    How a nun could make a pact with the devil IDK.! How do people get so off track in our Church? Thank you Father. I love Teresa's practicality and spoken common sense. 3 Hail Mary's for you.

      Spiritual Pride. Its the worst kind of Pride. The Saints warned us of this.
      Fr. didnt specifically said it was a nun though. He said it was a woman. It could be a lay woman.

      Not everyone joins religious life for the right reason. Especially during a time when it has a huge influence on society. Today there are some nuns and priests who do not even believe in God, wishing to promote their own agendas rather than the gospel.

      I was going to try to research that and find the woman’s name. He didn’t say she was a nun, but how else could she have deceived the bishops and hierarchy? He said she claimed to be a mystic and that harmed Theresa’s pure path of God she was on. Interesting!! Rabbit hole!!’ Let’s find that woman’s name!!!

    The nun’s name was Magdalena Dela Cruz, a Franciscan. She had seen a very handsome man who she thought was Jesus when she was 5 yrs old. Oftentimes, it’s the sins of the parents or forefathers that invites the devil in the family and down the next generations.

    It is shameful that some in the modern Catholic church try to disassociate the church from Spain when in fact they worked hand in glove on the evangelization of the Catholic faith in the Americas and the Phillipines. Spain and its monarchs ,who were given the title of Most Catholic Majesties by Pope Alexander VI, saw one of their principal responsibilities to be the Christian evangelization and facilitated it in every manner, financially, physically, etc.

    • @CatholicK5357
      @CatholicK5357 Год назад

      What the priest in this sermon is saying is that those who lead the secular world are not making decisions for the Church, whether supported by them or not. The Church and state in Catholic Christendom have always been separate jurisdictions of power, although deeply connected.

    • @valentinr.dominguez2892
      @valentinr.dominguez2892 Год назад

      @@CatholicK5357 The problem is that this priest went out of his way to make the point that you are making when there was really no need to, but leaving out the contribution to evangelization that Spain has made to Catholicism over the the centuries. I am not a fool. I know what the intent was of this priest.

    • @CatholicK5357
      @CatholicK5357 Год назад

      @@valentinr.dominguez2892 The priest addressed both issues. Immediately afterwards he specified that the Spanish monarchs were not wrong in what they did, and on other occasions has mentioned how Spain's extreme actions preserved the Spanish kingdom from heresy under their reign. No one accused you of being a fool. But this is a good priest. He neither panders to the world nor does he shy away from pointing out the errors of Americanism and other modern conservative movements. You say it was unnecessary to mention but clearly he thought otherwise. When errors are commonly believed it is necessary for the clergy to speak the truth on these matters.

    • @valentinr.dominguez2892
      @valentinr.dominguez2892 Год назад

      @@CatholicK5357 The priest went out of the way to state that the Vatican took in those Jews that the Spanish had expelled. That the church was not in agreement with this action. He was attempting to portray a distinction which again was not necessary. I know what this priest was trying to do. The fact is that the Papal States under the orders of popes have expelled Jews. Expulsion of Jews by the Papal States: Pope Pius V in 1569 and Pope Clement VIII in 1583.

    • @CatholicK5357
      @CatholicK5357 Год назад

      @@valentinr.dominguez2892 I suppose anything a priest says in a sermon is unnecessary since sermons, other than on specific days, are optional. But it is the priest's jurisdiction to a certain extent in deciding what to say. I'm glad he said it because I learned something. And again, directly after the statement that you mention he clearly also specified that the Spanish monarchs were not in the wrong for their actions. With both those statements together it is clear to me that the priest has no issue with Queen Issabella - someone who he has spoken up for constantly in other sermons as well.

      On the contrary, they were true nuns. Almost all Royals sent a daughter to be a nun and a son to be a priest. Whether or not you concur that they are 'true' nuns bc of their inherited wealth is your discretion and opinion. However, you sound pompous and over-zealous . ..

      It definitely seems that way. At the same time one of those nuns became the saint spoken of in the sermon. It is not always easy to know if something is off course once it is commonplace. It requires an extra grace from God. From whom much is given much is expected. Objectively speaking though, absolutely, wealth and luxury goes against the spirit of religious life.
