I might have found out the story about what happened here!! I have had two local people, at separate times, apart from each other, give me the same name and similar story. I was told back in the 1960's there was an old man that trapped out of the cabin near where I found these furs. One, said they thought he had lived in the cabin, the other said he thought he just stayed back there to trap. Anyway, they both said his name was Neal Allen. One guy said that he thought the trapper had died in the cabin. I'll do some more asking around, but that would explain why he never came back for these furs. Why he hid them is still a mystery.
@@danielleleclerc4957 I haven't found anything out for sure, but two people told me there was a trapper in the 1960's living back there named Neal Allen. One guy said he thought he died in the old cabin, which would explain why the furs were left behind.
That"s not what trappers do with with furs MAN!!! YOU KNOW there ain't no trapper doing that shit!!! Bigfoot is your #1 suspect here dude! And he don't believe you walked off with his fur save'n'can!!!
You found Sasquatches secret fur stash. He was hiding it so he could make a winter coat. However, Sasquatches are known for their poor memory so he/she probably forgot where it was. Like your videos! Thanks for sharing your adventures.
Looks like the trapper had some Bad Luck and could not make it back to collect the pelts. Have a Bud that is a plumber and 35 years ago he was working a new home near Austin and at that time WAY out of the City. He went to the woods to relieve himself and found an old Winchester in 32-20 in the fork of a cedar tree. The tree had grown around it and the wood stock had rotted from years in the weather. He is a fairly good machinist and gunsmith also so he cut down the fork and over the coarse of a year, brought the gun back to working order.
Wow! That would be great! They found one in Nevada a few years ago too. I found a revolver years ago. It was a new made S&W 38 special. It was froze up when I found it, but after oiling it and playing with it, I got it working again. I had a saddle shop years ago. I make a lot of gun holsters. I was surprised at how many people told me they have lost guns in the woods.
Friend of mine in Oklahoma found a 1886 model Winchester 38/40 , I think in an old celler while working on an oil rig , it was in very good shape , out in the middle of no where .
@@airdrop1670 - That was probably a Marlin. Looked like a Winchester but had an octagonal barrel and was heavy as hell! I used to hunt deer with one made circa 1883...
I bet if you were to look around a bit more you might find an old cabin. My guess is the guy trapped around there and died or got sick and never made it back.
Maybe the trapper hid them there thinking he was being stalked by wildlife officers, instead it could of been bf..idk. Look forward to hearing more about this.
@@cherylcooper1885 It's a good mystery for sure. Really, there is a lot of ways this could have went. I wish I could find a death record from him. Finding out what time of the year it was might help piece it together. Out of season hidden from the game warden? Or in season and hidden from someone he didn't trust?
If only the milk can could talk. It would be fascinating to hear the story. At least one person said the trees laid semi vertically against another tree could be firewood storage. That was also my thought. Maybe the logs were harvested and placed in a way to keep them off the ground to slow down wood decay. Whoever harvested the wood could not use or transport them at the time but prepped them for easy retrieval at a later date. I do that very thing myself at remote campsites that I think I may return to in the future. It is a good way to store firewood, tent poles or poles needed for other camp projects.
It makes more sense than Sasquatch doing it. Even if they turn out to be real, why would they waste time and effort doing that? If they are shelters, they are poor ones! I would sure like to find out that Sasquatch is real, but I've never seen anything that makes me think so. I did hear something once though that I still wonder about. I can't explain that noise. How about you? Any Sasquatch/could be stories? I have an old book by Col. Townsen Whelen that says at the time he wrote it, you could still find tipi poles stacked against trees, but they were disappearing from people using them for firewood. Outfitters I've worked for do the same thing with the poles for their wall tents.
I would sure like to know what happened there! It kind of worries me that maybe he got snowed in and died. That area doesn't get much use from snowmobiles in the winter....he could still be there.
@Muskrat Outdoors No I have never seen nor heard anything that would be considered out of the ordinary or unexplainable. Connie and I have read books about Alaskan backcountry folks who have seen "bushman" here in Alaska but sensationalism like that also sells books so there is an incentive for the truth to be . . . well . . . stretched a bit. Perhaps the truth was or was not stretched in the stories but my skepticism keeps telling me that there is strong incentive to embellish. When potential profits are at stake, people in general overall tend to make compromises, in my experience. In other words, people may be completely honest and forthright as long as it does not cost them anything.
@@Far-North-Bushcraft-Survival I agree. "Ghost Stories and Campfire Tails" sell books and videos. Still, I'm open minded. I would really like them to be real, but I have not seen any sign of it. Whatever we heard though, was super loud. It wasn't like anything else I've heard either. Sort of a bark/ growl, but really not like either. Hard to explain. Almost more of a roar. There was also a dead smell, but we found nothing dead. We never saw what it was. At the time I thought "bear" but it didn't sound like any bear I've ever heard and I think it was too loud. Rifle shot loud. Anyway, I have no idea what it could have been. It's fun to think "Bigfoot" but I'm not ready to say it was. I truly don't know.
