Hello Claire, just discovered You. What a joy, I am so happy. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge . I purchased two 10 inch cake tins on a whim and when I got home I thought what now! Blind panic, deer in traffic lights sprung to mind. I have only ever done a 8 inch sponge. After watching your video on 4,6,8 and 10 inch cakes. I I feel I can do this. Once again thank you.
You are a life saver!!!!!!!! I have been looking all over youtube for a video like this and haven't really had much luck until I looked up why my cake is cracking on top. That led me to this gem. Thank you soooo much! I hope you are well!
Hi your video is absolutely wonderful and been so helpful today, can I ask though if you could help by sharing what quantities I would do for a chocolate sponge please If at all possible x
Thank you so much, this is so helpful. have a wedding cake soon which i will need size 10 pan recipe and came on RUclips to look for a clue and boom! i found your channel.......you have my subscription right away ma'am.
Thank you so much this video. I'm a first time watcher and I've been struggling with getting the right measurements for a 9 inch cake as most recipes provide for 8" tins. I think I'm going to size down by about 75 grams on each and hope for the best. Thank you again, and if it's not too much trouble you could recommend a 9" tin recipe
You’re more than welcome.. I’m happy to hear it was helpful for you. I am taking a break from making videos at the moment, however I will make a mental note of your request as I would like to return some day 😊
Hi Claire! Thank you so much for this wonderful video! I have just stumbled across your channel!🤍 I have challenged myself to make a cake for my birthday, I love baking and making cheesecakes but this birthday cake is really throwing me over the edge🫣 I am making a 10inch heart cake! I am struggling to find a recipe that would be suited to the tins I have! Would it be the same oven time and heat setting for the heart tins?xxx
Hi Claire, Loved your video thank you. I am making a 10 inch and 6 inch square cake. What depth of pans should i use and quantities for your recipe? Thank you so much 💓
Hi Dionne, you’re welcome 💕 I don’t make square cakes so I’d need to do some calculations.. a 10” square tin will hold more mix than a 10” round so you will need to increase the quantities slightly
Thanks so much, it’s amazing when you find just what you need on RUclips! Could I ask, do you bake this 15 egg batter all at once in the 10” tin or do you pour in one third, bake and repeat another two times? So three different cakes in the 10”or one giant one and slice it! Can you tell I’m a newbie🥴? Thanks!
You’re more than welcome 💗 I bake it as three separate layers, as it is too much mixture to go in one tin. You can split the recipe into thirds, and make a third at a time, as it’s also too much mix to go in a standard mixer at one time. So 500g of each ingredient in each tin, baked one at a time. I hope that helps 😊
Hi there Love your videos..there so relaxing to watch🥰 I have a question if you can reply that would be great. In this video you say that after 30mins you turn the oven down...what temperature do you turn it down to? Thanks in advance for any reply. Jo 😍
Hi Jo, so sorry for the slow reply.. I don’t have a set temperature I turn it down to, but I would say around 160 degrees.. you can also losely cover the cakes with foil/baking paper if they are browning too much. I hope that helps 💕
Aww..thanks soo much for the reply..ive juat actually seen this now as ive got an engagement cake to make and its obot the 2nd time ive been asked to make a 10" cake😱🤞🏻🤞🏻. Thanks again... Really appreciate your reply and help 💋@claireelizabethcreates
Hiya, exactly what i was looking for. I have a question, i want just one cake as i didnt want to layer it, so can i use 2/3 of mixture in one tin.. will it rise / cook properly.. thank you.
Your such a lovely person for sharing your reciep,my cousin asked if i could bake for her and i would love to bake using your reciep if thats alright🤗.
Hi Claire. Just watched your video about baking in 10inch cake tins. Do you have a recipe for a carrot cake in this size tin? The recipe I have is for three 20 cm cake tins (it actually uses 300g of each of main ingredients and 3 eggs plus all the other bits). Any advice?
