I came across information that STEP format prints with less poly showing than 3MF resulting cleaner curves. Is STEP better over all than 3MF with other details? I also heard malicious individuals can insert malicious instructions and codes within the files. I have been using 3MF with great results, but I have concerns when sharing those files in that format can be received with reluctance. Are the other formats have the same risks?

Hello! 3MF is a mesh file format representing models by tessellating them into triangles. STEP, on the other side, is a parametric CAD file format. Like any digital file format (3D model, image, video, document, and more), it is technically possible to inject malicious code though we haven't heard of a major problem and 3MF is increasingly popular.

@@3dnatives Thank you for your reply. I have switched to 3FM in my digital store from my tabletop terrain. I’m new in the fray, people have downloaded some of my files, but not in great number yet. I was wondering if maybe 3MF was trusted very much, or I really suck :P

Hello again, it really is a personal preference in this case. If the popularity of 3MF is a concern to you, you can always export both in 3MF and STL and offer the option for both.

I just gotta let you know that I didnt survive the bg music, and to a lesser degree the sound effects. Did you get confused on the difference between an entertainment video versus an infotainment video? LOL I guess I'm getting too old! 😊

Hello! Sorry to hear you didn't like the music and sound effects. We try to make our videos interesting and dynamic even when talking about technical information, and if you prefer, we also have written guides on our website (3dnatives.com/en).
