    On behalf of everyone who knows about this story, thank you to your sister’s boyfriend. Him trying to save Lazar will be so crucial in the investigation, and he really showed just how simple it would have been for someone to DO something. He will inspire many to not think twice before acting in scenarios like this in the future, and potentially save lives because of it.
    I second the person who said please consider seeking professional grief therapy. Survivor’s guilt, PTSD, depression are all real risks for all the athletes, no matter how fine they currently feel.

    This video just demonstrates what a class act Justin Medeiros is. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings on the weekend.
    As someone that was in Ft. Worth, I am still struggling with what I saw and how the weekend played out. Seeing Justin breakdown before event 2 is an image that will stay with me for a long time. I can’t begin to imagine how the athletes felt, but I support each and every one and the decision they made…whether that was to compete or not.
    Justin, for as amazing of an athlete you are, you are an even better person. Thank you!

    Last year I lost my father in law to drowning the same week that you had a boat crash or you knew someone in a boat crash I can’t remember now. It seemed mental the timing and I felt that it was crazy that such similar events could lead to drastically different outcomes. This year I am the one watching you having lost someone in your life, a colleague and a competitor… I hope you have the support you need it’s a hard time and it takes a long while to realise it’s real. My father in law had a great guy like your sisters partner but it didn’t help him. But it’s great to know that there are many good people out there.
    I was very angry with CrossFit and I still am for their handling of the whole thing but I’d never judge an athlete for choosing to compete, I feel like it shouldn’t have been your choice you guys were all still in real deep shock but even so I could never get angry for doing what is right for you!

    Too often we forget that while these athletes are the elite in this sport, they are still human and still all cope with grief in so many different ways. Watching the Games that whole weekend you could see how everyone was dealing with it - watching the Buttery Bros documentary yesterday and this today gives us all a reminder of how we all deal with these emotions differently. Justin, thank you for putting yourself out there and everything you felt throughout the weekend - it's definitely difficult to share things like this but you are even higher on my list how after hearing all the kind things you had to say about Lazar and sharing this weekend🖤🖤

    Crossfit should NEVER have put the athletes in that position. How embarrassing and irresponsible. The choice to compete after the tragedy is obviously an individual choice on behalf of the athletes, but Crossfit should have stepped up and showed actual leadership by saying definitively that the games either would or would not continue in the first place. Instead it sounds like what happened created further trauma for all of you. I have an immense amount of respect for you personally and the thoughtfulness and emotional intelligence you've shown both during and after the games. Sending you healing.

    • @dhall75608
      @dhall75608 4 месяца назад +2

      I do see where you’re coming from, but I do think that they wanted to give the athletes a voice. It really didn’t matter how they handled it, it would have people who disagreed. There’s no way to truly correctly handle something like this in the eyes of everyone. While there are things they could have handled better, even if they had handled it perfectly, people are still going to have negative things to say. Emotions were and are still high and navigating the entire thing was difficult for everyone there.

      Athletic competitions are not democratic. Actually, when individual athletes start "running" the comps or loudly asserting claims, it turns into a cluster fuck and athletes need mental focus to compete. Confusion is not helpful at events and turns to anger.
      The company running an event makes ALL of the decisions and people choose whether or not to compete. I say this as a Meet Director for skiing

    • @dhall75608
      @dhall75608 4 месяца назад +1

      @@jessiegoodrich6799 they weren’t running anything. Considering it’s their job and a community, they were asked for their input. It’s been like that in the space. In the grand scheme, this is the last thing people should be upset over. The athletes didn’t seem to mind having input so why would our opinions matter anyways?
      Had they not been given a choice, and HQ had continued with the Games or chose
      not to without the athlete input, you’d have people, who’s opinions don’t matter, complaining they didn’t get a voice.

    • @jessiegoodrich6799
      @jessiegoodrich6799 4 месяца назад +1

      @dhall75608 crossfit created a Games culture of mystery and separation from the athletes' opinions. So I think it was inappropriate and confusing (check out more athletes comments and videos) to suddenly expect them to resolve this issue. Crossfit likes the military, so what would happen when a Captain just turns and asks his squad what to do when the shit hits the fan? I'm only using the military example because of the community

    Justin, sorry for your loss, thank you for your integrity and courage in sharing what you were going through. And you are right, there is no right or wrong in such matters, there is only what is. Everyone has to have the freedom to deal with tragedy and grief in the way they feel best for them.

    Thank you so much for sharing. I cannot imagine being so close to this tragedy, competing and losing your friend/competitor. I live across the country, haven’t competed in CrossFit in 7ish years, never watched anything about lazar prior, and this hits me so hard every time. 😢 every competitor regardless of what they chose to do made the right decision for themselves. Don’t let the comments get to you, give yourself some grace. You have honored Lazar and he is proud of you.

    I just watched this.....and I have always been a fan...even more so now. Thank you for your honesty, and being open and telling us the truth. And thank you for showing Chad's wife's speech....it gave us a different perspective.....I wish they showed it.
    You're amazing and the crossfit space needs you in it.
    We wish you all the success because you deserve it.
