Joy Saheb was born in Mumbai at Dr. Shirodkar's Hospital on 24th Feb 1939 not in Jhansi .
Joy Saheb did not study in Col. Brown's Dehra Dun but at Sacred Heart Convent in Santa Cruz Mumbai . Joy Saheb was a diligent student , good at his studies , well behaved and favorite of all his teachers . He would monitor school homework of his younger brothers .
Joy Saheb was a very simple , honest , grounded , down to earth person with no filmy hangups.
In his career, he was never involved in petty politics , controversies or scandals .
He treated his work like a job , after shootings he would be home bound like any other working man . He treated his colleagues with utmost respect on the sets . He was corperative , accommodating star for his producers and directors..One never gets to hear a single bad word or any negative talk about Joy Saheb in the industry . His film Humsaya was one of the causes for his financial loss .The film went over budget , was banned in two communist states Bengal and Kerala . The film's story was based on Chinese aggression of Bharat in 1962 .
Joy Saheb worked in 42 films with his film Ziddi being the highest grosser of the year it was released , so were Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon , Shagird , Ek Musafir Ek Hasina , Love in Tokyo and of course Love in Simla .
Joy Saheb was awarded the Best Director Award for Humsaya and lifetime achievement Award .
The Japanese Govt . awarded him too .
Very few know about his philanthropic work . He got several poor Dalit girls married , for this he would facilitate the weddings at his Filmalya Studio , he took responsibility of underprivileged children's education , extended medical assistance to the needy , never to say no to any one , he helped all who approached him .He never spoke about this and kept a low profile regd. this aspect of his life . He was a generous man . Born with a silver spoon, he would not have understood the pain of others , had he not experienced the hard times himself ...he often said this and thanked God for the difficult phase of his life which he believed turned him to be a better human being .
Deeply religious , Joy Saheb was completely a family man , indulgent loving caring to his wife and children . Protective , he kept them away from the industry's harsh glare .He was a dutiful son to his parents and a concerned brother to his siblings .He cherished his privacy and the time spent with his family .Joy Saheb was truely one of his kind ...with no replicates after him .

@Neelam Mukerji Thank you so much Neelam mam for sharing so many unknown facts of Joy Mukerji sir's life🙏 As you mentioned that he kept so many aspects of his life hidden from the public eye so we were not aware of many things about Joy sir's life. I already loved and respected him as an actor, but now my respect for Joy sir as a human being has grown so much more. One does get the impression of him being a simple, good hearted and a humble human being from his movies. His smile was so pure and innocent which surely reflected the purity of his heart on his face. I wish Joy sir had done a lot more movies for us fans to relish. I am from today's generation, but Joy sir is still my all time favorite actor. I don't like any other actors besides him. I keep watching all his movies on loop every day. I have even memorized each and every dialog of his movies. My most favorite movie of him is Humsaya maybe because that movie was so close to his heart ❤ He looked extremely handsome in Love in Bombay as well. He could have very well continued acting throughout the 70s and maybe parts of 80s as well because he was so fit and good looking even in 1972 movie Ek Baar Muskura Do. Mam, please do share why did Joy Sir stop acting so early in his career? Did he not enjoy acting anymore? He was too talented and good looking to have stopped acting so early. His internal purity and niceness reflected on his face and demeanour, not to mention his swoon-worthy good looks, charm and acting. Favourite movie 🎥 💕 Love in Tokyo 🗼. When I was a child . Studying in 6th standard. When l watch this movie 1St time on Doordarshan channel. I used to think that asha Parekh and Joy Mukherjee are real Life partner as husband wife. But when I asked my family. They said in movie they only act as on screen Life partner. In reality it will not happen. I still love this movie 🎥 the music 🎼 and songs are very meaningful words. In today movie 🎥 you won't get to see good music, 🎶 good songs, not good story writer. Old is always Gold 🪙. Thank u 🙏 50th, 60th 70th ,80th, 90th year.

Instead, his father was filmmaker Shishidhar Mukerji, a partner in the Filmistan Studio. Really, Joy Mukerji succeeded in carving a career in the Indian films when the Dilip-Raj-Dev triumvirate was ruling the roost. HIs memorable films include superhits Love In Shimla, Ek Musafir Ek Hasina, Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon, Ziddi, Love In Tokyo, Dil Aur Mohabbat, Hamsaya. His best pair was with Asha Parekhji and late Sadhnaji. Although, he worked with Mala Sinhaji, late Nandaji and Vyjaynathimalaji also. Tall and handsome Joy Mukerji had a huge fan-following across the length and breadth of the country. Music in all Joy Mukerjee's films was, in particular, the best attraction. Padamshree Asha Parekhji still regrets that she could not call on Joy Mukerji despite his invite before his passing away when they by chance met on way. R.I.P. Dear departed Joy Mukerjee!
