I hope you're safe over there? I hope this year brings happiness, prosperity, love , and peace all over the world 🌏. Oh my goodness! It’s beautiful! One thing I do to get over imperfections when sewing is thinking about the Japanese term Wabi-sabi. It means appreciating the beauty of imperfection. Our imperfect way of sewing make our creations uniquely beautiful ❤
It turned out so beautiful! Absolutely perfect! You got the fit spot on!!! Great job!!! Promoting slow sewing and showing your results is very inspiring!

I am glad you went back to sewing. This outfit makes you look amazing. Thanks to your videos I have stopped to be afraid to adjust my makes. Take care!
You made such a fabulous top! The fabric choose is perfect! I love how happy you look in the last few shots, and appreciate you taking us though the hard parts. It makes it all real and wonderful!
Claire! You look radiant in this blouse! ❤ I actually love the dark buttons, they show up as a design detail. The fit is lovely. I must say that I appreciate all your video close ups and angles, as well as the editing notes. I know it usually takes longer to edit than to film! I hear you about slow sewing, that’s definitely where I am. I know you asked your viewers to share their opinions, (I love it on you) but tbh, nothing is as important as your own opinion because you are the one who made it, imperfections and all. Well done, Claire 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🫶🏻
Well done Claire, no wonder you're so proud, it's exceptional. The fit, the fabric and style are all coming together perfectly and shout "look out world, here I come". Gorgeous. ❤
Absolutely stunning! I think that the care that you put into making a garment that's to your standards and liking shows through 100%. It looks amazing on you. Well done!
I am so happy you started posting again, because I just found you two weeks ago and I’ve been binging your older videos 😂. I was gifted a sewing machine (and the fabric) for piecing my first quilt, but I have my heart set on making my first piece of clothing soon.
Good luck! I have a quilt I (barely) started a few years ago. I’ll get around to finishing that at some point (look out for it). Thank you for binging my videos that helps creators more than you realise! ❤️
One of the things about losing weight is that taking in is easy, so that excuse not a strong one for me. I fall victim to falling in love to a fabric's potential. Then nothing is good enough to make it from. Think that is common especially if you buy the fabric on impulse rather than with a plan. That top is great, you really did a good job.
Looove this. Particularly enjoy (and benefit from) you trying on the toile on camera, it's obvious how beneficial the process is. I never used to make toiles but like you, only have the best fabric left after decluttering and using the rest, so it's definitely more worthwhile (and, indeed, necessary). As someone with ME as well, I appreciate what a big job this project was, along with the video making itself. I think it's one of your best videos and best sewing pieces. I love it!
I love this video too for the reality check on REAL sewing/construction time. I feel motivated to sew a prized piece of fabric and not get down on myself if it takes 6weeks to complete. In fact it will be perfect timing for early fall. 👍👍 great job Claire!
Wow! Just wow! Love the top, love the fabric, love the buttons, love the music selection, and love your hair! For cryin' out loud, Claire . . . who gave you permission to be so stinkin' adorable?
Thank you. I always thought I had a warm undertone but people always love me in cool colours so I’m probably cool. I think I did my colours online a while ago it came up cool summer but I never trust those apps. Check out the burrito video for a more in-depth description
That top is beautiful and the buttons are perfect! Love Fred! I have 14 cats and they are NOT allowed in the sewing room! LOL. One of them, Christmas Eve (she was in our house when we came home from church and we dont know how that happened; she was very pregnant and we couldnt put her outside) still tries to get in there because when she had her kittens it was the best room to confine her in, away from the other cats. That was over 4 years ago and she still tries to get in there, she thinks it's "her" room or she wonders if she left any kittens behind, I dont know.
The top, the print is lovely and the buttons are perfect--they do not stand out. The top probably feels heavy if you are not accustomed to wearing linen in that quantity, but again, it probably just takes getting used to. Great make!
Looks AMAZING ON YOU! Loved this video = I find I have to take breaks too or I get too frustrated. Thanks for always being honest in your sewing adventures
I love absolutely everything about this make! The fabric is beautiful! Thank you so much for taking your time and expertise to film/video this process for us! Very valuable tip about walking away for a bit if you get tired or put out in the middle of the project! The pattern suits you and you looked fabulous in it!
This is great! The shoulder change and the size down, and the front lengthening, and the sleeve spreading mad it fit you so nicely! The good fit makes it look like a million bucks!
Hello! Such a beautiful blouse, it looks great on you. I can see why it would be your favorite so far. Reminds me of pieces l made myself in the late 60’s and 70’s! I loved them. It’s true: In Fashion- What goes around comes around!
Claire, the thing I like best about you is that you know how to struggle like the rest of us. You don't sugarcoat anything. Sewing is hard work for me anyway and I lose that sewjo quite often. Thanks for sharing your work. The result was lovely and you never gave up.
I absolutely love that fabric and always knew it would be awesome in whatever you chose to make with it. It's beautiful, I learned so much from you when you were sewing a lot and this video really reminds me of all that you taught me. Thank you Claire. I'm glad to see that you're doing some sewing on this channel. BTW that pattern really suits you.
Supplies used are never a waste even if it doesn’t work out. The only real waste is when something sits unused forever. Nice job and well done on breaking that mental block!!!
I hope you're safe over there? I hope this year brings happiness, prosperity, love , and peace all over the world 🌏. Would I have redone the loops? Nope. Because I don’t choose fussy patterns to begin with! I like simple stuff and wear accessories to glam it up a bit! I admire your wanting to be perfect but I’m not there😂 Super cute top and wonderful fit!
All the hard work payed off at the end! Your shirt looks lovely!👍 I didn't see how you gather your fabric, but I do it by zig zagging over a piece of dental floss or embroidery floss. The gathers become pretty even. and the thread does not snap during the gathering. Maybe you know this trick or maybe it might help you the next time
From one Claire to another - fabulous. This top is gorgeous, thanks for your time, effort and expertise and for sharing this with us. Really honest, encouraging and inspiring tutorial.
To turn a loop: Knot a piece of yarn and sew it into the loop as you sew one short end and the length. Leave the other end open and pull the yarn to pull the loop right side out.🙂
Oh Claire…. It’s beautiful…. And you look gorgeous wearing it. I love how happy you look also. It’s such a pretty fabric and you worked hard to get it perfect…. Good job.❤