Hi Claire, I've only just discovered you on RUclips and your very helpful. I've recently got into baking and I'm really struggling to find a reciepe for vanilla sponge 10x10" (squate) which needs to be quite high like yours. Also, temp and how long. Watched loads of your videos Nd that's why I'm now questioning lol and making sure I get it right. Also, I noticed you don't use vanilla extract in your sponge. Is this optional. Thanks Claire x
Hey Jodie, apologies for the delayed reply.. I don’t have a recipe for a 10” square as cakes I make tend to be round. However you can use this recipe and increase the quantities slightly.. it may take a little experimentation depending on how tall and how many layers you’d like. Vanilla extract is optional yes.. I prefer to add it to a syrup or the buttercream as much of it will evaporate in the oven. I hope that helps 😊x
Hi, thank you for this. I'm new to your channel! This has been a life saver as been struggling with quantities for tins. I've tried to see if you mentioned before about how to work out how to work out quantities for different size tins but I had no luck. I'm also looking to to do a 3 layer 8 inch cake as well. So how do I work out the amount of eggs to determine the rest of the quantities? Is it half the size of the tins? So for 3 x 8 inch tins, I'd need 12 eggs? Or am I making it too complicated 🤣 This will be for my sisters wedding cake (2 tiers) on 23rd of July!! :S
Hey Lindsey, you’re welcome.. I have another recipe on my channel for my classic cake that I always use which you might find helpful: ruclips.net/video/v5akTd4CC6g/видео.html For an 8” size tin, 3 layers I generally use 8-9 eggs depending on the size of them.. it really depends on how tall you want your cake to be. Wishing you all the best with the wedding, and let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. Claire 💕x
Hello. Sorry if this I a silly question but when you 1/3 of the recipe. Are you meaning that to increase or decrease came tin size, you either add or take away 1/3 of the recipe? Ie an 8inch cake recipe you add 1/3 of that recipe on for it to fill a 10inch cake tin? Thank you 😊
Hello Catherine. I don't have the answer to this- because I run a cake making business, I make large quantities of butter icing at a time so that I always have plenty to work with.
G'day Clair your Awesome ive been looking for a recipe for a 10ich for ages ❤ but also another question is how much coco power would you put in for a chocolate cake please ❤
Thank you for this! I use a gas oven, so google says Gas 3 is 170 but for me that feels low. I’ll give it a go still but would you say to go higher or just try and see?
So for me I’ve found starting at gas mark four and slowly reducing it down works perfectly for this. Thank you so much :) I separate my eggs first and give the whites a whip until frothy, and the yolks a beat until creamy then combine that into the cake. Rises the full height of the tin 🙌🏼
Hello, I have a recipe for a 6” here: ruclips.net/video/v5akTd4CC6g/видео.html It will be a little less than double the ingredients for an 8” 3 layer cake. I hope that helps 😊
It's difficult for me to say without seeing.. it depends on the depth of the tin. Once the cake has well risen, lightly browned, and a knife inserted comes out clean, it is baked.
Hey , I'm looking to make a 3 tier wedding cake in August , I have only ever baked 6 or 8 inch recipes so hoping to bake the recipe in your video for the 10 inch bottom tier , will this be ok and work? Thankyou for your video you explain very well xx
Hi Jenna, I have been using this recipe for years, and made many wedding cakes of this size.. it has always worked for me. Just make sure you use the correct tins, bake at the right temperature, and for the right amount of time.. this may vary depending on your oven. I wish you all the best with the wedding cake 😊xx
Claire i want to make my sons 18th birthday cake i was thinking 6inch 4 layer cake could u give me receipe iam have never made a proper birthdsy cake before very nervous
Equal quantities of egg, sugar, butter, and flour is normal for this type of cake, and I wouldn't change the the ratios. Instead try a different cake recipe that has a lower quantity, or an egg free cake.

