I'm running something similar without the melee node. Seems like you are getting the buff without landing the melee hit!!! Before you would have to land the hit to get buff. Interesting!

Yep you just have to melee, and landing a punch is not required! 😆 I thought for a long time you had to hit someone...nope! 🤫