The blouse is beautiful and fits you perfectly. All of that extra work over the fit paid off. It looks so lovely on you. And you look so happy. That, after all, is what it is all about. Linen is hard to work with, but you did an excellent job!
Your blouse came out so nice!!! It looks wonderful on you!!!! Your hair is so pretty and it matches your new blouse!!! Fred was the star of the show!!! He is sooo cute!!!
This turned out amazing and you're positively radiant in the reveal (well actually you look fabulous through the whole video - even the bit where you don't think you do!) 🤗😙
It looks wonderful on you, Claire. You just glow when you model it. I have found if I need to gather a lot of fabric is works well if I zig-zag over a piece of light cord or yarn and then pull the gathers. You might give it a try and see if that works for you. Thanks for advocating slower sewing, too.
I love the look of gathers I just don’t like doing them lol. Pleats are a little too formal looking for me but I have plans to rotate the shoulder gathers into a bust dart soon!
I sew for friends who fit in the category of needing FBAs, and I've never done them. I just make sure I allow for the extra length and width before cutting the fabric. I love your fabrics! That's a lovely pattern too.
Loved this video! Thank you so much for including your frustrations and “re do” steps. I am new to sewing and it helps so much to see an experienced sewist going through these things as it helps normalize it all. The top is beautiful and more importantly it looks like it makes you happy which is the most important thing.

