Slash (curly guy😂) is my favorite guitarist and will always be in my top 10 favorite artists. I know there are guitarists that are faster, etc but Slash's solos are touching me on an emotional level and that's the most important thing to me when it comes to music Greetings from Germany
The tone change that happens at 1:54 is Slash changing from the neck pickup to the bridge. You can see him move the toggle switch from the up position to the the down position. I've seen these guys live a couple times. Both Slash and Myles are amazing. Check out Myles doing "Watch Over You" the Billboard acoustic version.
He (Slash) is just mumbling "the notes". When you're 'in the zone' your mind, mouth, hand whole body works as one. When you're that focussed the (physical as mental) challenges he's enduring show through facial expressions/reactions. Overall just expression through music. Since you are learning guitar, i wanna share one of the best advice i ever got back when i started: Learn to use your pinky finger when playing, it will give you the ability to play more intricate music and chords will have more power to them Edit: The mumbling thing is very common, it helps with keeping time and also is a little memory booster for upcoming parts

the reason why he looked like he was mumbling is because he is feeling the notes he plays. when you look carefully, you can see that his mouth's shape matches the notes.

SMKC are a brilliant live band. I'm a huge Myles Kennedy fan away, he's the best rock vocalist alive as far as I'm concerned but the more I have seen and heard from this band the more impressed I am with Slash. He's such a guitar icon that I figured he was all style and little substance but he's one of the most gifted improvisational players out there. Not particularly technical but that really doesn't matter with his tone. Would love to see you react to their acoustic Max sessions. Myles amd Slash do incredible acoustic versions of Patience and By the Sword.

It's not the Chris Derrig Les Paul, he doesn't use that any more and it's worth millions. He uses his own Gibson Les Paul Slash Signatures for the most part with the special ones like the Derrig and Jessica used for studio recording mainly
