Thank you so much for all these tutorials. the step by step not only helps explain the workflow process, but helps get familiar with all the little tools in autocad in the process
Perfectly done. I've personally completed my project. All that's left is the sheets session. Couldn't have organized it the way I did without your tutorials. Thanks alot
Starting at 4:49. Just a bit curious. When we flatten the roof plan to create the roof details, I didn't see an obvious change in ridge lengths. Are these lengths true? Looking from above a slope would project a shorter length than if we looked at it from another angle. My concern is to ensure that as a DIY (er) I can cut my rafters accurately. Hope you understand.
I think the reason you didn't see an obvious change in length is because I was transitioning from a perfect orthographic 3D view (isometric) to a orthographic plan view. The lines would essentially be the same length. Nonetheless, because we're pulling a plan view from an existing 3D drawing, we wouldn't have to worry about the lines being incorrect. As long as the 3D model was done accurately, you plan views and elevation views will be accurate. Thanks for your question.
Happy New Year Edward, all the best! Thanks for this tutorial on roof plan, KEEP SHARING KNOWLEDGE! God Bless Always. Hope to see soon video on reinforcement details for Stiffeners and strip foundation and roof beam i.e. ring beam which hip roof connects. Thanks!
Great video, to speed up trimming the rafters to the hip, you can use the trim tool to cut the rafters against the hips, this leaves the box with a missing side, to fix this, you can then reselect them and use the properties to make the polylines "closed". When trimming you can also use the "fence" command to select the rafters all at once down the centre of the hip, hope that makes sense
Ed thank you for the great tutorials as always. This kind of diagram does not, however, give you the dimensions you need to cut the boards for assembly. Is there perhaps more value in doing this in 3D so that you can , in the end, measure all the lenghts?
You are correct. You would not va she to get cut lengths from this diagram. 3D is always the best way to go, so you can pull BOM schedules out of it. I think an easier route however would be to do a typical section view showing the rafter connections, with dimensions and annotations, would or could be just as Helpful.
Hi Edward. In E09 we did a roof plan. I added sarking, facia, roof covering and rafters as i followed in that video. Now we are doing a roof framing detail and in following you in this video i created a 2D (Flatten layout) of that roof which gave me a drawing with curve or rounded edges. Do i have to start from scratch (meaning without added sarking, facia etc.) before i do the roof details?
Happy new year Sir Edward. I like the way you explain. Clear and straight forward, detailed and educative. How many episodes are left for this one bedroom house project? Keep up the good work.
Do you sell roof framing plans? I need a roof framing plan for a shed that has a Dutch hip roof that will have clay tiles on the roof. 6:12-8:12 pitch with 4” walls. Needs to be to code in California. Let me know.
you are going to make a video in which the BIM properties of this software is taught. aren't you? im actually so waiting fir this 1 bed room project to end. so excited
You are indeed correct. The rest of this comment is for everyone's knowledge: I would recommend not to model these in 3D if its not going to add to your final renders, or if it's not required to be modeled by your client. Also, the 3D might not be necessary for approvals. It will save your computer some RAM, and time and money.
@@TDVision_U to be honest from I've discovered ur channel on the tube I've learned quite a lot especially on how to use project navigator ....thanks a lot
Hi ! Thanks so much for more explaination i want To know about contribution on your Channel patreon for more information 10$ for upper floor, there is also foundatation-ground floor in this subscription or we need to subscribe again at the others?
Thank you so much for all these tutorials. the step by step not only helps explain the workflow process, but helps get familiar with all the little tools in autocad in the process
YOU ARE ONE OF THE BEST TUTOR I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS. KEEP IT UP AND GOD BLESS YOU REAL GOOD
Perfectly done. I've personally completed my project. All that's left is the sheets session. Couldn't have organized it the way I did without your tutorials. Thanks alot

Thank you and same to you man! Boy a have quiet a few, since I'm trying to give detailed information on each video.

Unfortunately, I do not at this time. Maybe in the future.

Lol I hear you. Its winding down.
Hi! Can you also do a Roof Framing Plan for Double Shed Roofs? It would greatly help!
A faster way to do this while getting the same 3D look of SketchUp is to use the structural beams object option in the tool palette.

Please more architecture videos
What if it is a flat roof?
Like the modern houses one?
I will have to do a video on that. Thanks.
Can you do a video on slab steel work?
That's on my list. Stay tuned.
@@TDVision_U to be honest from I've discovered ur channel on the tube I've learned quite a lot especially on how to use project navigator ....thanks a lot
Awesome. I'm glad to hear that. The project navigator makes a world of difference.

Thank you too. You only need to subscribe to one. The upper floor get access to everything.
Can i have the cad file of this?
yea you should host all these cad files somewhere to give someone a template to play with! Great videos by the way
Plz make a large restaurant detaling sir
.. I need someone to draw a roof plan and materials list. Such as trust, Braces, sheeting, shingles, ice barrier ,etc...?
What causes auto cad to freeze up
There can be many reasons. You will have to give more context.
This is 2d drawing, mate. :D Show us how you detial this in actual 3D.
Are you jamaican bro
