You’re not alone. Everything you say makes perfect sense. I’m much older than you and have lived as you do all my adult life. For me there’s an indivisible link between sex and emotional intimacy so casual sex is something that never interested me and refraining from it almost certainly saved my life. I’ve seen the effect of it on a whole generation of gay men….. many who we lost and many who’s mental health just deteriorated because it was only a destructive method of self-medication that didn’t make the quality of their lives better but actually robbed them of meaning. So keep dealing with your life the way you do because you’re totally making sense and prioritising your whole health. Your message is exactly what we need to hear ❤️

I’m blown away by how mature you are at your age. To me (66) you’re still just a kid, but your lived experiences have made you a very perceptive man. I love seeing your videos and wish there were more men out there like you - men who have integrity, are honest, and are willing to commit to a monogamous relationship. Unfortunately, hooking up has become normalized in the gay community and I think it’s made us less empathetic to each other. Keep doing what you’re doing.

I'm the same way, hookups are probably thrilling at the time but the worry over catching something is a stress I don't need and my heart would probably break a little more each time too. People talk about prep but a guy I know woke up the day after his first dose and ended up in the hospital with kidney damage, so that can be scary stuff too. I'm the "one and only" type even tho it does make for loneliness trying to filter out someone who wants something genuine and someone who just wants something till dawn.

It wrecked me to my core. I'm very close to family again so sex and being gay is just a small part of who I am. Like you, I'm spiritual but not religious. I've always been a truth seeker. Some of us are called to be celibate. I committed myself to Christ almost 35 years ago and that includes celibacy. Best thing I ever did. It was difficult at times early on, but eventually all those chains are broken and the freedom is unrivaled. No one can tempt, deceive, seduce, use, manipulate, enslave, or corrupt me. Since all of that seeps in along the sexual conduits, celibacy provides mastery over all of that and more. I would never change. I’m staying the course. May God bless you, you’ve made a very wise choice. Over the years I’ve found that many people are living essentially celibate lives, a lot of the outdoorsy people I know who love nature, animals, adventure..., sex takes the last backseat for them, if at all. And I’ve personally experienced much deeper love without sex.

HI 👋 You tell it like it is. I found out from the age of 17 in the 1970s about gay men and how they use people. I was too young and i wanted to be liked and loved. So i let guys use my young body. I didn't stand up for myself. These guys didn't want a friendship. Emotions and feelings didn't come into it. It's not even their fault. We live in a world that doesn't accept us as gays. So what comes with that is self loathing and low self esteem. And when people don't feel good about themselves they treat others badly. I can remember pursuing a guy whom i liked back in the 1980s. I met him at a gay bar. We spent one night together. It was only sex. I wanted to get to know him , but he wasn't interested. That's happened more than once for me. Now I'm in old age im no longer interested in anything sexual. I'm celibate and free of unwanted connections with other gay men. It feels great.

I've been celalbint for 7 years now strictly by choice. I took the time to get to know me after a 12 year relationship ended catching my husband screwing in my patrol car in my garage shortly after I came home from the Marine Corp. I was shot in the line of duty. He never came to the hospital to see me but forgot there were cameras everywhere. He asked me to move out of my own home. I want a friend I have none where I live. My mom passed away on July 2, 2023. I sold my house in Centeral Alabama and now in North Alabama. I honestly want a friend, I don't care if you're married I don't want sex I'd love to just talk to you because we are too much alike. The voice the southern brotherhood. Stay safe my friend.

It's actually not. I went through my slut stage in my my early 20's. After that it wasn't uncommon for me to go 2 or 3 years without sex and really didn't miss it much. The random thing just got really old after a while. Things changed when I got into a serious relationships after and actually waited to have sex with each other. First one didn't work out for the long term, but I've been with my husband now for 10 years now and we still have plenty of sex. And yes respecting yourself is key.

OMG, you are a brother from another mother. I choice to be celibate because I don’t like the dating many guys or one night stands, I want that one man which I hope will last my life. I was lucky I met him. And even though our forever & grow old together well ended way too soon when he died. I still feel his love for me & mine for him today , years later. I know there will be some that won’t understand when I say I have not dated or seen anyone since his death. That feeling to find a new someone isn’t there, I had a great love & I’m willing to wait until I see him again.

