I really appreciate this video!! Concise, yet in-depth advice from someone you can tell is a true professional. The money doesn’t always equal better is so true. We will never know how much time mowgli has put into this passion, but it shows in a masterfully subtle way!
Thanks for the kind comments, much appreciated!
thanks bro!
thank you for saying those things, I really needed to hear that!
I'm glad it helped. I Believe that it's best to use whatever you have at hand before throwing money at things and that recycling, reusing and repurposing is the way forward most of the time. There's a lot of gatekeeping, elitist opinions out there that I strongly disagree with!
This video (and your channel) is exactly what I've been searching for as I get started on the path to VJ-ing. Thank you for posting 😎🤙🏼
Thanks for the encouragement! I will be devoting more time and effort to it over the new year so stay tuned and feel free to suggest subjects that you might want to see covered.
I agree with everything you said here. Well done covering many different aspects of the subject area, from the financial and logistics issues through to technical skills, creativity, experience of immersion and more.
I purchased my first projector about 20 years ago, before I got into VJing. In fact it was having a projector and using it at a friend's house (late night afterparty) that landed me my first gig. I had to source and learn to use some VJ software to do it. The software was Neon v2, for anyone interested, which I used from 2006 to 2012, when I then started using Resolume.
Side note: I was grateful to meet you and other members of VJlondon when I was living there circa 2008-9, and thank you and others for involving me in various events you put on.
Warm greetings from Sydney.

thank you
You're welcome
As helpful as this is a list of common models at different price points would make a great follow-up video. Is there a discord for VJs anywhere?
There is a VJ Union one