I have lots of fabric that I am scared to cut because I am worried that I may stuff it up - your top looks lovely but that blue colour on your first top suits you so much - it brings out your colouring and lights up your face. Great video and love your sewing companion (I have one of those as well and she loves to sit on my pattern paper which is worse).
I really love your fabric and think you made the right choice of pattern for it. It’s lovely on you! The buttons are perfect for a busy fabric like this one. You did a great job and should be proud of yourself!
😍 Hi, you did it beautifully!!! 💖 I absolutely love your "real talk" when it comes to sewing und what can go wrong 👍👍👍 Everybody makes mistakes in every way 🤷 that's live! Thank you for your video!! 💝
you chose a beautiful fabric..Paisley is my favorite!! you did an awesome job slow and easy, careful preparation, turns into something you'll wear over and over again.
I hope you're safe over there? I hope this year brings happiness, prosperity, love , and peace all over the world . When I do gathering especially lots like a waist area I use shirring elastic. I do a few stitches to anchor at the start and finish then stretch the piece to be fitted along the edge then as you did sew a basting stitch or hand stitch one. The gathering is even and according to the stitch length you can have lots of gathers or on a lower stitch less gathers although you need the gathered piece to actually stretch to work. That top is so pretty, you look absolutely stunning in it. 💐
A little trick I use for turning narrow tubes… cut a length of string slightly longer than your intended tube, stitch to one side ie the top. Fold your fabric over the string making sure it’s in the fold, be sure not to catch in the seam, once the seam is sewn give the string a little tug at the bottom and turn your tube. Works like a charm. Great video, stunning blouse ❤
Claire, I’m glad you took the plunge and used your treasured fabric. The result is beautiful!👍👍🥰 Thank you for sharing so many steps of the process as well. Interesting video!
What a delight to find someone who is so much like me in sewing. I really enjoy watching you work and your honest discussion of the thought process you are going through is just great !!! What fun to watch!!! You did a great job. 🎉
Kudos! Downsizing and taking the time to make the neck and shoulders fit gave you such a nice fit. I can see why you love it, I think the fabric is beautiful.

The top turned out awesome and looks fantastic on you. You did a great job. I know what you mean about having to take few days off when sewing has just about plucked your last nerve. I just need to put sleeves on my dress and hem it. It’s my first dress I’ve made since I got back into sewing. I messed neck up just a bit but I figure a scarf or something to camouflage it. It’s so much better to wear that favorite fabric then to just look at it up in a shelf. Enjoy your new top!
I ❤ this video. Your fabric is gorgeous! Here is a tip to help with making your gathers feel more evenly distributed: mark the center of each piece. Pull your gathers and pin the centers together before you start pushing your gathers around to get everything distributed evenly. Hope that helps 😊
I really love it! You did a great job. Your fitting adjustments at the shoulders made an amazing difference. The fabric is lovely and is lovely on you. ❤ Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
So happy to have found you, for too many reasons to list! That fabric is beautiful, the colors are perfect for you, so I have no reason at all to doubt it would be your fav of all time. Now I’m going to have to watch every video you’ve ever put up….get you in my head…so I can get going. A few things so far, after watching only 2 videos have really resonated with me. First is I’ve begun fabric collecting (breaking the bank) because I love them…but then refuse to actually make anything because they might not fit right. Fitting is a nightmare!! There are so many different things that could be responsible for the same issue. I’ve totally run out of cheap fabric and old sheets. 😅. Guess I’m just going to listen to your videos some more and quit being a chicken. Thanks!
Proud of you for using your prized fabric and pushing through the more difficult steps!! 🥳 You were also very resourceful in your problem solving methods (using the safety pin to turn the button loops, hand tacking the button loops to the fabric before machine sewing, taking in the shoulder seam to suit your style preferences, and more). 👏 The top turned out so well, and it looks amazing on your gorgeous self!! 😍 Thank you for showing your process and including your struggles!! ❤ I found your channel just the other day, and I’m very glad I did; you have been teaching me a lot and motivating me to spend more time sewing + creating!! 🤗 P.S. I think Fred was trying to help out by laying on your fabric…He figured he could press it with his body if he laid on it long enough! 😛😂❤🐱
I enjoyed this video a lot. I’m glad you showed us the frustrating times as well as the easier times as you worked on this project. I identified with all of it. Your top is beautiful, and I think the dark blue buttons look great. They add the vertical line that draws the eye upward to your smile. It must be a good feeling to have finally used your all time favorite fabric to make your all time favorite top!

I love this a lot. Not only is the fabric lovely all on its own, but it brightens your face and hair, and makes you look healthy and happy. Great job!
I agree. All the colors in the fabric could be the coordinating colors for all your makes. They all agree with your skin tone and hair.
I am glad you went back to sewing. This outfit makes you look amazing.
Thanks to your videos I have stopped to be afraid to adjust my makes.
Take care!
That’s great to hear! This is why I try to be helpful in videos to help you!

