How to Fix The Google Pixel Bootloop (Maybe)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 16 сен 2024
- After my Nexus 5X started bootlooping, I went straight out and bought a Google Pixel. 4 months later - same problem, different phone. I was saved by the warranty this time, but I reckon the same fix that saved the 5X could apply to the Pixel as well.
Check out my Nexus 5X repair videos:

its stupid that a company as big as google can mess up in such a big way
It is stupid! And quite annoying.
They didn't "mess up". They engineer it like that with the sole purpose of the user giving up and buying a new phone from them.
Planned or "designed obsolescence." Look this up. It is a very non-German, non-American method of manufacturing - for centuries a product was valued for and praised for
its craftsmanship - its durability and longetivity. Why is this shady business practice of designed obsolescence allowed? The implications in answering this lead to unsettling deductions and
conclusions.
Because you can have all the money of the world, if you're a dumbass capitalist then you will make a buggy smparthone, because it makes more money !!
I normally never comment on RUclips, but wanted to put this out there in case it can help anyone! I have the Pixel3 and the same thing has happened to me several times. One thing that has worked twice for me so far is plugging it so I can see the charging icon. The charging icon usually disappears right before the phone turns itself on (in the infinite reboot cycle). The moment the charging icon disappears, I unplug it before it can reboot. Then repeat as many times as it let's me (usually 5-7 times). Eventually, it restarts without giving you enough warning to unplug it. When it turns on-- it instantly crashes exactly the same way as before (and you feel completely hopeless). BUT, then. It starts charging and doesn't turn itself on. Wait until it's charged to 100%, then turn on.
Haha, that’s wild, but I’m glad it worked for you. Flagship phones are so expensive, you’ve got to keep them working
THE FREEZER TRICK WORKED FOR ME!! I went to the recovery screen, turned the phone off, then I put the phone in a ziplock bag, by itself without the case. Left it in the freezer for about 2 hours. Took it out then let it cool off for about 30 minutes or more till it was only a little cold and not freezing cold. Then attempted to turn it on and it turned on!
The problem initially started for me when I had my flashlight on. I had it on for a while because I was reading a book, I walked away from the phone and came back and it had the bootloop issue. I tried all sorts of methods to try to get it working including trying to get to the recovery screen and reebooting. But nothing worked. Putting it in the freezer while turned off though did fix the issue for me. Just sharing my findings
Nice! Definitely back up ASAP
@@WhatUpTKHereYou're right it broke again very soon after unfortunately
Hey guys!! Update...
Found a new solution that is actually no one would ever have thought...
Try opening the device but be careful that you don't break the screen...
And unplug everything from the motherboard the camera, headphone jack, antenna, power button, etc.
And just plug in the battery, display and power button outside of the phone
Try turning it on if it works
And if it does boot to home screen plug off the device from battery and one by one Try attaching every single component so you'd know what is shorting in the circuit
For me it was my main camera and I was messing my brain up on the main board
I hope it helps and feel free to ask any questions if you don't correctly understand what I'm tryna say...
Very interesting, I'd love to try this!
same happened with my pixel. It appears some connection in circuitry got warped enough that the system locks up randomly lasting somewhere between 5 to 15 seconds upon boot. I force bended the phone slightly to keep the pressure on and it allowed me to use the phone long enough to retrieve all my files out. Took me few days to understand the phone's irate behavior but pressure worked for me.
Nice fix!
I just put my phone in the freezer for 3 minutes when you said temperature. Didn't even watch the whole video. But it worked so whatever lol
i'm trying this now. I hope it works for me too. Very frustrating. They say it's a motherboard issue and that it'll cost $400(CAD) to fix.
@@flimsyfilms68 good luck... In my situation, it was self imposed and just happened to be on a really hot day. Hope things are as simplistic for you as they were for me
Hey Canextro, it worked -- but for a few minutes only. So every time I put the Pixel in the freezer, it runs for a couple of minutes at a totally normal perfect speed, but then the screen freezes, the phone crashes and goes back to boot loop. Maybe I should try heat on it?!!
