Hi, do you have any tips on why I am sometimes ending up with uneven cure. I have noticed on my prints that when I cure (same oven as yours) there are some spots that didn't cure as well as the other spots. Thanks in advance.
If you're using a dryer shaker you might want to slow down the conveyor or bump the temp up a little. If you're using a sheet curing oven or hovering the head press above it to cure there can be hot and cold zones as the heating elements don't cover every single square inch. Try moving the print slightly halfway through the cure.
what about the little pinholes after curing? I am having the hardest time figuring out how to cure properly. The directions on the powder i use, if definitely leaving it ultra gritty and you can see tons of powder on it that isnt melted. Is it supposed to cure so there zero pits in it?? If so I can almost never get this effect using the curing oven that came with my printer bundle. My shirts almost always crack!! I've changed temps and times, pressing temps and times, even percentage of max ink use on printer both white AND color...can you help?! I just want a photo or vid on what a properly cured sheet should look like!! ty!!!!
The pinholes are fine. A properly cured transfer will have an orange peel texture, meaning it won't be perfectly smooth. If you are still seeing grains of adhesive powder...kind of like sandpaper it is definitely not cured enough. At the 40 second mark in the video you can see what a properly cured transfer looks like. Without seeing exactly what your setting are and what each step looks like it's hard to know exactly what changes you can make to get better results. Have you considered attending our DTF Bootcamp?
Why do they become oily?
Likely undercured...the oily feeling is coming from the glycerin in the white ink. The curing process usually gets rid of the glycerin but if it is undercured it will leave some on the transfer. Either cure for more time or raise the temperature a little. We recommend 110c for about 2:30.