There is a police report for Latah County in 2017 and this is close to you (made by a woman resident of Tensed) sighted a sasquatch chasing a deer on the road North of Potlatch and the deer ran into her car. The officer refused to place the BF sighting in the accident report but there is a newspaper article on it - Google "Bigfoot" "Tensed" "Woman", "2017" I believe it was reported by milepost marker 162 or 167 on 95 (maybe milepost 176, well...its in the article)
This video just popped up in my recommended list. Fascinating! I’m thinking he put them in the can and up in the tree to keep mice or other animals from ruining them. Obviously something happened before he could sell them. Would love to know the rest of the story.
Thank you. I have been asking a lot of folks that have lived here their whole lives and I have found out a lot more about this. It's a neat story and possible murder! Where this is, is high elevation and I won't be able to get there until the snow melts around June. I'll have a follow up video about this then. I have been trying to find a picture of the guy, but so far, no luck. Stick around for more!!
Gary, you surprise me more every day. Yesterday you built Muskrat's Navy, today you're investigating that mysterious story. Yes, it's Idaho style. Steady as you go! Really great video's plot. Thank you very much!
Makes me remember the story about Chris Colby, who was attacked and eaten by wolves while trapping. Searchers later found his remains.. along with his pistol (broken mainspring). I believe this happened in Alaska or northern Canada early 1900s.
I think he was planning on coming back and just needed a way to keep them safe untill then. But something must have happened to him and he got sidetracked
Two separate people said there was a trapper living back there in the 1960's. One guy told me they thought he had died in the cabin near there. That would explain it!
The trapper may have died while camping at the site. He could've been using the milk can as a bear cannister to keep the furs safe. There was blood scent within the camp despite securing the furs. Who knows, the guy could've been attacked in the night by a bear. Anyway, I wonder if his body was ever found. If so was it at his cabin?
This has turned out to be a neat story! I've found out a lot more since this video and will have an update soon. He was found shot to death about 50 years ago in a nearby cabin. Most folks I've talked with think it was a murder, and I'm kind of leaning that way too. He had a cabin he was living in, so why hide those furs unless there was someone he didn't trust nearby? This guy was actually attacked by a mountain lion years before also! Stick around for more!
I would agree with the popular idea that it was an old trapper that didn’t make back to his milk can. I wonder if the tree with all the logs was set up as a marker so he would know where to find his stash? Maybe the tree and milk can of furs are both markers to something bigger, a buried treasure so to speak. Could be a small stash of saved coins money or even a bag of gold nuggets or just personal belongings. Very very interesting find!
Talking with a neighbor that knew the trapper when he was a kid, this guy trapped in the Winter, and prospected for gold in the Summer. Supposedly there was a bag, or maybe jar of gold buried under a tree also. If that story is true, I wonder if it is the same tree? If there is gold, why would you risk telling anyone though? I doubt it's there, but who knows? There is a forest fire burning back there right now, and the roads are closed. I hope to go back this Fall and look some more. This is a neat story, and I have been planning a follow up for some time. I've learned a little more through old newspaper records and talking with locals that knew him. It's a suicide or possible murder mystery!
@@MuskratOutdoors That is extremely intriguing and it wouldn’t surprise me for a second if there were some truth to it. Thank you very much for sharing. I will subscribe and follow your channel. Best of luck my friend, I hope to see more of your content!
As many commenting said, most-likely someone left them, at some point, that couldn't get back to retrieve them. Had a family member in my youth that had been burying cash in mason jars near a remote gate into an 'almost-never' entered field. On their deathbed, they told the story of 'close to $10,000 in greenbacks in a jar near the old gate'...needless to say, three days after the death (in the hospital), the rest of the buzzards of our family were out in the back areas of the farm, digging up almost every fence and gate they could locate...I was in the Marines and overseas at the time, I only heard how it played out...and knew that this individual told me two years earlier, they had removed the jars and 'no one would ever find them' because they were afraid something like this event would actually happen...I laughed so hard when I heard it went down EXACTLY like he had anticipated...he knew his 'family vultures well'...
That is great!! I hate that...when someone dies, the buzzards circle. Serves them right! This story, I think I might have solved. Two separate people told me there was a trapper named Neal Allen back in the 1960's living back there. One guy told me that he thought he had died in the cabin not far from here.
Some people in my home town of Oklahoma moved to California , 7 years later they came back for visit an asked the owner if they could get something they had left , went to the cloths line an measured off then dug up a jar of money . :)
It turns out this guy was a trapper in the Winter, a gold prospector in the Summer. Talking to folks that knew him, he may have been murdered for his gold?