Thank you and yes my opinion is most important lol but I’m also interested in what everyone else thinks. Great point on the dark buttons!
I like the dark buttons too for the same reason 💖
I can't decide what's more beautiful - the garment or the look of your happy face in the end... 👍🙌
Love. Love. Love this blouse! It looks just right on you. I'm taking a lesson from your patience and hope to be more patient as well.
You’re glowing! Your fit adjustments look spot on- good call on the sleeve. Another great video- thank you!
That is absolutely gorgeous on you. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge etc you’re so right about ‘slow sewing’, 😊
Well done!

One of the things about losing weight is that taking in is easy, so that excuse not a strong one for me. I fall victim to falling in love to a fabric's potential. Then nothing is good enough to make it from. Think that is common especially if you buy the fabric on impulse rather than with a plan.

Your beautiful face says it all! You are glowing! Beautiful fabric but an even more beautiful top that you are proud of!!❤❤
Claire you have done a great job on this one too. It looks like an expensive shop bought garment. Your hair looks lovely too. xxx
Absolutely fantastic. The color and the style are beautiful on you
Nicely done !! I love the fabric on you! 👍🏻
This is perfect! It suits you, and the colors flatter your skintone. An all round success!
PS thanks for sharing the burrito method🙏

Great pattern. You wear it well. Thanks for the practical adjustments to fit you! Happy sewing.

looks wonderful! Love the fabric!

Beautiful top on a beautiful person.❤ Loving the pattern. I've got a soft spot for paisley, especially if there's purple in it.
Lovely fabric and style of top. Great to see you sewing again.
Thanks!

Thank you. I do know that hack but I increase tension on the sewing machine and it gathers for me.
It is a beautiful top and suits you. I'm so glad that you're happy with it.
From one Claire to another - fabulous. This top is gorgeous, thanks for your time, effort and expertise and for sharing this with us. Really honest, encouraging and inspiring tutorial.
Looks beautiful on you! So happy to see that sewing is bringing you Joy again! 🎉🥰💐
Claire its beautiful! It looks wonderful on you. Congrats and great video. I am only capable of slow sewing. Thank you!
Love the fabric! Buttons look perfect. Paisley rarely goes out of style. I want to start making my own clothes. But I’m afraid to start-
To turn a loop: Knot a piece of yarn and sew it into the loop as you sew one short end and the length. Leave the other end open and pull the yarn to pull the loop right side out.🙂
Oh Claire…. It’s beautiful…. And you look gorgeous wearing it. I love how happy you look also. It’s such a pretty fabric and you worked hard to get it perfect…. Good job.❤

Beautiful, Claire!!! 😍 A great reward for your persistence and for finally cutting into that precious fabric!
It looks wonderful on you, Claire. You just glow when you model it. If you don't like the gathers, you could make little pleats and mark each shoulder to make them match.
I love the look of gathers I just don’t like doing them lol. Pleats are a little too formal looking for me but I have plans to rotate the shoulder gathers into a bust dart soon!
@@Penguinandpear I will look forward to watching that tutorial!
I love it Claire! All the tweaks you made were definitely worth the effort and you can tell that you absolutely love it! Well done ❤❤

Wow!! That looks amazing! 🤩

Beautiful fit! It’s lovely!
Absolutely Beautiful!!! Buttons work wonderfully too. 💗🪡

Such a pretty top, the colour and style suits you, enjoy it, thank you for your videos , am enjoying them, 🧵👍
So happy to have found you, for too many reasons to list! Thanks!
Beautiful top, the colours are amazing on you. Thanks for sharing all your ups and downs with this sew. It's really reasuring for a sewist like me 😊
Wow ❤
You look so happy in your new top. Looks good on you. .The fit is spot on.❤❤❤❤❤
Beautiful fabric, lovely, fit, and overall wonderful inspiration!
Love Love your top❤
P.S. I think Fred was trying to help out by laying on your fabric…He figured he could press it with his body if he laid on it long enough! 😛😂❤🐱
Your garment is just beautiful!
Good job. I made that blasted thing 3 times and never got the shoulders right, so you did great.
