@@wierd_fishez Lol it's not a direct quote; "empty movement" _is_ a line out of this song tho, and Saionji does tell Utena _in the very first episode_ that "it's a trick of the light" (apparently referring just to the floating castle above the dueling arena, but I think there are enough clues to believe that Saionji knew the truth all along). I just found it kind of ironic that a song that (in context) is all about delusion and futility would make someone feel powerful - then again, maybe that just means that it's working as intended.
@@askyle Well, the complimentary animation is pretty epic... As for the meaning; I always thought that this song was about the human race, it's place in the universe and the uncertain purpose of it. Virtual Star Embryology: It's said that humans are made of stardust. Somehing virtual is something that doesn't exist in reality, something imaginary. Ancient times, perfection: Our conciousness is a product millions years of evolution which happened to have all the right ingredients for it, hence perfection. isolation in the desert: The solar system fits the description of "isolation in the desert". There's no conscious life really out there beyond earth, is there? Just emptiness. Atmosphere, atom, casualty star: Pretty much same as the "Ancient times, perfection" line. The embryo of philosophy/The embryo of salvation: What we call "human", our attempt to find reason, religion--those are all products of our thought, our philosophy. Lunar heaven, mercurian heaven, etc: Again, a solar system motive. A single organic mechanism/A single perpetual motion machine/Yes, it is empty motion/Only empty motion: We don't know our purpose in this world and how we came to have conciousness. Eeven without conciousness, we are guided by our instincts like a mechanism. We're always moving for the sake of moving. Also, I think the lyrics are pretty metafictional. Maybe the reason why such a grand, complex language is used is because the act of writing a song searching for humanity's meaning and purpose is... futile.
Ancient times, perfection, isolation in the desert
Atmosphere, atom, casualty star
A divine child is conceived
The embryo of philosophy
Ovum, perfection, origin in a nest
Stamen, pistil, a single seed
A divine child develops
The embryo of salvation
But then
Lunar heaven, mercurian heaven, venutian heaven, solar heaven, martian heaven
Jovian heaven, saturnian heaven, stellar heaven, motive heaven
And then
The endless surface of the abyss
A single organic mechanism
A single perpetual motion machine
Yes, it is empty motion
Only empty motion
But then
Lunar heaven, mercurian heaven, venutian heaven, solar heaven, martian heaven
Jovian heaven, saturnian heaven, stellar heaven, motive heaven
And then
The endless surface of the abyss
A single organic mechanism
A single perpetual motion machine
Yes, it is empty motion
Only empty motion
That is all it is
Listened to this for ages grooving on the voice as instrumental jam. Love that planet thing. Turns out the words rock too. Many thanks. ❤

Dance with your sword as you play prince, then... in the end, it is all an empty movement, just a trick of the light.
@@askyle OH ive forgotten about that line lol. was it saionji who said it? also, so that's where the utena archive group got its name huh

probably not, but it's okay
Facts, this is too Shouwa vocally, but that's its only problem. In all other aspects I simply prefer Truth