@@MuskratOutdoors Wow, seeing he cached his fur, he felt the threat. It may pay to keep an eye out for other caches he may have left un-recovered. Stuff like this could keep a guy entertained for a lifetime. Good stuff.
@@GrizzlyGroundswell I just found this comment. Sorry! I agree! I need to get back there and poke around some more. Right now my truck is broke down, but soon as possible I'll have an update on this!
My Grandad new this Trapper Neil Allen, heard many stories about him. We were told to stay away from him because he was crazy. My granddad had a mining claim close to his cabin. I was very young but lived in Salmon, Idaho.
That's the guy. Almost everyone I've talked to has said they either didn't like him, or they were afraid of him. Officially, they say it was a suicide, but plenty think he was murdered. If you were going to shoot yourself, why hide those furs? I hope that cabin doesn't burn in this fire.
Here’s a link for three newspaper articles of loggers finding a Sasquatch ….. ruclips.net/video/UYRXYkZHt58/видео.html I would love to hear y’all tell your stories of how you came into your trapper lifestyle! I’m new to the channel and love it already. Yet another thing I’d love to have shared with my dad before he died. Don’t take one another for granted! ❤️
No, it's a steel milk can with rivets. I looked into it and it seems to have been made in the 1950's-1960's more or less. I don't recall if it's marked or not though....I'd have to go look.
Wow that’s so interesting I wish I was there looking at that kind of stuff in person, it’s very intriguing to wonder what happened and why something like this was put there, very weird though
Most trappers take their catch home to skin and stretch them. Since this one didn't, I can only guess he was camped back there. To leave them doesn't make sense though....unless he was snowed in and walked out? Even then, dried furs are light. None of this makes any sense to me. They aren't very well handled. All of these furs should have been finished fur side out. They have been there a long time, more than a few years.
Wow! A milk can! Have not seen one in years! Never had any hides in any of our Milk Cans! Grandmothers’ farm! Oh, My Goodness! I can hear the Milking machine and smell the fresh milk, and I can feel the muscles in my younger arms turning the lift to place the milk cans into the Cooler! Milk is very warm when really Fresh! A wonderful find!
Yeah, you don't see many around anymore. Finding this one was a surprise, but an even bigger surprise inside! I milked cows for a little while....didn't like it much! Ha!
Most likely someone kicked the bucket. The sole person who knew about the cached fur never returned and its been there ever since. Treasures of all kinds are occasionally found because of this. Old milk cans full of gold coins were found on private property in Northern California just a few years ago. Been there since the Gold rush valued over 13 million $. You never know.
I'm WAY overdue on a follow up video about this! I've found out more about this story. It's a possible murder or a suicide! Depends on who you talk to..... I won't be able to get there until around June, too much snow, but I'll try to tell "the rest of the story" then.
There's a cabin close by. I've had some follow up videos to this. It turns out those furs have been there since about 1970. They belonged to a trapper named Neal (Neil) Allen. He was found inside the cabin shot to death. They ruled it as a suicide, but some say he was murdered. It's a neat story!
That milk can hanging in the tree made me think of how there really is no where on earth that people haven't been. Most people would think the woods he is in is untouched land but in reality a man many years ago used to trap animals here. It's always just so surprising to me that no matter how deep in the woods you get you can someone else has already been there.
Very true. Not many places someone at sometime has not been. Even worse is to be hiked into a really remote place and feel like you are the first ever to be there.......then look down and see a candy wrapper or beer can.....
I think the trapper would put pelts in the milk can, and someone else would swing by every so often take the furs out, and pay him for the pelts he had placed in the milk can. Pelts would be safe for long periods of time and the fur buyer could just stop by when he could. Didn’t have to actual meet at a certain time. Plus it keep the trapper in the mountains and away from people (how he liked it to be).
That would be a great arrangement. Where this is though, it seems unlikely though. It's only 100 yards or so from the cabin he stayed it. I think he was hiding them out of fear of theft. Maybe he couldn't lock up the cabin?
I'm planning to this Summer! I found out who owned the furs and a little more about it. The guy died in a nearby cabin in the late 1960's, early 1970's. It's a neat story! I'll do a follow up video about this soon.
Sasquatch strikes again! He'll go 'FUR-CAN' crazy when he realises his stash has been stolen! Brilliant video, really interesting thank you. Take care my friend 👍😷👍
Gary you found it oh thank you I’ve been looking for that jug for years. Rich ladies out here would pay big bucks for a good milk jug. My old neighbor said that’s not a BF structure, he said it’s vertical storage for firewood. So it doesn’t rot. Man he’s funny.
