You should have a look at Liam Brown. I know you’ve checked out his coast to coast video a while ago, but he’s done some amazing walks around Loch Lomond national park, Isle of Skye and the Hebrides, if you want to be immersed in Scottish scenery I would highly recommend him (plus he’s an ex army veteran so why we wouldn’t we support him 😉 xx

Aah dear Debbie and Natasha, thank you so much for such a wonderful reaction to my videos! I'm not gonna lie, it was a bit strange seeing my videos through someone else's eyes, it made me somewhat giddy and shy!
I do hope you will get to visit both England and Scotland some day! Scotland especially has something so nostalgic about it, I'm sure it will welcome you warmly. About what you said at the end - it's so so true, beauty is there at our doorstep. Looking at lives of other people on social media can make us feel like we don't have enough, when, in fact, we have so much, only sometimes we lose focus and gratitude for what we have. I am very much prone to this kind of thinking too.
Thank you again! You both are so kind 💕

It always takes videos like this to remind me how beautiful the UK is, I'm at the opposite end of the uk to you, down in Hampshire sat in between Winchester, Portsmouth, and Southampton and it's too easy to only go to and only see ugly concrete jungles and forget that less than a mile in each direction is miles of breath-taking national parks , nature reserves, and thousands of years of history.
Even just stopping on my way home and looking over miles of old rape-seed farms reminds me how lucky i have been, Especially since the government is ripping everything up at a faster and faster pace to build housing estates that often sit half empty since no one can afford the ridiculous and badly build shared ownership houses.

I am from England and live only an hour from the border, Northumberland is beautiful as is Yorkshire, in fact most of the UK has lovely countryside, but the Highlands of Scotland are without doubt the most gorgeous 😍 up beyond Glasgow it all starts with Loch lomond and as you head up through the cairngorms it just explodes . There is an amazing series narrated by the actor, ewan McGregor which follows the Highlands through each of the seasons, if you get a chance check it out.

Just returned from 3 weeks in Scotland, a week in a cottage on the Isle of Harris and a week on Skye. I normally go in spring or summer but this was my first autumn visit. The autumn colours were stunning, especially driving back from Skye via Fort William, Glencoe and Callender. I’ve always loved the bluebells and fresh colours of spring and the machair flowers of summer in the Western Isles but autumn in Scotland has a special enchantment.

Natasha, what you're feeling, that 'rope around your heart' is what my grandad called feeling your heritage. I have lived away from Scotland for 60+ years, going back for visits every 4 or 5 years, but it lives in my heart permanently. When I hear 'Scotland' or 'Scottish' or anything to do with it my ears perk up and my heart skips a beat. It is the country of my birth and will always be first in my heart. My children were not born in Scotland, but they feel their heritage like you do.

Genes do not have nationality! Nationality is transferable and rightly so, not one person on this Earth comes from a 'country' (Love you Natasha and Debbie! ❤)

