We had a helmet for our son 19 years ago. You had to have an actual plaster cast over the entire head. They came plain white, but my favorite part was decorating it. His first one we had airbrushed. His second we kept white and changed out stickers to fit holidays, seasons etc. We still have them both with teddy bears wearing them. They are the cutest and it really helped him.

To counteract this, it's extremely important for babies to have tummy time and to be frequently repositioned while they're awake. My states guidelines for daycares is every 20 minutes. Move them to a different seat, have them lay on their side. Some babies really don't like tummy time. Lay on the floor with them and turn it into play time. Try to extend the amount of time every day.
its not just that its less patents carrying babies and just laying them down babies doing less tummy time, lots of factors. neither of mine would sleep on their backs so they slept on their stomachs. they loved tummy time and baby carriers. swings and jumpers rarely were they on their backs. i know too many kids with flat heads from just lazy parents who dont pick them up enough
He’ll be fine and the helmet will work. It worked with me and that same type of situation happened with me and my head was a literal triangle. It’ll all be ok. It’s good that he’s finally getting treatment. Wishing you good luck

I didn't realize that's how they cast the helmets! How cool! My husband has MS and wears full leg braces. They have to physically cast his legs when it's time to adjust his braces or create new ones, so seeing them do it digitally is so interesting!

My son has several disabilities but he needed a helmet desperately. He couldn't hold his head up with or without the helmet, so he started holding his head up around 5-6yrs. Old, he's 10 now. Thankfully he has shoulder length hair and his curly locks cover his mishapen head. I think helet are so cute on kids.
My sister almost needed a helmet because she was always on her back and barley ever got tummy time (that’s what my mom said). But then she finally listened to the doctors and she didn’t need one. I always tell my sister that and make fun of her, but I did end up feeling bad about doing that so I apologized and stopped a year ago :)

My kid was in one for almost 9 months in a very hot Climate. Best advice is to take rubbing alcohol, a paper towel and clean it throughly (inside and out and on the edges….EVERY SINGLE TIME. Most helmets can get stinky but his three different ones NEVER SMELLED. Good luck and good job for getting him help so quickly!
My little brother had one when he was little and when you take it off for breaks I smells sooo bad be aware. Other than that it's not that bad. The best part is they look soooo cute.
My brother had craniosynostosis and had to get a helmet with dinosaurs on it. My parents still keep it around the house even though he’s 14. He’s all healthy he just has scar on his head. I was little when it happens for reference I’m 15 rn
My son had the same condition. His forehead was protruding outward. My pedestrian told me in time this would gradually change to normal shape. At 8 months old l insisted he refer me to a neurologist. He was seen at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. The doctor was surprised he wasn't referred to him much sooner. He stated most babies have the surgery performed between 2-3 months old. He had the surgery at 9 months. As the doctor said one of the concerns was the baby already crawling and possibly trying to stand at some point. So l quit my job to stay home with him. Obviously the helmet wasn't going to be enough to keep him out of harms way. His head turned out beautifully.
My baby is currently using a helmet and has been for 2 months now. I will say the more into summer it gets the more it stinks and I still feel bad having to put it on him every day after his one hour break!

Not a weird question, it's for a flat head because babies are supposed to sleep on their backs now. A lot of countries don't use the helmet because it has been proven to not be very effective. The head goes back to normal without it as well

Leaving your child in a basket/stroller when they are a baby, does cause a flat(er) head. Id recommend a baby carrier or holding your baby instead.