He's probably right! I don't buy into that Bigfoot stick structure stuff. You find strange things in the woods like that all the time. If there was a Bigfoot running around doing it, there would be tracks. Still, it's fun to think about!
Well I never say never. Wouldn’t mind looking for one. All those mountains I think you have a better chance than I. But the DNR told everyone that mountain lions don’t live in northern Michigan until a few years ago when a guy got one on his trail camera. Busted
@@Shadeskast You never can tell. A lot of people that seem creditable say they have seen them. Have you seen the You tube channel "How to hunt"? He is one I believe. I don't think they would mess around piling up sticks though. We heard something in the woods hunting a few years ago. It was a super loud roar type/ bark/ growl noise. I still can't figure out what it could have been. There was also a strong dead smell, but we didn't find anything dead. Sounds like bigfoot, but I can't say that since we didn't see what made the noise. Who knows?
Les Stroud has had several encounters audibly with a creature/creatures that have made Gorilla like sounds in Northern Canada, He plans on doing exhaustive research to either confirm or disspell the Sassquatch issue. He is taking credible scientific approach and will use all technology at he disposal. There are plans to have a zoologist and geneticist on the investigative team. As for this mystery, I would venture to guess that perhaps some time ago a trapper cached those furs with plans to retrieve them in short order, but, was never able to return.
Fred Thorne - They are real. Linda was a big foot that I brought home, shaved down and put into a dress. All in all, she’s made a pretty fine wife. 🤣🤣🤣
@@logicaredux5205 No she-it. I brought me home a redhead, made it legal, and fer over three decades got me a female that would make Sassquatch curl up in a corner in the fetal position an' start suckin' its thumb. Angrier than a bag o' pissed-off pole cats! 😵😝😄
It is very strange. None of the furs are handled very well. All of these furs are sold fur side out. Most trappers take their catch home to process them, so it makes me think he was living or camped back there. Milk cans are uncommon too. If this was fairly new, they would probably have been in a plastic bucket with a lid or something. The pelts were ruined by mold and age. I would really like to know just what happened! This is the spot we got Jeff's side x side 4 wheeler stuck with his snow tracks on it. If this guy got snowed in, he might have died back there. The Sasquatch thing.....I want to believe in it, but I've never seen anything to convince me. I think the "Tree structures" are just natural blow downs, but some do seem a bit strange. A few years ago, Cindy and I were deer hunting and heard the loudest bark/growl noise I've ever heard. It was as loud as a rifle shot! It wasn't a bark, or a growl, but kind of both at the same time. We never saw what made the noise, but there was a "dead smell" also. We thought it might have been a bear, but it was super loud. We looked for the dead thing, but never found anything at all...….Sasquatch? Maybe, maybe not. It sounds like what people hare reported, but I'm not ready to jump to that. It was very strange though, and I still can't figure out what it could have been
He must have swerved to miss Sasquatch. He ran into a tree and Sasquatch stole his milk jug with furs! Either that or maybe he went for a walk to sell his furs. He ran into trouble, so he left them there for later. That's the only thing I could think of. That is really strange though!
It is strange! Most trappers take their catch home to skin them, so he must have been camped, or living up there. This is the spot we got Jeff's tracked 4 wheeler stuck last winter. The snow was crotch deep. If he got snowed in, he might not have made it out..... The furs aren't handled well at all, maybe he was new to this and didn't know what he was getting into. I dunno…..
@@MuskratOutdoors I wonder how long those furs may have been in there...if it was fairly recent or had been there years and years. If the milk jug was air tight, I don't know how long it could last in there. It's a shame the camera didn't get any pics of the bear that was there. @@ChipsOutdoorChannel We will probably go sit on it pretty soon. Time is running out at the end of June. I don't know why there wasn't pictures. I need a second one at the barrel.
@@MuskratOutdoors Well, hopefully whoever left them made it out themselves! That is a bummer about the camera not taking the pictures. At least you know a bear was there. Sometimes that's all you need to know to give the spot some sit time. I hope you have some luck hunting it!
Good morning brother. I was reading on my mobile news app here in Montana this morning and a guy did an article on this video. Had to scroll thru the archives and watch it myself. Very weird indeed.
My guess is that the old trapper would store them until he had enough to haul them all out at once in a single trip. The milk can would protect them from moisture and predators. Tied to a tree so even a bear wouldn't make off with it. But he died, so there they sat.
Wow This oldie came across my feed! 4yrs ago!! That old milk can is pretty cool! I read below where you said the old guy was shot for his gold! That's pretty sad!! Be careful up there! ❣❤❤❣
Neat! I like that campground! I think I have figured this out. I've been meaning to make a follow up video about it, and started to several times, but I've been looking for more info. It was a trapper named Neal Allan that died from a gunshot wound around 1970......some say suicide, others say he was murdered. It's a neat story!
