This devotional may have literally saved me! After recently competing in a running race I was having some strange chest discomfort. I went to the doctor, and after running some basic tests they couldn't find anything wrong, which was concerning to me as I knew something wasn't right. What are the odds that I would go on a road trip across the country, stop in a random church building on a Sunday in Nebraska, have a doctor give a talk that Sunday, bring up this talk from 30 years ago about a heart condition, by a leader in our church who happened to be a heart surgeon? As soon as he started talking about it, I pulled out my phone and looked up mitral valve prolapse and it matched all my symptoms. God loves each one of us, I am in awe of his grace.
I work with a nurse who worked with Dr. Nelson when he was a practicing surgeon. She said it was his nature to listen to what the leaders of the Lord’s Church would as us as members to do. Then, he would make changes in his life to follow their latest counsel. After a general conference Dr. Nelson would go to work to conform his life to the counsel given. For example when one of the prophets said we should learn a foreign language, brother Nelson did so. This nurse told me Dr. Nelson’s tendency to be quick to obey was regularly mocked by some other coworkers. They accused him of being mindlessly obedient, or coddling up to the Church leaders. The nurse told me that she felt he was simply and purely obedient to the word of the Lord. She said when Dr. Nelson became an apostle and then the prophet she was not surprised because the Lord knows the integrity of his heart and that he is both humble and courageous and he will be obedient. God can count on him to do His will. I am not even close to this level of obedience but I’m grateful to President Nelson for showing me how to be a disciple of Christ. I pray for his safety and health and that the Lord will continue to try to guide me by directing President Nelson.

ive heard this talk several times and its still so powerful. the first time it was instructive about the heart etc. but today its teaching me to seek better role models and make it easier to assess my own weaknesses and call them out and look for solutions :) in a powerful way! :)

I love the spiritual teachings of this good man. ....the date of this is confusing, as he says his son is on a mission in Russia and his son is older than being on a mission 6 years ago????? ....also, he looks younger than being around 88 years old?
God is great. The book I wrote for God will be published , God willing, in about September 2021. It is called 'the power of unity'. Only the purified will be able to accept the truths coming, D&C 38: 7-8. One way to be purified, God said to me, is to become a vegan, because meat pollutes. I have become vegan for about three months now, but I still struggle to avoid sucrose, in time God will help me even remove that obstacle to purity.