I’m from and have lived my whole life in Scotland. And whenever I go elsewhere I the world, I always look forward to coming home. I have been to quite a few countries now. Many in Europe, and the US I have been to 4 times. Yet no matter where I go, and how rich in nature or history, Scotland always stays at the top for me.
It is one of the only countries in the world that is truly unique in almost every way. For its size, it has the most incredible variety of landscapes.
Also, it’s place in the world is very unique. Sitting in Northern Europe, on the edge of the world, the western Highlands and Hebrides are my personal favourite places on the planet. And I’m from Edinburgh and live in Linlithgow. A medium scale town, between Edinburgh and Glasgow, it is historically very important and very stunning, it’s often overlooked but it is one of my favourite towns in the Lowlands and the country. It is the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots. It is filled with stunning architecture from the buildings on the high street to it’s most famous location, Linlithgow Palace. Sitting on the edge of Linlithgow Loch, another incredible location. It is a 6,000 year old loch left over from the last ice age when a glacier passed through creating the valley that the town lies. However, the palace is amazing. I have been to many of the most famous castles in Scotland, including all the ones you have looked at in your videos. Out of them all, at least outside of the highlands, Linlithgow palace is my favourite, and its a 10 minute walk from my house. That’s where Mary was born and was the party palace of the Stewarts, the Scottish royal family’s house name, *on a side note, when tracing back my family history I found out through my maternal line that Robert the Bruce is my 24th great grandfather, which was an insane thing to find out, but I was very happy to know as a Scotsman, I was related to the man who won Scotland its freedom from England.* It is so worth looking into for you. I wont bother attempting to describe it, as you should see it for yourself. But I think people would love to see you do a video on Linlithgow and it’s famous locations. The palace has been used in recent years as a filming location in the TV show Outlander, as well as Chanel using it as a place to hold a fashion show and runway a few years ago.
Also, to Natasha, the feelings you have towards Scotland are the same that I feel. And I am from here and have lived here my whole life and have seen much of the country. Buy I feel that you have a deep connection to this country. I do believe that if you have Scottish ancestry, and you begin to look into it, it kindles something within you. My husband is from Australia but is half Scottish, and he moved halfway round the world to live here. If you ever want any information or have any questions you’d like answered by a native, or if you want tips on the best places to stay or the best routes to take while on a trip here or just any information about Scotland, feel free to ask me. And I should be able to help at least a bit. As I am passionate about Scotland and know quite a bit about it’s history and geography. And I have travelled all across the country.
Wishing you both all the best and hope you mange to get over to Scotland sometime in the near future. I love your videos. You both have made an effort to enlighten yourself to other parts of the world and the people and culture that defines them. Not many people do that and it is great to see someone who is so truly interested in my country.

Scotland is a scenic spectacular vista contantly changing from one mile to the next, its only drawback is the dramaticly shorter daylight hours in the Fall and Winter months, while it may stay light in London til 5PM, in the Scottish Hightland it could be dark by 3PM but by contrast Mid Summer it will stay light until AFTER 10pm and be light again in a few hours 4am, as you travel futher North to difference chages, both in the Spring with more daylight hours and into the Fall/Winter with fewer hours of daylight. One place above all others for me always stands out Glen Coe where you drop down of the mountains into the Valley and the Big Battle site at Glen Coe. Stunning scenery for the passengers and I guess a bit of a wild drive for the Driver.

I'm born and raised in Southern Essex. Whenever Autumn comes around, the skies become leaden, grey; leaves change from green to a golden-brown and then shed themselves. The satisfying rustle and crunch of the leaves beneath my feet, and the occasional spit spot of light drizzle in the air. A small, polite tap saying "I'm here, don't worry". I become melancholy, during Autumn; especially when November nears. November makes me emotional, because i makes me think about my Maternal Grandmother (Irene was born on 10/11/1926; she passed away from Coronavirus in Late January 2021)

People moan too much about the changes in the seasons instead of enjoying them. What I love in autumn in the UK is the slowly down of work. The garden gets put to bed and there is no more watering 😂 (we have had a lot of rain lately). Grass doesn’t need to be cut. We’ve had the first frost (only one so far). But the leaves are now changing, this year there is loads of berries on the trees and shrubs, folklore says this means a very cold winter. People’s fires are lit and the wood smoke smells wonderful when you walk past the houses. Horse chestnuts (conkers) have been collected for the house to keep the spiders out also the chestnuts have been collected for roasting over a fire (in the oven too) and for making the stuffing for Christmas. Everything done earlier in the year is nearly ready the Raspberry Gin, the tomatoes have been made into sauces or roasted and frozen. The Christmas cakes are being fed (usually alcohol). Stir up Sunday will be at the end of the month which means making Christmas puddings. I do some of these things but not all.
Also at work, talks about what the department will do for Christmas and choices are given. Booking annual leave off and hoping that you will be allowed the time off and if not where will you go in Jan - Mar to use up you leave 😂. The shops now have ditched the Halloween decorations and Christmas has replaced them. But we still have Guy Fawkes celebrations this weekend (bobbing for apples is still a favourite), eating baked potatoes, English sausage in bread rolls and toffee apples (make or brought) around a fire, watching fireworks this will probably carry on until next weekend. Yes the evening are darker earlier and will continue to do so until the 21 December. It is colder but we can wear jumpers and boots. Meals have changed from salads to soups, stews, curries and pies. And no one is talking about the perfect beach body 😂. That is autumn to me.