@@flimsyfilms68 well then I guess it's safe to say that it's temperature related. I don't know if there's a way to fix it really other than getting it checked out. I'm not really a tech guy, so take what I say with a grain of salt lol
While using an app in normal conditions, mine crashed then started bootlooping. I was able to reach the recovery menu by holding down Power+Vol down. Brought up the bootloader menu, reset that, then selected Recovery mode, mounted the system, ran the diagnostic tests on that menu, and it worked a little bit. I got the phone to boot and stay running with it connected to a PC. Backed up all my favorite pics. Off the cable, the phone was very unstable and randomly rebooted.
Found this video, tried the freezer based on this comment. 1hr + was more effective than just 15mins. Talked to Google (they were unaware of the freezer as being a troubleshooting tool, but didn't chastise me for it) they said uninstall the app I was using during the crash and reinstall it. They also gave me some steps to boot in Safe Mode - which my Pixel never did. I could intermittently get to the Recovery mode menu and eventually I factory reset the phone.
Now about 2 days in, I've found that after about an hour in the freezer, it's good for a couple hours of random reboots. But after a while , it reaches a point where it will only boot loop - flash the white screen with the word Google (no animation, and no vibration).
Took it to the uBreakiFix store for diagnostics. They already checked the battery and ruled that out...waiting for their findings now.
It's same with me I got loop after one year like its loop on 368 day of purchasing
Same. A year after my warranty expired.
Think I fixed mine...
I put it in the ownen at 150c very high
Heard a sound, screen had popped due to the heat and maybe battery swelling.
Removed the screen and all the electrical connectors insider, battery too. I then put it all together and now it has been working for 24h before I looped every 3 sec
Wow! Definitely risky putting a battery in the oven like that but glad it worked for you. Definitely back your stuff up!
@@WhatUpTKHere it still works no restarts. Amazing my tip remove screen and take it apart all the way to the battery.

Same happened to me with my Pixel-1 32GB just from 2 days back. Need to talk with HTC service center peoples as they are giving service for the Pixel-1 phone in India.
I've been using it in the sauna....
just started bootlooping....a few days after my last session
wonder why....smh
thanks for the share
Seo Michael haha, ah man, that's a shame! Sauna probably not a good place for any phones tbh :(
if you didnt get it resolved, contact me
how?
@@nometalgearr if you resolved tell me please
No. I took it to ubreakifix (a mobile shop in Canada that was working with Google at the time to fix these issues) and they fixed it for free although it was out of warranty.

Hahah, you know it mate, that’s the decor out this way but
@@WhatUpTKHere Had to be. Ps. My pixel xl just proper died, granted my daughter had been using for over a year and a half. Might pull it apart and try reflowing.
Troy Graham good luck, hope you can get it going!
5s and now pixel xl it's crazy!
Yep!
I know it's 2019, but do you want a Pixel XL that started in a boot loop today? I just ordered the Pixel 3, no plans for my stuck pixel xl...
Sure, contact me on Twitter? @whatuptkhere
cheers!
Mine just started doing this today as well...next couple of days of dealing with 2FA walls is going to suck.
Had that problem when my phone number changed. Got locked out of government accounts, took months to untangle.
Did you solve it ?
i was playing fortnite and talking with a friend and when i closed fortnite my phone just crashed and went to a bootloop and i was searching why the issue and it was faulty hardware any idea or help? :/ (it is a pixel XL)
Heat could help! If unsure, take to a repair tech
So the problem I'm facing is whenever i try to power it on... it just shows a google logo and then restarts just continues the cycle...
And when i try to boot in recovery from bootloader it again starts the bootlooping cycle.. any help here??
PS my bootloader isn't unlocked so i couldn't also try reflashing the device with stock firmware...
You could look at my previous videos showing the use of freezing or heat to fix the Nexus 5x temporarily.
However if it's bootlooping regularly it's unlikely you'll be able to restore it to reliable operation long term
@@WhatUpTKHere it just never boots into the system OS itself just a google logo - black screen - logo - black screen... trying to boot into recovery won't work plus i saw in the video of your's that there was a part 2 about 1.5 minutes long in which you tried to heat the phone with a heat gun... how long did it last, cause i wanted a long term fix atleast till i manage to account for the finances for a new phone... will a heat gun help in this process??