loved this video!! would you say that you could split this recipe between 4 10-inch tins ? x thank you
Aww I’m glad 😊 You can but they will be a little thinner, so bear that in mind x

Hello 😊 I don't have a recipe for a carrot cake no, however you could have a go at doubling the ingredients and dividing between 3 tins.
Hi Claire, I've only just discovered you on RUclips and your very helpful. Hey, a third of the total quantity is in each tin, and I used 3 10” deep round cake tins.. does that help?
Hi Claire, how much buttercream would you need to fill layers and cover the whole of this cake?
Hello Catherine. I don't have the answer to this- because I run a cake making business, I make large quantities of butter icing at a time so that I always have plenty to work with.

Hi mam how much baking powder should I add Incase I'm using plain flour thanks for the video
Hello, you will need approx 1 tsp baking powder for every 100g of flour
I’m a little confused with how you are making each sponge… so the 750g etc is all 3 layers?
Yes that is the total quantity
What would your recipe be for an 8 inch please, i've done the 10 inch twice and was amazing
Hello, I have a recipe for a 6” here:

You made my day
If I only use the first 2/3 of the recipe for a 10 in cake to make 2 layers, and use the last 1/3 on an 8 in, how long should I bake the 8 in cake?
It's difficult for me to say without seeing.. it depends on the depth of the tin. Once the cake has well risen, lightly browned, and a knife inserted comes out clean, it is baked.
Hi Claire, thank you for your really helpful video.
Can you advise me what to put into the cake mixture to flavour it lemon?
Thanks in advance. ❤
You are very welcome 💗 I would use lemon zest.. the flavour is powerful
Hey , I'm looking to make a 3 tier wedding cake in August , I have only ever baked 6 or 8 inch recipes so hoping to bake the recipe in your video for the 10 inch bottom tier , will this be ok and work? Thankyou for your video you explain very well xx

@@claireelizabethcreates thankyou so much! Xx
Do you use flower nails in the center of your batter for even baking?
Hello 🙂 No I have never done this as it hasn't been necessary
Thank you
Hi clare that ingredients you use do you put that into two 10in tins or into one tin
Hello, into two tins, and then I make a third layer.
Hi 😊 just wondering if it’s possible to freeze these?
You can yes 😊
do you use the all in one method?
No I don't use that method
Do you have measurements for doing this in a 9 and 8 inch tin please x
Here is a recipe for an 8” round tin:
ruclips.net/video/v5akTd4CC6g/видео.html
Are the ingredient quantities the same for a 10 inch square tin?
No, you will need to increase the quantities for a square tin
How many would you say your cake would feed for a wedding cake?
Around 42 pieces of a 1” x 2” size.. the cake is quite tall also
Claire i want to make my sons 18th birthday cake i was thinking 6inch 4 layer cake could u give me receipe iam have never made a proper birthdsy cake before very nervous

Is this a typical madeira cake
No it is a Victoria sponge cake
How many kgs will the cake be
You would need to weigh it after baking to find out
Hi mom can I add flavor to this recipe
You can yes
Can you please write all three recipe separately. From 4 in ch to 12 inch tray.
I will make a mental note
@@claireelizabethcreates please do so
What about milk?
Its not necessary to add any for this recipe, unless your mixture is too thick
Pls am baking 10inch help with recipe and measurements
The recipe and quantities is in the video
15 eggs? Its too much! Can't i add anything instead of that much egg??
5 per tier isn’t that bad. You’re making three full cakes so if you use 10 eggs instead then just do two layers :)
Equal quantities of egg, sugar, butter, and flour is normal for this type of cake, and I wouldn't change the the ratios. Instead try a different cake recipe that has a lower quantity, or an egg free cake.
I struggle a lot with the deep tins and would usually have to split the layers into 4 as the deep tins never cook properly in the middle ? Any tips !?
I understand.. I prefer to split the mixture into shallower tins also. It really does depend on what type of cake you are making though.
what causes a cake being to dry
Hey, you can check out this video I made which might be helpful..

You can
