- Take a look at the uncontested highest quality Laguiole cutlery manufacturer in France.
Only a hand full of manufacturers produce handmade Laguiole pocket knives as well as Laguiole corkscrews in the village of Laguiole, France. The most famous of them all is "Forge de Laguiole" (Forge of Laguiole).
One needs to beware that a large number of "Laguiole" manufacturers in France and sadly in other countries are producing "cookie cutter" Laguiole cutlery that is mass produced and cheaply made.
The questions are; Where was your Laguiole knife really made and how? Does your Laguiole folding knife has a forged blade?

The Opinel is my favourite French pocket knife.
The Laguiole is my favourite piece of French art.
The most beautifull and elegant shape of all the Laguiole knife manufacturers. The decoration too is kept to a reasonable level without becoming over the top and vulgar. I bought one in 1998 and it's still going strong.
Very intresting and informative! Thank you, I appreciate it a lot 👍
Greetings from the Netherlands 🌷, T.
Opinel is a safe tool, laguiole is a safe piece of art.
I recently purchased three laguiole knives from what are said to be three of the big names in laguiole style french knives.. One from forge de laguiole, one from Fontenille Pataud and one from Laguiole en aubrac. after inspecting and using each one i can say that the fontenille patud is leaps and bounds higher quality than the other two. Both forge de laguiole and laguiole en aubroc are inferior workmanship in both fit and finish. If you are interested in a laguiole style knife Fontenille Patud is the way to go
I just did
Did you also buy a Porsche, peugeot and renault? And liked the Porsche the most?

Passionnant !!!
Fantastic knife's!
I have had my Laguiole knife a year or so now, and I enjoy using it, it is well made and beautifully designed.
Mine was not well finished however, it had not seen quality control. That was disappointing.
There was a ding in the edge of the blade, and the plates to each side of the spring had jagged burrs along their edges.
Since I am a blacksmith these faults were not difficult to remedy, and I chose to finish the knife myself.
I do wonder if it is cheaper to have a returns facility than an adequate quality control system ...
This knife should NEVER have left the factory
If Laguiole wish to present as a high quality manufacturer, they need to walk the walk as well as they talk the talk.
As a smith, I put half an hour extra into everything I made, that did all my talking for me.
Have the accountants staged a coup ?
Très bien!
One of my Laguiole knives has an inverted cross in brass rivets on the handle. Why is that, please?
ogstopper Shepherds and such (not being able to make it to church) would stick the blade into something (a loaf of bread, maybe) thereby “righting” the cross and be able to pray...
@@heybruzzy8498 untrue it's just a tale invented by folks during the ages .
Et pourquoi pas en Français ☹️☹️
I have 1 this knife
Cet accent anglais m'écorche les oreilles
amazing she has no clue how to pronounce it properly... it is not ''LaGUIole'' but ''LaYole''
you shouldn't be using elephant ivory in your products.its distasteful and unclassy.
What a ridiculous thing to say, thousands of Elephant die every year, what would you do, just let them rot in the bush ?
It’s not distasteful. They taste great!!!
Idiotic thing to say