May be worth taking it apart to investigate!
2 months before my contract ends and just had a new baby recently and lost all my pictures before I could save onto Drive.
Praying this works

SO fucking pissed. I had a two Nexus 6's that ended in this issue. Got a Pixel XL, had it and was happy for almost 4 years. It was stolen (why i will never know, the value is like next to nothing). Got a Pixel 4, had this issue. Rolled back to my ex bf's old Pixel, and here we are again, the dreaded fucking bootload.
Very frustrating. :/
@@WhatUpTKHere im just so sad. i just want a nexus 6, and have it work forever
Just spam the power button and volume down button
Interesting technique
DUDE THIS IS THE ONLY THING THAT WORKED WHAT?!
WHAT A FUCKING GENIUS !!! WORKED
Thankyouu... But what next? Is it going to reset or what?
It happens to some iPhones but over time the phone fixes itself
I think google purposely design their phones so it bootloops after a couple years to get u to buy their newer phone which doesn’t make sense
It's pretty frustrating
Lazarus rising from the dead . . my Pixel XL is revived for the 2nd time from the white logo bootloop ... the first time I did the press during boot on the screen and it worked after several times . . .second time now that did not work -- I suspected charging the old girl overnight is too much so I put it in the ice box over ice for 15 minutes and voila . . . go figure - but after 53 years of marriage at age 83 if it works . . go for it :)
Ha! Good result
iPhones (8 and below) can get stuck in a boot loop if the proximity sensor flex is damaged, and there are countless other devices of various kinds with known issues where a modular component failure can cause a total system failure. In comments here with people sharing their experiences has anyone reported any attempt to replace components or even reflow or replace the daughter board located at the bottom of the phone?
So frustrating, hey. Would also love to know.
I'm thinking about using the oven at 120 ° c but since I usually burn my food pretty...do you think a hair dryer might work.
Give it a go!
Oven may melt your whole phone
Mine didn't work ata any of those procedures, I waited for the battery to run down then did the connecting and disconnecting the charger expecting for the filling sign to appear not thecharging connecting, when the zero appeared everything went well,
I did this also last few years with my galaxy note8
Pulled my sim card out. FIXED THE PROBLEM!!!
same happened on mine. what is the permanent fix as i need the sim inside to work
That's super weird, were you able to put the SIM card back in and return it to full functionality?
mine started when i removed my sim card
wow thanks. acually fixed it for me too (pixel 1 xl)... even recovery mode came to a bootloop, i thought i would have to buy a new phone.
im so glad i read your comment now.
THANK YOU I THOUGHT I LOST EVERYTHING
i came here bcuz my mom pixel did the same and keep on giving heat and drain all of the battery percentage
Ah that sounds bad!
@@WhatUpTKHere it is, and there's no warranty, my mom only used it for a few month
Had/have the same issue you had with the Nexus 5x and now with my Pixel 1. I like the Google pure Android, but I a with you, and may dump the brand. With the cost of phones these days (they are no longer subsidized in the US by the Carrie) they should last longer. Thought about a pixel 3 but now I am leaning iPhone.
Worth a shot - not sure what I'll do after Pixel 1; might stop updating for a while and start filming with some dedicated hardware with the savings.
Is there a serial number range or date of production .
Anyone interested in purchasing my Google pixel XL ? It's stuck in boot loop and I can't fix it. It is mint condition, white and sad this happend I loved my pixel!
Sad they fail so easy
This video is all about nothing? This guy talked for 4 minutes and didn't say much
clf laz wallpaper is pretty tasty though, hey
He did. It all went over you.
Oh, I’am not one with this problem, also twice with the same google pixel 1. But I will buy the third one. What can I do, love only this one
They’re decent phones when they work!
i had this issue on my nexus 5x and its completely dead now, what to do now?
ANUBHAV RAJ check my other videos for a fix, but try and get a warranty repair first.
