  • Abstract: The Phoenician pottery represents one of the most fascinating cultural phenomena of Antiquity. Rooted in ancient Levantine traditions, Phoenician pottery spread across the Mediterranean, where workshops in various coastal regions independently adapted Levantine prototypes. These workshops created new ceramic styles tailored to the socio-economic demands of their locales. This lecture aims to explore the nature of these new productions by analyzing the key aspects that characterize the Levantine centers which inspired them.
Dr. Núñez specializes in the study of Levantine pottery from the Iron and late Bronze Age. Currently he co-directs the Lebanese-Spanish project in Tyre and cooperates with the PCMA mission in Chhim and Jiyeh. He worked at various Lebanese sites, including Kharayeb and Beirut.