It certainly is the most beautiful time of year. The nights are pulling in. I call it the cosy season when we draw the curtains at 5.00pm, switch on the table lamps, light a few candles which fill the house with the smells of cinnamon and apples. The Christmas cakes baking in the oven emitting that wonderful smell of mixed spices, nutmeg, cinnamon and black treacle. Mothers shouting "Don't bang the door whilst the cakes are in the oven". As a child in the 1950s we played conkers under the yellow glow of the street gas lamps. It was a good time to be a child. I'd hate to live in a country where there is no autumnal season of reds, oranges, browns and yellows.

21:56 The structure in the foreground is the Scott Monument - the largest commemoration of a man of letters in the world.
The clock tower behind it is on the Balmoral Hotel - the clock is kept three minute fast so that you don't miss your train in the station below. The clock is adjusted on New Year's Eve so that it strikes correctly to usher in the new year.

Hi Mark I'm from Scotland and Wales is the only UK country I haven't been to. I'm hoping to visit next year or the year after. A friend was in Llandudno (I hope I spelt that right) and her pics looked amazing. Pity about the country wide 20mph limits. I'm surprised the SNP didn't try to do that here. They're falling out of favour over some of their decisions.

@martybhoy72 Yes, 20mph is a pain. I live in South Wales, which, to me, is similar to the South of Scotland, not too many big mountains, but the ones we have are lovely.

I have had the good fortune to have visited the highlands twice now, and I can confirm that it is more beautiful than the video can even convey. It truly is inexplicably majestic, capable of making your heart explode in your chest and reduce you to tears.
Seeing videos like this however, does remind me of how easy it can be to take it all for grated.
Living in towns and cities, it can be all too easy to forget just how much beauty there is close at hand, regardless of where you are in the UK and you can often get so preoccupied with work, family, relationships and hardships, that such places feel a million miles away and fade into unimportantace. So, thank you both, for reminding me to take time to stop and look at my country with the curiosity, love and awe that you both do! ❤

Edinburgh is a fascinating place. When you visit make sure to visit the underground city, they literally cut the tops off of old buildings and built a platform over them to put the new "old" buildings on top. But, if you land in London first and wish to visit the Highlands, take the sleeper train from Euston to Fort William. You will land in the shadow of Ben Nevis, but, if you wake slightly early before arrival you will see snow capped mountain vistas through the window as the train progresses. It is not difficult to wake early, the beds aren't that comfortable, but the views are worth it.
PS excellent service from the staff on the sleeper, they even knew our names on boarding, very personal touch☺

Fall is such a sad word for such a beautiful season, for us Autumn is that transition from summer to winter, the gold, brown and red leaves, the temperature change and finally the falling of the leaves. Autumn also gives us words such as autumnal to describe things that happen in that season.

I needed to hear those comments at the end. I have no money & I’m living with (to take care of) my 90 yr old dad, who has dementia. It’s 2 years so far.
I need to get out. There’s a beautiful area 5 minutes drive away. A designated site of ‘special Scientific Interest’ or some such. It’s a special place to me as I spent many hours there while recovering from PTSD. It’s been too long. I’m going to set aside half an hour tomorrow when dad is settled & go for a walk.
Thanks ladies, always so good to see you xx

I live in Scotland just outside of Glasgow. We're very lucky as it's a short distance to Loch Lomond and my daughter lives about 5 mins away from it. Here's some suggestions for when you can make it to Scotland.
    1. There's a company who run steam train journeys from Glasgow/Edinburgh to the Highlands. The scenery is incredible. They usually go as far as Mallaig.
    2. If you go to the far northern Highlands there are incredible, beautiful and usually deserted beaches there.
    3. There are some lovely islands off the north coast of Scotland eg Shetland, Lewis etc.
    4. If you come in Autumn, for amazing colour go to the Perthshire area. It's stunning during that season.
I'm so proud of being Scottish and you nearly had me in tears too. Lol. There's a song about Scotland I can't listen to without tearing up as it just says it all. It's called Caladonia by Dougie McLean. Give it a listen. Hope you both make it here one day. - Frances ❤

When I look up to the stars I always try and remember that they may have been there for millions of years but it takes their light so long to reach us that by the time it does some of those bright eternal seeming heavenly bodies have already gone. If even the ancient stars disappear we should appreciate all fleeting beauty whilst we can.
