Samyang is ok if you don’t need AF for fast action. The AF comparison in this video is very basic and doesn’t tell us the truth. Put the camera at tracking mode and a fast running dog in front of you.

Comparison for the samyang 135mm f1.8 vs Sony 135mm f1.8 GM. Also sony allows the full 30fps on an a1 and a9 camera. Where as samyang sony has limited third party lenses to 15fps

Sony are overpricing their lenses & its all about branding as I know many togs will not use samyang but choose to look cool because they are sporting a G Master lens . Its snobbery but hey if they wanna pay double for to be cool well bigger fool them thats my thoughts . Ive shot a lot of samyang glass & believe my images stand out for it , the look you get is less unique with the newer samyang lenses im finding but the quality is outstanding .
Great review & thanks for showing it how it is & not been influenced by peer pressure in our industry that puts down third party lenses as garbage

Third party lenses are really hitting hard and coming close to the same quality as the native lenses

Until you put the 135 g master on a sony A9, A1 etc and want 20+ fps.
I'd put money on it that in the real world, the g master outperforms it in AF accuracy for fast moving subjects.
The g master will have better quality build.
I've had the lens and sold it to a mate, it's a beast. The sammy looks great for a hobbyist and is great value. The GM is pro level

@The Marksman sony you get the full 30fps. Samyang you get 15fps. But to be honest 15fps is plenty unless you are a full time sports photographer where you need that 30fps different story.

The Sony is borderline better, but at that price its an unnecessary luxury to purchase the Sony. Thanks for this review, it demonstrates how over priced lenses are.

I have the Sony 135mm 1.8 GM Lens, it is excellent, I have been using it for all kind of photography, but now I only use rarely, fx for Landscape, it is big and heavy, so I often left it behind in my car. I do a lot of Macro Photography, so now I very often use the Voigtländer Macro APO-Lanthar 110mm 2.5 which is build like a tank, it have outstanding image quality, at aperture 2.5 and 2.8 it is sharper than the Sony 135mm ! I can very highly recommend Voigtländer APO-Lanthar Lenses !