I didn't notice any. I'll have to take a closer look. Kind of seems like there would be? It's an old one made of regular steel. The newer ones are stainless steel.
@@MuskratOutdoors 🇬🇧 Ok my friend , but old regular steel shite was usually pressed with some kind of mark coz that milk urn looks to me like a production outcome , but I could be wrong
There was a 6.5 quake near Challis (About 40 miles South of us). There has been several after shocks since. I haven't heard of any injuries or real damage. We felt it pretty well. Things on shelves inside the house fell off the wall too. Pretty wild!
wow sure makes the imagination run wild thinking of the story of that ole milkcan and furs! as far as the leaned small timber, i'd say someone up there had the foresight to get possible future firewood up off the ground...who knows? thanks for this, even though it's awhile back...ahh i can smell those woods from here!! :D

OK! That is the story I'm getting! Rumor is that either his partner killed him, of a rival miner/trapper he was known to be feuding with. I have been trying to find a picture, but no luck so far.

I think they must have been stacked like that for firewood, but it would be tough to do. As near as I have been able to find out, it was about 50 years ago. This was a suicide or murder, I'll have more soon.

@@MuskratOutdoors it would be too much to write down here but it didn't happen over night. I've literally listened to over one thousand encounter interviews that sounded convincing to me. I feel like I can tell when somebody is making up BS lol. Or maybe I'm just gullible. I think i might have seen one twice and heard them several times. I didn't put these things with sasquatch until over 25 years later. With that being said.... I need to see one clearly in decent lighting to be 100% belief. @@jdc8352 I believe they are people from Weippe and Kooskia. I am an Idaho native from Kamiah and many of the folks in Weippe and Kooskia fit the description-especially the reported smell. Add to that the reports of Bigfoot having old cars on blocks in front of their houses and...BINGO!!!
It's very strange. As a trapper, I know what it takes to catch, skin, and flesh those furs. To hide them and then not come back just doesn't make sense. Since this video, I have found out a lot more about this and I'll have a video about it soon. The guy was shot to death 50 years ago!
I have been asking around to people that have lived here for many years....the trapper's name was Neal Allen. He was shot to death in a nearby cabin about 50 years ago. Suicide? Murder? Depends on who you ask, but the majority agrees he was murdered. I kind of think so too....why would you hide your furs if you were going to kill yourself? There was at least one other trapper/prospector back there at the time that he did not get along with. I have heard there was possibly a third man that disappeared about the time of his death also? I'll have more on this soon. I have been trying to get a picture of the guy, but so far nobody seems to have one.
Did you dig under the can? Often times what is hanging in tree is just a marker for the goodies below. Have fun fact he didn't cash them in means he has a stash can somewhere. Just my thoughts.
My thoughts as well.....he was a trapper in the winter and a prospector in the summer....I was told he had a bag of gold burried under a tree.....HHHMMMMmmmmmm.......
As for the timber leaning on the live tree and the cut wood on the side tells me a small crew fell some trees then took what they could and leaned the rest to keep it from rotting on the ground to come back later and collect....just a thought. :)
Weird, things that make you go hmmm. I found an old milk can once. It's little more rusted though. It has a stamp on it that says Paris expo and I'm not sure what that is all about.
Makes you wonder, but your proubly right best not too know, but a very good find that old milk can,we used to drink water out of one of those at my grand parents house before they had running water, using a cup shaped ladle, sure do miss my grandpa and the good ol days!!!
I think you're right about a trapper and not a Sasquatch. You're so alone out there that if anything happened you'd probably succumb to it. I don't think Sasquatch is a monster who would attack an old man living in the woods. It wasn't Big Foot who cut that wood. Big foot would have pushed the tree over like a bear. It's interesting , but the man probably just wanted the furs off the floor of the woodland. Poor ole buddy he knew what he was doing.
The Sasquatch part was mostly just joking around, but it is kind of a strange spot. I have found out a lot more about this story and it's a good one. More to come about it this Summer after the sow melts up there.
It is indeed a peculiar scenario. Was the cap tight on the Milk can when found? My guess is someone stashed those furs to avoid the furs being seen or detected perhaps by a patrolling game warden. Itself a mystery is the milk can which appears to be in relative good shape suggesting it was not exposed to weather for very long. As for the tree structure, it looks more like a hastily built hunter’s blind. Note: Of course there are no Bigfoot creatures out there. Worry more about bad people running about.
