  • This video will show you what do and leave when installing a shaft torque sensor - and how to align it accurately without expensive tools.
Torque sensors from Kistler deliver precise measurement results in various applications. When installing one, it is very important to use couplings at both ends - otherwise not only the sensor lifetime is reduced but there’s also a danger of false measurements caused by disturbing forces.
As long as your sensor has a twist protection (against rotating) and the speed do not exceed 3000 rpm, you can use the floating installation. In this case, half couplings such as a single disc coupling are required.
A fixed installation - with a mounting base and full couplings - is more complex but offers greater possibilities for measurements, which is why our expert Luis Wessely recommends this approach.
Check out the video for further details and learn how to align sensor, specimen and load machine accurately even in case you don’t have a laser at hand. Luis also shows you how to test your setup properly in order to know if everything is ready for correct torque measurements.
