al James and Romeo Challenger and Golden Hammers Buddy Gask, Russ Fields, Rod Deas Malcolm Allured, they formed at the Fosse Way Pub in Leicester.
As an original line-up, I honestly don't think that there was a better feel good band than Showaddywaddy. If you read this Dave, you were and still are an absolute hero of mine and despite it being 2023, there is still an awful lot of Showaddywaddy on my playlist.
Though it was their first really big hit,in summer 1974. I remember hearing it on the radio then, probably just before dashing to the little pedestrianised shopping precinct down the road to spend my pocket money on sweets (and comics).
There'll always be haters out there but you've got to love those 'Ted' suits and crepe soled beetle crushers! Especially Dave Bartrams baby pink number 😋 Cool as f@#k.
I remember when I first bought this record I couldn’t stop playing it and I still love listening to it many years later 🥳

That's not saying much.
This is there best song, when they had two drummers it kicked arse
It was an amalgamation of two groups choice and golden hammers.
Adebayo And Wingate
Shake It Down To This🕺🕺
Best version of this song on RUclips
God I love dave’s “hold on kid” then buddy nearly laughs. The old boys really knew how to work the stage.
Yes, just something so simple like that is great to see between the boys. I always likes their attire 😊
What a great song and performance by show added ❤ love it 😀 😄😁
Two Drummers 🥁 🥁🎉
Fantastic ❤
Brilliant band brilliant music
They are the only band that didn't stand in the same position on stage. They all moved around even the drums have been at the front of the stage.
Yes I loved the old band as they had a real stage presents about them. The new band dont in my opinion. They just stand at their mics.

Ah Buddy is just wonderful. So sad he is gone. Brilliant performer RIP Buddy
He was my favourite singer of the two.
In the 70th there was so much diversity in music, remembering also Bands like k c and the sunshine band. The 21 century is boaring me.

Lyrics
And you
Kids
Get on your feet now
And get ready and it's rock and roll
Showaddywaddy
Standing on the corner in my new blue jeans
Dreamin' 'bout the girl in my limousine
Everybody's talking 'bout the world's greatest rock 'n roll band.
News-boy on the corner says:
Hold on kid
What's the use of dreaming
'Bout a rich guy's greed?
Get yourself a boppin' with the world's greatest rock 'n roll band.
Hey rock and roll
Bring it to town
Let's stroll
Hey rock and roll
Let's go
Let's go
Let's go.
Hey rock and roll...
Rockin' to the band in a rocket-machine
Susie hand-jive
She's a rock and roll queen
Johnny sings a love-song
He sings it right from a-ha a-ha a-ha
Whenever Mickey's dancing with the girl in blue
Over to the band and a song for you
Everybody's shouting to the world's greatest rock 'n roll band.
Hey rock and roll...

Don’t know why Dave says “hold on kid” to buddy, as buddy was older than Dave. X
I totally love this song tho. It doesn’t sound right listening to the new band singing it as it’s buddy’s song.
@@PrincessNottingham as a young kid growing up in the 70s i absolutely loved these boys, especially dave and romeo, i thought they were so cool.
