The Coverbuddy is a necessity for me as an MBA student that writes my lecture notes I pop it off and use my pencil. When I need to start typing an essay for example it pops back on. No weight complaints from me and I know my pencil is safe and not at the bottom of my bag 🤗 I wish I had this in nursing school. 🙄
The big point of this for me is the Apple Pencil. Period. I like having the Apple Pencil always available and charged because I tend to use it more. But I also like the Smart Keyboard/Magic Keyboard and was not comfortable with just sticking the pencil on top of the iPad, unprotected. Also - I read a lot of magazines on the iPad so take it out of the case, but didn’t like doing so unprotected. The CoverBuddy solves this problem. Thanks for the review.
The bottom of the iPad is exposed because the cover buddy can also be used for the Smart Keyboard folio so the magnetics on the bottom of the iPad match up with the folio
I have had to return 2 of these covers for my iPad Pro 11” as the pass through pins failed (different pins on each cover). Such a shame as the idea is great, I just think they need to re-engineer the pins design to avoid the failures. I’ll let you know if I get the same problem again!
I switch between keyboard and pencil use often so I was basically forced to purchase this case, as there isn’t an alternative case that works with Magic Keyboard. It’s like a $60 plastic cover. Dbrand skin probably would do the same thing, just protect the back from scratches but I didn’t think of it.
Just came across this video after using the cover buddy for sometime. Pros: Protect the Apple Pencil; Cons: make it harder to charge my iPad through the main port! I also happen to have the Apple Watch Charger from Satechi in which Coverbuddy prevents the charger from working even with the slim design...
Another case to be excited for is the Pitaka MK compatible case getting released on the 24th. Pitaka makes well-built slim cases that have the durability and protection comparable to Mous and otter box. Will def protect the iPad better than the coverbuddy from a fall
Feels like half the product I need. When the ipad is in the magic keyboard it is pretty well protected by the keyboard itself - this doesn’t provide a great deal more. What I want is to be able to grab the pad off the keyboard and have some protection while using it ‘naked’, but this is just doesn’t do it because a whole quarter of the edges are completely bare! This is just a glorified pencil holder with added volume button obstacle.
It’s not an iPhone it’s an iPad, this is just to insure that it doesn’t break. The possibility of it breaking are much lower because it’s a much bigger device, so you don’t really need an otter box type case.
