The weapon the dragon is holding at the end is not the Moonlight Sword, but a traditional weapon called the Chilji. This weapon was once given to Japan by the Baekje dynasty of the Korean peninsula, which is why there is a theory that Sekiro's dragon is from the Korean peninsula.
I accidentally found it in 94 at the last boss. A dragon that shoots fireballs, I was so sick of losing to I performed a mad suicidal dash toward him out of anger mashing the attack button. Now at the time I didn’t even realize he was spinning every so many seconds and back then we hadn’t seen anything like what comes next. As I dashed toward this HUGE dragon with suicidal tendencies he spun at just the right time. Due to me mashing the attack button on PS1 (which happened to be the pick up object button) I picked up a ring on his back. On the other side of him was this sword, when I returned the game to my sisters boyfriend since I was 11 at the time he asked… how did you get that sword. It was so epic I remember it today.
it’s odd to me how each time there is a different way of obtaining it that doesn’t correlate to any other ways. Like the closest thing that was similar is ds1 seath’s tail and ds3 Oceiros’s soul which both are basically mad magic/crystal dragons but it’s still not really the same
Well, in DS3 you get the Holy Moonlight spell by defeating Midir, who is a black dragon like Guyra from King's Field. There's also the resemblance on Dark Souls and Dark Souls 3 of King's Field saga with the white and black dragons

Yeah they were a mid-tier AA studio making challenging and very niche games primarily the Armored Core series. Then some of their difficult, niche games became some of the most influential games in the industry.
It doesn't shoot beams, but it is in Armored Core 4 and 4Answer. Both missions requiring you to fight the holders have extremely aggressive close combat pilots breathing down your neck in tiny rooms
A few years before King's Field, Cecil, the main hero and a paladin in Final Fantasy IV from 1991, has a best sword that he finds on the Moon after slaying a powerful dragon. It's stronger than Excalibur, which is his second best sword, and is called Ragnarok but in the first release of the game in America it was translated as the Crystal sword in order to better go together with his crystal themed equipment, the crystal armor, helmet, shield and gauntlets. Beyond the game the sword didn't get famous on the level of say Link's Master Sword from the Zelda series, Cloud's Buster Sword and Sephiroth's Masamune from FF7, Squall's Gunblade from FF8, and the Moonlight Great Sword itself. But for me the glowing blue and green depictions of the Moonlight Great Sword come the closet to how I've always pictured Cecil's Crystal Sword/Ragnarok from the Moon which really was an influential rpg and story for the time beyond just being a part of the FF series. Either way the Moonlight Great Sword is the best video game and general fantasy based sword I ever seen. It looks the way such a sword should look.
it also shows up in Murakumo, though I don't think by name, its the primary weapon of the "sword" type mech, shooting a crescent wave as its main ranged attack.
In Evergrace, you get the Moonlight Sword from beating Demon Darius, the final boss of the secret Shadow Tower level, not “the final colosseum”, you might be thinking of Evergrace 2 / Forever Kingdom.
3:41 This is NOT true! You do NOT need to level the Moonlight Sword in King's Field: The Ancient City at all to use the magic. You can use it as soon as you get it when it's still Level 1. Only non-magical weapons need to be Level 3 to use a generic sword magic. It's a VERY common misconception.
This is beginning to make me think all these games are in the same shared world but at different points in its history. With kings field being before the catsclysm, elden ring being during the days of the catsckysm, darksouls being immediately sfter, bloodborn months or years later, and armored core being in the distant future. or maybe im just overthinking it.
