15:47 The only Tom Ford eyeglasses whose T on the temples line up are.... Made in Japan and made from titanium. I have 2 pairs of Tom Ford made on Japan and made from titanium frames whose T's line up. They are also extremely comfortable. On the other I bought a pair of Tom Ford black acetate glasses made in Italy.... And they are extremely uncomfortable to wear. One temple puts a lot of pressure on my ear that ends up giving me a headache. I have tried stretching them, I had tried to have them professionally stretched.... And the THICK acetate does not bend, or if it does is goes back to its original shape. I have worn them a handful of times due to how much they irritate, and hurt my ear. And yes, the T does not line up.
Good question. The quality can actually refer to a few things - the age or make-up of the original acetate, the time put into the finishing and polishing and the embellishments. Better quality acetate tends to be heavier, actually, but better finished acetate tends to feel lighter and softer on the face. For lightweight acetate frames, it's super important that the material is pre-hardened and finished with metal-to-metal joints on the hinges otherwise it is likely to chip or crack. An example would be the Airlite frames from Anglo American Optical - compare them to the thin acetates from Oliver People's and I think they are superior for a slightly lower price.

We filed a report to the European Union on this company as it clearly has a monopoly which is forbidden under EU law. Furthermore, the company he most wanted to buy was Maui Jim, and they told him to f*** off. So then he tried to buy the factory that made the Maui Jim frames in Italy and failed. It is kind of funny to watch this channel's videos, because in my country, most of the lenses and frames he mentions are not even available, and luxottica actually has competitive pricing. It is kinda sad to see that any of the better options here are 3x more expansive than an expansive ray-ban (Which would be around 50% to 70% of a minimum wage)
Well, the current situation is a bit more complex. Not everything is bells and whistles when it comes to Safilo. The business scheme is almost the same as in Luxottica's case. Take for example Carrera. After Safilo purchased Carrera in 1996, the same year ALL production was moved to Henan, China. On the other hand, Persol was bought by Luxottica in 1995, but to this day, Persol sunglasses are handmade in its historic factory in Lauriano, Italy.
Recently discovered the channel, great content! Quick question, have you had experience with brands from the Eschenbach company? Their titanium ones from titanflex and the acetate ones from Marc o’polo look really good, but it’s difficult to find reviews about eyewear companies
I always buy new frame a year, but I always like slightly bigger frames now these days. My prescription is -6.5 , but I sense that bigger frame vision quality isn't that great. Is it that 1.74 plastic lenses has more distortion and maybe I should look at glass frame rather than plastic?
It's not the material, it's the lens design. What lens type are you wearing? Pretty sure with SmartLife or ClearView for example you would get great vision in a large frame
@The Spectacle Factory i got my glasses from oliver people. Not sure what is the brand but it was pretty expensive... my frame was like 600 and the lense was a little more
@@thespectaclefactory ok and who is Breed lol? Another newer brand I’m seeing places with titanium frames etc but there is zilch on RUclips or the web about them other than their own page. Thanks
How about C Dior frames ? In particular one of their recent model, the CD Diamond S21, presented with a video hinting a high manufacturing quality : what is your opinion ?
Hi Robert, my prescription is -7.75/ -7.00 every time when I have my glasses made, my eyes tend to shrink a lot with glasses. I am using the Zeiss lens and tend to stick with the Duravision Platinum coating. Would you say a 1.74 lens would have less of the shrinking effect compared to the 1.67 for my prescription? Also does the new Zeiss Clearview reduces this shrinking effect compared to the normal AS category? I appreciate for your help.
Yes, but in your prescription if you want the best result I would recommend 1.9 index glass. ClearView should reduce magnification slightly as they come out flatter
@@thespectaclefactory Thanks. I still would like to stick with the plastic type of lens. In that case, would there be a difference in the eye minimising between the normal AS, stock ClearView, Superb and Individual. I came across EnergiseMe, as I am a regular contacts wearer. However, are skeptical of the differences between itself and for example ClearView.
There definitely is a difference. The add boost for one! ClearView has no near vision improvement. EM does. Probably the minification would be equal with all 1.74 plastic options
I've been watching your videos and i've learned a lot, thanks, maybe you can help me, I have a large head, which is why it is very difficult for me to find a pair of large optical glasses that have a clip-ons available to buy, most brands only have medium or small size glasses with clip ons, In your experience is there a brand I can look for? can you guide some of us with big heads that love clip ons? Sounds like the fit of the Face a Face isn't right - have you asked your optician to adjust them?
@@thespectaclefactory I’ll have to swing by. It’s at the nose bridge. Pads were digging in my nose when I got them. Then I adjusted them so they lay flush on my nose…….but still not comfortable. Maybe I should still to acetate 🤷🏽♀️
Why your facebook page is not working?
Very informative
Glad it was helpful!
What do think of True Vintage Revival (TVR)?
Hi Robert , what do you think about PAUL SMITH sunglasess .?
It is kind of funny to watch this channel's videos, because in my country, most of the lenses and frames he mentions are not even available, and luxottica actually has competitive pricing. It is kinda sad to see that any of the better options here are 3x more expansive than an expansive ray-ban (Which would be around 50% to 70% of a minimum wage)
Which one has more quality tom ford or ray-ban sunshades?
Can you make a video about warranty details per brand? 🎉
That's a great suggestion! we'll definitely consider it
Well, the current situation is a bit more complex.
Yeah, I don't rate them
I always buy new frame a year, but I always like slightly bigger frames now these days.
Not sure what is the brand but it was pretty expensive... my frame was like 600 and the lense was a little more
OP are probably the best Luxottica frame, but in future get Barton Perreira instead!
I am interested in the engineering processes and in the profit margins. well done.
Who makes Louis Vuitton’s glasses and are they crap or ok? I didn’t see them listed under any of those companies.
Made be Thelios and they're pretty good but definitely not the best.
@@thespectaclefactory ok and who is Breed lol? Another newer brand I’m seeing places with titanium frames etc but there is zilch on RUclips or the web about them other than their own page. Thanks
Anyone know any website that sends just the frame? Sp i can the glass on my own for my eysight
We can provide you with the frames only, if you like
@@thespectaclefactory ship to USA? Atl Georgia? If so where can i order
Could you talk about four nines please?
Thoughts on Thelios??
How about C Dior frames ? In particular one of their recent model, the CD Diamond S21, presented with a video hinting a high manufacturing quality : what is your opinion ?
What about Porsche Design?
They are made by historic German manufacturer Rodenstock
Now made by an Italian manufacturer called De Rigo S.p.A., who also make brands as Police, Chopard, Zadig & Voltaire, etc.
Hello guys,
Can you please give me more information on modo frames.
Will probably doing a showcase on them this year. But in the meantime feel free to email us hello@thespectaclefactory.com
Hello! Love your content! Could you please review The Optical Factory, which includes Seraphin, OGI and LA Eyeworks. Thank you so much Robert!
i’m trying to start a small eyewear business , what are good quality places i can get frames wholesale from?
lol good luck. the market is so saturated and consolidated, there's no point
Thanks :)

Why you never talk about Dita?
Perhaps he had a personal rift with them.
Doesn't marcolin own barton perreira now?