I didn't come to appreciate being on my own & being celibate until after my 40's. I some how came to realize that I was worth more than just a piece of a** (I guess 20 years of therapy finally paid off😂). I've had 3 serious relationships in my life, I'm a widower from the first two (the first - I was 19 he was 35 & was a controlling psycho) the 2nd after the first died & the third guy aftet 7 years he fell in love with an Orthodontic surgeon in Washington, DC he met on his work travels. Now you couldn't pay me to get into another relationship. I'm old enough to know to never say never, but if there's ever another fella (poor bastard having to suffer from my grumpiness, I'm more bitchy than grumpy- (I like a clean upkept house, don't let me find his drawers on the floor more than twice a week cause then I'm gonna bitch about it🙄😆) to show up as a possibility as relationship material in my life, there's gonna be a long wait until anything beyond kissing at the drive-in movies (do they still have drive-in movies these days?) Shows you how long it's been since I was last on a date😅. Long & short of it, I'd rather be alone & happy & disease free than chasing after a fantasy in my head or being chased by someone looking for me to fulfill their neuroses. No thank you!😂
I'm done raising men, I've got incredible friends most have been in my life for over 30 years. Casual sex is definitely worth the experience, but once it's out of your system, at least in my case, not having someone in my day to day life is a huge blessing & not "needing" to have sex for the sake of sex is a weight off my shoulders. Sex is a lot of work, especially when your older & you don't give a rat's ass about pleasing people anymore. (God, I used to have sex with people because I felt responsible or felt sorry for them, I didn't want to hurt their feelings.) 😮
Talk about a mind f**k.) It's great seeing you who is so young figuring it all out! It's a sign that just maybe we're gonna make it as a species. Always be kind, try to stay as silent as possible to allow for the opportunity to accurately perceive the world around you, & keep living a life dedicated to being of selfless service to your fellow human beings.
It's wonderful seeing you appreciate your life. Keep up the great work kiddo!❤

Complex topic, IMHO (Dutch [43]): You do you, if that is your personal choice, and conviction. *"Know Yourself"* & Ehyeh Asher Ehyeh (I am what I am).
I do understand where you are coming from... [I would not use the word celibate, maybe more abstinence, even if I had little to no sex with others, by choice, for stretches of time in the past to work on myself, and be by myself.] The complexity of the topic can come into play with; forced celibacy or Incel, and topics like cohersion & manipulations (manufactured consent). That was not the issue in your case.
The forced celibacy of religious people also caused a lot of sexual trauma and sexual abuses, I also wanted to point that out.
Sexual abuse by priest and nuns, and the likes. Pent up sexual energy - which can become sexual frustrations, and can lead to sexual explosions and abuses. The majority of humans are sexual beings, asexuals (not a monolith and diverse also) are an exception.
There are also positives in finding out about the sexual compatibility with your future long term partner before tying knots.
But there is also more to life than just sex, sex can be a significant part of life - but there is more to life than just sex.
If you are up-front about it there is also nothing wrong with hook-up culture, and polyamory etc. If you are mature enough to "play the game".
    Asexuals (can) have fulfilling lives.
Everything has positives and negatives a yin and yang. (Or in a less dualistic/black and white view Yin, Yang Yuan)
However, I also wonder how much cultural (Puritan Judeo-Christian) and religious (Christian) angles from your up-bringing are tied in to this. Also with the used linguistics like; give in to, and save myself (for someone special) - it has very much Christian linguistic undertones. Abstinence/celibacy & purity (culture).
Again there is nothing wrong in doing so if it is a well informed choice, also there is nothing wrong in not doing so.
I also grew up religious [LDS] - and also after my coming out and excommunication I have studied theologies, etc. because I wanted answers on questions and wanted to know and understand, and go to the sources of it. I also studied sexology. Amongst other things.
Spiritual, can also have physical/sexual angles with connections; Tantra for instance -
Spiritual can be, and often is less "prude" than the Abrahamic religions are.
    STI (STD) is a thing we all have to be aware about, also that;
male-on-male is the most dangerous type of sexual contact, but female-on-female is the least dangerous type of sexual contact and STI's,
male-on-female is in the middle but also still "dangerous". But also ending up with an STI is not the end of the world in modern days with modern medicine - and a social healthcare system - if you can have medical check-up's and treated early.
HIV still is a bigger problem than some other STI (if treated early). But more straight people got HIV than gay people do, just letting the global numbers speak.
Libido & sex-drive on individual levels also play account in all of this. If you have a lower sex-drive/libido there will be less feeling of need, if it is high that will be all that is mostly on your mind. (Biorhythm they fluctuate in every individual over their lives, and over time - up and down, that's what makes the world go round.)
If one is more sex-positive or more sex-negative - can also tie in with the views on this/these topics. IMHO