The cap was really tight. Amazingly, I have since learned that can had been there 50 years. The trapper was shot to death inside a nearby cabin. It was ruled suicide, but talking with folks that knew him, they say he was murdered. There was another trapper back there at the time he didn't get along with. I think he might have hid these out of fear of being robbed? I'll have more on this soon as the snow melts enough to get there. OH! I'm editing this...I agree with you about Big Foot. That was meant as a joke, but folks took it serious. I would love to find out it's real, but I'm 55 years old, tromped around the woods in all the Western states for 45 years and never found anything to convince me. I hope I do someday, but until then, I'm skeptical.
@@MuskratOutdoors Thank you for the kind reply! I enjoyed your initial report and I felt compelled to comment. I too would like to know more about what is generating all these stories about Bigfoot! @@wlodell My Wife and I did hear a growl/bark/roar sound that I can't explain. It might have been a grizzly bear, but I really don't know? I'm not ready to jump to Sasquatch, but who knows? If they are real, it could have been I suppose. I guided hunters for nearly 30 years in some really remote country, I've hunted Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Idaho, Montana, and Colorado....all the "hot spots", yet I've never found a single track or seen any convincing evidence. I want them to be real, but I need proof. Right now, Sasquatch is extremely popular. Maybe it's just curiosity?
That is interesting. I would say- Someone had planned to come back and get the furs, but never did. He could have died. Maybe it was a health problem, where he had to leave and didn't have the health and strength to get back into the woods. It could be from aging. I could be dementia or other mental health issue. He could have been arrested and in jail. He could be in a home for the elderly. Maybe he moved suddenly. This last one is possible, but I'd say unlikely. But maybe that's it if he were in a rush for some reason. - running from authorities, or a family emergency in another state, etc.
After looking into this and talking with our friend who is now retired, but was Sherriff, This guy was found dead in the cabin nearby from a gunshot wound. Suicide or murder depends on who you talk to, but why hide those furs? That was 50 years ago! I'm still looking into this, but will have an update video soon. Thanks for watching.
@@MuskratOutdoors Thanks for replying. Oh, that's too bad. I thought maybe he had passed, but I wanted to think he had a long, happy life and went naturally. That is amazing that the milk can was in that condition after 50 years, if that is what did happen. It was hanging and looked sheltered on that tree. Also, it was hanging with wire, not rope. So this shows us a good way to store something.
Yes Sir!! Coming up soon as I can get up there. Right now there is still too much snow. I've found out what happened, but I'd like to get a picture of the guy. So far, nobody seems to have one.
@@KK-hq8jd I'll have more about this soon. This ended up being a really interesting story and a possible murder. Those furs have been there about 50 years.....
From what I have learned, there was at least one other trapper back there he didn't get along with. I think he hid them for that reason.......he was found shot to death in the cabin nearby. Murder? Suicide? Depends on who you talk to. I'll have a follow up video about this a little later this summer.
Thanks. Asking questions from locals born here, I found out he died in about the late 1960's or early '70's. Most folks think he was murdered. I'll have more on this as soon as the snow melts up there this summer.
@@mazlosoutdooradventures8594 So do I. I have often wondered about old abandoned cabins and things, but this is the first time I have been able to find out much about one. It's a good story too!
Where in Idaho? Definitely a trapper's cache. No telling exactly how long it's been hanging there. The stacked poles are a way to season out for a wood stove, a sourdough's trick of cutting green wood in good weather, stacking it vertically to season out, before being "harvested" for cutting and hauling back to camp, or cabin in the snow moons.
Today, I talked to our retired Sheriff about this. He also said there was a trapper living in the nearby cabin in the 1960's-early 1970's. He told be the guy (Neal Allen)had come down with cancer and shot himself in the cabin. Those furs have been in that can a very long time. I'm sure they were his.
So what ever came of this? Did you find out more about this trapper and his cabin!?
@@danielleleclerc4957 I haven't found anything out for sure, but two people told me there was a trapper in the 1960's living back there named Neal Allen. One guy said he thought he died in the old cabin, which would explain why the furs were left behind.

You found Sasquatches secret fur stash. He was hiding it so he could make a winter coat. However, Sasquatches are known for their poor memory so he/she probably forgot where it was. Like your videos! Thanks for sharing your adventures.
Ha! Makes as much sense as any! Thank you!
Bigfoot and I totally agree!
There is a cabin nearby. I have found out more about this. It's a neat story. I'll do a follow up video this Summer.
@@MuskratOutdoors looking forward to it.
I was thinking the same thing. Or he just forgot where he hung it.

Makes me remember the story about Chris Colby, who was attacked and eaten by wolves while trapping. Searchers later found his remains.. along with his pistol (broken mainspring). I believe this happened in Alaska or northern Canada early 1900s.

Very strange! I think I might have found out the rest of the story.

Two separate people said there was a trapper living back there in the 1960's. One guy told me they thought he had died in the cabin near there. That would explain it!
Good score on the can with the lid !
It is! You don't see many of them around anymore.
