Whether it’s cheating on taxes or ripping people off, etc. Take tax cheating, the penalties and fines and all that are enough to ruin your life as it is, and there’s no reason for someone to sit in a concrete room over it for any amount of time wasting their life. You should ONLY have to sit in jail if you are unsafe to be around others.

    No they do convict people in this pretty frequently. At the possesion while using. They are using it on Nick Reiketa i believe. Mostly they use it to stack on charges or a something to plea down too.

      The only real political activity/research I’ve done the past 4 years has revolved around digging in FBI/CIA/Etc declassified documents. The present sucks so might as well learn a lot more about the past and how these systems operate.

    I'm even looking forward to more high frame rate content (Hobbit didn't look good, but maybe it could work great for sports/motorsports documentary).

    I wish there was a libertarian who put forward a solution to any of the foreign and domestic complaints, legitimate as they are, that they voice. It’s easy to be a libertarian… Criticize one or both of the parties without any accountability. Period.

    • @chevelle1
      @chevelle1 21 день назад +1

      The solutions come from the people, voluntarily. Being a libertarian (I call myself a Constitutionalist) is incredibly difficult as you have to argue that just because something is bad (that is obvious), doesn’t mean the government has the right to put you in a cage for it. It’s when you violate someone else’s rights where the government should step in. Murder, theft, kidnapping, etc.
      While most agree drugs are bad, a user isn’t violating someone else’s rights and therefore the government shouldn’t have the authority to put you in a cage or steal your money at gunpoint for it. It’s the knee jerk reaction to something that is a problem or immoral, many in our society have and say “that should be illegal”.
      Freedom is scary, deal with it.

    • @c.espinoza5169
      @c.espinoza5169 18 дней назад

      Saying the solutions come from the people, in my mind, is synonymous with “if everyone is responsible than no one is responsible.” Government institutes a set of standards with which we ought to operate. It is intrinsic to human nature to want clear and defined operating parameters, observe a toddler pushing the boundaries while looking you in the eyes for a reaction. Hence government, police, and the laws they enforce. So it’s OK to say then, as long as someone else’s immoral and destructive decisions don’t directly affect me, then continue on? I have not read that in the constitution. I have a feeling you would look at that quite differently if a drunk driver, God forbid, killed a loved one. So in this instance, as a “constitutionalist,” you would neither outlaw the drinking nor the drunk driving? Would drunk driving fall under the “liberty“ in your inalienable rights? Most of the time it doesn’t affect anyone but the alcoholic, right?
      Drug addiction, to your point, is a metastatic cancer that erodes the fabric of families, communities, and societies at large. I do not believe the constitution’s framers considered anything that doesn’t immediately affect someone else to be one of your inalienable rights.

    I don't think of it as getting arrested for using drugs. I think if he wasn't and started, that's legal (correct me if I'm wrong).
    I think it's more on levels of perjury. Say what you want about whether that should be a crime; it's not the same level of merely "wanting to exercise your constitutional right"
    However, 25 years is excessive. Maybe 2 years because he had more than one charge
