    Hello Claire, just discovered You. What a joy, I am so happy. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge . I purchased two 10 inch cake tins on a whim and when I got home I thought what now! Blind panic, deer in traffic lights sprung to mind. I have only ever done a 8 inch sponge. After watching your video on 4,6,8 and 10 inch cakes. I I feel I can do this. Once again thank you.

    Thank you so much this video. I'm a first time watcher and I've been struggling with getting the right measurements for a 9 inch cake as most recipes provide for 8" tins. I think I'm going to size down by about 75 grams on each and hope for the best.
    Thank you again, and if it's not too much trouble you could recommend a 9" tin recipe

    I have challenged myself to make a cake for my birthday, I love baking and making cheesecakes but this birthday cake is really throwing me over the edge🫣
    I am making a 10inch heart cake! I am struggling to find a recipe that would be suited to the tins I have!
    Would it be the same oven time and heat setting for the heart tins?xxx

    Hi Claire,
    Loved your video thank you. I am making a 10 inch and 6 inch square cake. What depth of pans should i use and quantities for your recipe? Thank you so much 💓

    • @claireelizabethcreates
      @claireelizabethcreates  2 года назад +1

      Hi Dionne, you’re welcome 💕 I don’t make square cakes so I’d need to do some calculations.. a 10” square tin will hold more mix than a 10” round so you will need to increase the quantities slightly

  • @clairedocherty8432

    Thanks so much, it’s amazing when you find just what you need on RUclips! Could I ask, do you bake this 15 egg batter all at once in the 10” tin or do you pour in one third, bake and repeat another two times? So three different cakes in the 10”or one giant one and slice it! Can you tell I’m a newbie🥴? Thanks!

    • @claireelizabethcreates
      @claireelizabethcreates  2 года назад +2

      You’re more than welcome 💗 I bake it as three separate layers, as it is too much mixture to go in one tin. You can split the recipe into thirds, and make a third at a time, as it’s also too much mix to go in a standard mixer at one time. So 500g of each ingredient in each tin, baked one at a time. I hope that helps 😊

    Hi there
    Love your videos..there so relaxing to watch🥰 I have a question if you can reply that would be great. In this video you say that after 30mins you turn the oven down...what temperature do you turn it down to? Thanks in advance for any reply. Jo 😍

    • @claireelizabethcreates
      @claireelizabethcreates  2 года назад +1

      Hi Jo, so sorry for the slow reply.. I don’t have a set temperature I turn it down to, but I would say around 160 degrees.. you can also losely cover the cakes with foil/baking paper if they are browning too much. I hope that helps 💕

    Hi Claire. Just watched your video about baking in 10inch cake tins. Do you have a recipe for a carrot cake in this size tin? The recipe I have is for three 20 cm cake tins (it actually uses 300g of each of main ingredients and 3 eggs plus all the other bits). Any advice?

    • @claireelizabethcreates
      @claireelizabethcreates  7 месяцев назад

      Hello 😊 I don't have a recipe for a carrot cake no, however you could have a go at doubling the ingredients and dividing between 3 tins.

    Hi Claire, I've only just discovered you on RUclips and your very helpful. I've recently got into baking and I'm really struggling to find a reciepe for vanilla sponge 10x10" (squate) which needs to be quite high like yours. Also, temp and how long. Watched loads of your videos Nd that's why I'm now questioning lol and making sure I get it right. Also, I noticed you don't use vanilla extract in your sponge. Is this optional. Thanks Claire x

    • @claireelizabethcreates
      @claireelizabethcreates  2 года назад

      Hey Jodie, apologies for the delayed reply.. I don’t have a recipe for a 10” square as cakes I make tend to be round. However you can use this recipe and increase the quantities slightly.. it may take a little experimentation depending on how tall and how many layers you’d like. Vanilla extract is optional yes.. I prefer to add it to a syrup or the buttercream as much of it will evaporate in the oven. I hope that helps 😊x

    Hi, thank you for this. I'm new to your channel! This has been a life saver as been struggling with quantities for tins. I've tried to see if you mentioned before about how to work out how to work out quantities for different size tins but I had no luck.
    I'm also looking to to do a 3 layer 8
    inch cake as well. So how do I work out the amount of eggs to determine the rest of the quantities?
    Is it half the size of the tins?
    So for 3 x 8 inch tins, I'd need 12 eggs? Or am I making it too complicated 🤣
    This will be for my sisters wedding cake (2 tiers) on 23rd of July!! :S

    • @claireelizabethcreates
      @claireelizabethcreates  2 года назад +2

      Hey Lindsey, you’re welcome.. I have another recipe on my channel for my classic cake that I always use which you might find helpful:
      ruclips.net/video/v5akTd4CC6g/видео.html
      For an 8” size tin, 3 layers I generally use 8-9 eggs depending on the size of them.. it really depends on how tall you want your cake to be.
      Wishing you all the best with the wedding, and let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
      Claire 💕x

    Hello. Sorry if this I a silly question but when you 1/3 of the recipe. Are you meaning that to increase or decrease came tin size, you either add or take away 1/3 of the recipe? Ie an 8inch cake recipe you add 1/3 of that recipe on for it to fill a 10inch cake tin?
    Thank you 😊

    Thank you for this! I use a gas oven, so google says Gas 3 is 170 but for me that feels low. I’ll give it a go still but would you say to go higher or just try and see?

    • @andrewcollins4089
      @andrewcollins4089 7 месяцев назад

      So for me I’ve found starting at gas mark four and slowly reducing it down works perfectly for this. Thank you so much :) I separate my eggs first and give the whites a whip until frothy, and the yolks a beat until creamy then combine that into the cake. Rises the full height of the tin 🙌🏼

    If I only use the first 2/3 of the recipe for a 10 in cake to make 2 layers, and use the last 1/3 on an 8 in, how long should I bake the 8 in cake?

    • @claireelizabethcreates
      @claireelizabethcreates  7 месяцев назад

      It's difficult for me to say without seeing.. it depends on the depth of the tin. Once the cake has well risen, lightly browned, and a knife inserted comes out clean, it is baked.

      Equal quantities of egg, sugar, butter, and flour is normal for this type of cake, and I wouldn't change the the ratios. Instead try a different cake recipe that has a lower quantity, or an egg free cake.