@@MuskratOutdoors Yes, it is getting interesting.

His life cut short but shows he was a good trapper.
I wonder what else is hid out there?
Loners in the woods are a fascinating kind, also scary at best

Is it a brass can and does it have markings? It may be way older than you think

Got to be an old camp site some place. Or an old miners cave
Oh, no! There are thousands of acres of unexplored land in the world. Maybe tens of thousands.
@@kathywilkins5546 There is. More than that even.
Id go back with drone and survey that whole area. Maybe find some Mountain Mans camp.

@@Shadeskast You never can tell. A lot of people that seem creditable say they have seen them. Have you seen the You tube channel "How to hunt"? He is one I believe. It is very strange. None of the furs are handled very well. All of these furs are sold fur side out. Most trappers take their catch home to process them, so it makes me think he was living or camped back there. Milk cans are uncommon too. My guess is that the old trapper would store them until he had enough to haul them all out at once in a single trip. The milk can would protect them from moisture and predators. Tied to a tree so even a bear wouldn't make off with it. But he died, so there they sat.
Maybe the trapper went missing. Might have made a bigfoot mad and stuffed the trapper in a hole somewhere. Creepy indeed
Strange things happen all the time. It makes ya wonder.
Wow This oldie came across my feed! 4yrs ago!! That old milk can is pretty cool! I read below where you said the old guy was shot for his gold! That's pretty sad!! Be careful up there! ❣❤❤❣
This turned out to be a neat story that I am still finding out more about! I had an update on this...but I don't recall what I called it?
@@MuskratOutdoors Oh dang!
Probably find someone out there with you. But no longer with us.
That's what I was worried about!
Did you ever figure this one out? Pretty weird. My folks owned the wagon hammer campground up in north fork in the early 2000s.
Neat! I like that campground! I think I have figured this out. I've been meaning to make a follow up video about it, and started to several times, but I've been looking for more info. It was a trapper named Neal Allan that died from a gunshot wound around 1970......some say suicide, others say he was murdered. It's a neat story!
That’s probably what the guy who hung them up there said when they asked him what tree did you put that milk can in ?! I don’t know !!
Ha! "The big tree"!
Interesting! The milk container is neat👍
It is! It's in really good shape.
I was looking 4 my damn milk can u found it 4 me
HA! It was a strange thing to find!
@@MuskratOutdoors i agree, weird find man. I probably woulda ran thinking some cult was waiting 2 skin me next! Good vid
Was there any makers mark or dates of manufacture or anything like that on the old milk urn ?
I didn't notice any. I'll have to take a closer look. Kind of seems like there would be? It's an old one made of regular steel. The newer ones are stainless steel.
@@MuskratOutdoors 🇬🇧 Ok my friend , but old regular steel shite was usually pressed with some kind of mark coz that milk urn looks to me like a production outcome , but I could be wrong
@@seandelaney1423 It is factory production made for sure. I didn't see any stamped marks, but I'll look again. I didn't get a chance today.
Gary hi Man can you tell us what happening there in idaho 1 week a lot earthquakes?
There was a 6.5 quake near Challis (About 40 miles South of us). There has been several after shocks since. I haven't heard of any injuries or real damage. We felt it pretty well. Things on shelves inside the house fell off the wall too. Pretty wild!
Muskrat Outdoors big hug buddy. .
@@alexdark2703 Thank you! Same to you.
wow sure makes the imagination run wild thinking of the story of that ole milkcan and furs! as far as the leaned small timber, i'd say someone up there had the foresight to get possible future firewood up off the ground...who knows?
thanks for this, even though it's awhile back...ahh i can smell those woods from here!! :D
Thank you! It has been fun to try to track down info about this. I have been asking around and trying to find a picture of this guy, but so far no luck. I was told the name of the guy he was fighting with, but have forgotten it already. I need to ask again. It sounds like there might have been a third man there too. I'll have more on this soon.
I was wondering were i left that milk can. 😆 Still a nice find . ( Mississippi)
Ha! I hate it when that happens!
Very cool was probly plenty of badgers there when he made that stash. Date on the can?
I didn't see a date on it. I need to look again. From what I have found out, it's been there since the late 1960's/early 1970's.
There's a Neal Allen in Leesburg, Lemhi, Idaho in the 1940 census. Born about 1897 Michigan. Placer miner, divorced.
@@MuskratOutdoors Ancestry.com . He's listed with a partner.
OK! That is the story I'm getting! Rumor is that either his partner killed him, of a rival miner/trapper he was known to be feuding with. I have been trying to find a picture, but no luck so far.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE INFO! Another piece of the puzzle!
Neal Allen, b. 1897-98 Michigan, son of Charles H. and Pearl Harkness. Died 17 Mar. 1945 Los Angeles.