TK it's out of warranty is LG says and they are not ready to fix this for free.
ruclips.net/video/SD25mdrgAys/видео.html You can try this fix, or pay LG to fix it.
TK not getting fixed it's completely dead ..😥
Anubhav, if it is still within 30 months since you bought it, LG will fix it for free. I got mine fixed just last week. Search for "nexus 5x class action suit"
Is this same as stuck on logo?
Yes!
@@WhatUpTKHere thank you for replying
@@WhatUpTKHere can you make a video what cause the bootloop?
My pixel keeps restarting
That’s rough!
It's the power volume flex cable.
I have the same problem as the video, it will be caused by the power and volume buttons
replace the cable only?
I was unable to select options in the boot loader based on the power button not functioning properly but looping restarts as though it's pressed. I read a comment elsewhere to put your mouth on the power button and suck, put a little spit in the button and suck and it worked. Not breathe in, but suck like a straw. So anyone seeing this, give it a shot. Worked for me.
Okay I have the same problem now. Did anyone resolve it? I haven't tried what others told in the comments section like putting in a freezer or heat gun or removing the sim card. The only thing I tried was put the phone in charging quite extensively for longer period that it became a bit hot and the phone went to recovery mode. I was able to flash the ota from Google. But didn't help
Funnily enough my warranty replacement Pixel is still going strong.
You may have to try a more risky solution; sounds like you don’t have much to lose as it’s already dead
If you're experiencing with it showing Google logo, blacking out and reshowing it over and over, sometimes getting to the G with a loading bar then it may be a problem with the ufs. If you're seeing it stay on the G logo forever try flashing latest stock.
@@JaredD but the bootloader was locked so i can't flash rom 😢
My Google pixel too not turned on. How I fix it?
You could try the heat gun method I use in my Nexus 5X repairs
nexus 4 => bootloop after 2 years
nexus 5x => bootloop after 2 years
pixel xl => bootloop after 1 year (bought used)
Luckily, almost every time, I was ready for an upgrade anyway, but Google needs to get the QC under control >:(

@@WhatUpTKHere it's Google's mobile service. You can... Uh... Google it?
Abe Dillon ah I see! doesn’t exist down this way.
Built in obsolescence - it was a thing when I left IT 20 years ago - not surprised to see it's still a thing. I'd handed my 12 month old pixel to my wife when I bought my pixel2 12 months ago. Hers has just gone to bootloop heaven, just about to take it to crematorium to see if the heat thing works. She's gutted as she'd only ever had seriously POS phones and has finally got involved in social media etc and was about to go full on bank apps etc, literally a day later - boom!!
Looks like it's time to hand down my pixel2 and invest in a 3a ;)
I formatted and now is in bootloop alltime
Oh no :(
bootlooping on the G screen of my google pixel 2 xl. Luckily under warranty, but still gonna have to pay best buy to transfer all my stuff over. rip.
That sucks that it's still happening on even the latest models. Warranty or no, it's a big pain in the ass.
I reckon I'm gonna stick with my Pixel 1 for a few more years till it dies, and use the savings to get an SLR to shoot with.
Best buy told me they didn't have the tools to get the data off..
Pixel phones are worst in my own experisnce ,yes features and softwares are great and good but their phones build-up quality is below some average phones ,my experiance says that just dont buy this shit
Yeah they're not always great
I got a bootloop from beta 6, it was stuck on G. Factory reset, good. Software issue lol
Glad you had an easy fix!
I'll let you know if it works....and what temperature u set it too. Lol
Ahahaha best of luck!
My first Pixel phone, and this is what worries me about these phones. When I had problems with Apple phones, just pop over to the Apple store and I'd get it fixed. Sometimes they were out of warranty and they would say how much it would cost, but usually I walked out 15 minutes later with a working phone. Google? They are like dealing with Guido, the shady guy you can sometimes find on the street corner, it is hit and miss. At any rate, I will not get an answer in one visit and I'll have to wait even if they will fix my problem through the mail.
I got absolutely screwed on my 5X. Bootlooped, but LG Australia refused to fix it as I'd bought it in Hong Kong, and LG HK wanted crazy money to fix it. Total bullshit.
mee too