That was a peace offering to the beast. Hope you enjoy the milk can a long way away.
Ya never know.....
Nice find
Thanks!
Can those furs be used for anything at this point or are they too old?
I don't think so. It doesn't show very well in the video, but they had a light green mold on them and were pretty brittle.
What an amazing cool find!
It really is!
Very strange find, like you said, maybe he/she was going to come back but never made it back !🤷🏽♂️ There was a lot of work that was done there ! What a waste !! Love the milk can tho ! I love the old primitive antiques ! Stay safe my friend, say hi to the mrs. ! :) have yourselves a great day !:)
Thank you and you as well. Those milk cans aren't common anymore. This has been there a long time!
Very neat . What an interesting find,
I think so too! It is for sure the strangest thing I've found in the woods!
I'm wondering who sawed down the tree next to you and how long ago
I think they must have been stacked like that for firewood, but it would be tough to do. As near as I have been able to find out, it was about 50 years ago. This was a suicide or murder, I'll have more soon.
Peaked my interest! New sub!
Thank you very much and welcome!
I'll have more to this story in a month or so. Right now there is still too much snow to get there.
I'm an Idaho boy. 46 years. Southern Idaho, but have been around a lot of the state. I will never leave. And yes, I believe in sasquatch. Many reasons why.
I would love to hear it. I'm skeptical, but open minded.
Any sane person SHOULD be skeptical of sasquatch.
Be safe out there sir
@@jdc8352 I believe they are people from Weippe and Kooskia. I am an Idaho native from Kamiah and many of the folks in Weippe and Kooskia fit the description-especially the reported smell. Add to that the reports of Bigfoot having old cars on blocks in front of their houses and...BINGO!!!
Where is the cabin?
Only about a hundred yards away. As soon as possible, I'll have an update video and show it.
It’s a “Trappers Turducken”
😂
Yep definitely strange! The big fellar was probably watching y'all do the video lol.
It's very strange. As a trapper, I know what it takes to catch, skin, and flesh those furs. To hide them and then not come back just doesn't make sense. Since this video, I have found out a lot more about this and I'll have a video about it soon. The guy was shot to death 50 years ago!
@@MuskratOutdoors Wow! Looking forward to it bud!
@@johnnyclemmons9756 Soon!!
It's fun to find thing's in the woods and wonder where they came from and who put them there. Some are spooky and some are cool.
It really is. I love finding old cabins and things. It makes you wonder who built them and why there?
Sasquatch saving his pennies for Jack Links Jerky !! :)
Don't mess with him!! HA!
Those were funny commercials.
How old is the milk can? It would be neat if you could check for fingerprints just to get the rest of the story.
I think so too.
Weird, things that make you go hmmm. I found an old milk can once. It's little more rusted though. It has a stamp on it that says Paris expo and I'm not sure what that is all about.
Interesting! I need to look at this one closer. I don't recall any marks on it.
Makes you wonder, but your proubly right best not too know, but a very good find that old milk can,we used to drink water out of one of those at my grand parents house before they had running water, using a cup shaped ladle, sure do miss my grandpa and the good ol days!!!
Great memories! Things like that are rare today....too bad.
Very Good!..
Thank you!
The fact you are confused says a lot. What an odd, unnerving find.
Nice find.
Thanks! I thought so too!
Sometimes one comes across strange things in the woods?... Ironically you fit that very criteria sir ... . Just an observation...
Yes Sir, I would agree with that.
"I forgot where I left it" is usually the best answer. Maybe a bear got him right after he hung it up.
It turns out to be a more interesting story than that. It is a possible murder, or suicide. I'll have more about this soon.
I am 70 yo, born and raised to hunt, camp, fish, hike, ski, skate, climb, canoe & kayak rivers, streams, the Puget sound and all sorts of other stuff. And I traveled much of the world. But I never encountered anything like Bigfoot. That’s not to say I have not experienced things that go ‘bump into the night’ however. Thanks again!
You should see if you can tann them and make them wall hangers or something
I wish now that I had tried, but I think they were too far gone to save. I found out they had been in that can for about 50 years.

Hmm...no....the school colors are orange and black? I bet the paint does mean something. I'll have to look into that.
that trapper was probably getting nervous for some reason and had just stashed them there, but then decided not to come get em back
From what I have learned, there was at least one other trapper back there he didn't get along with. I think he hid them for that reason.......he was found shot to death in the cabin nearby. Murder? Suicide? Depends on who you talk to. I'll have a follow up video about this a little later this summer.
They must of intended to come back and got in trouble of some sort. Nice find

@@MuskratOutdoors that's awesome ... I love learning the history behind these old timers and there endevors
That’s called a Bigfoot structure.
I dunno.......there has been sightings not far from here, so who knows????
