they missed that when seinfeld's parents make their first appearance (second episode first season) Seinfeld's dad is a different actor to the one in the rest of the series.
The Junior Mint was the first episode I ever watched when it first aired. I never missed an episode after. My favorite sitcom along with All in the Family. A lot of All in the Family alumni guest star on Seinfeld.
I think it’s possible the OJ that Elaine is referring to is OJ Anderson, especially considering he was playing for the New York Giants at the time, and the show is based in New York
So I haven’t seen anything about it yet, but one scene in particular would make me pee my pants as a little girl watching this show… Kramer asking Jerry if “he wanted some coffee, because he could get him some coffee” and walking away from the group after having so much coffee after winning his lawsuit for his coffee being hot (which I believe also reflected reality, I want to say it happened with a customer from McDonald’s). Sooo fucking funny. Thank you for brilliant TV back when there wasn’t a whole lot else to do. You helped shape my own sense of humor, wit, and comedic relief in my own life and in my family. Now my nieces and nephew ask me to “be funny” when we spend time together. I also want to give a huge shout out to Elaine, no one really talks about how funny she was/is, especially for an attractive woman in the 90’s, a time when men were starting to obsess over Victoria Secret models, and there was still a sense that women still had roles at home and weren’t attractive if they were funny. She’s right up there with “Lucy” Ball, thank you Julia Louis-Dreyfus for showing a little girl that girls and women can be funny, smart, attractive, and can hang with the boys :) ;)
There's only been one TV show better than Seinfeld and that of course is Twilight Zone which Seinfeld had to make fun of because even they knew they could never beat The "Zone" Jerry accused Serling of making every episode pretty much the same plot which was not true at all. Bizarro World episode kinda resembled a Twilight Zone story which was like a tribute to The Rod Serling Show as Rosanne Barr called it.
Twilight Zone was a very cool show too, although I tended to watch more comedy. I remember reading at least one of the Twilight Zone books when I was growing up, featuring different short story vignettes.
@@stuarthecht8196 Did you have a favorite Twilight Zone episode? Mine was Walking Distance. Gig Young goes back in time and meets himself when he was eleven. A good story about how we shouldn't live in the past. My favorite Seinfeld is The Soup Nazi. "NEXT!"
The Soup Nazi was excellent and hysterical. I have so many favorites I can't keep track, but here are a few: Jerry steals a marble rye from an old lady who later turns out to be on the board at Del Boca Vista, the anti-Dentite, Mr. Pitt eats a candy bar with a fork and knife, shrinkage, Sponge-worthy, "not-that-there's-anything-wrong-with-it," Kenny Roger's Roasters, the list goes on. I don't know the Twilight Zone nearly as well, but two cool episodes I remember are the lady who buys something on the top floor of a department store and when she goes to return it she finds out that floor doesn't exist, and the lady who gets multiple plastic surgeries in order to look ugly like everyone else in her society.
I like all those episodes you mentioned and it is very hard to pick a favorite but I really liked the one about the moile which included the story of the pigman and George trying to extort money from the hospital where the suicide landed on his car. Kramer, who protected the baby from the moile, was the godfather in that one as well. "Never go against the family, Jerry!" he said in his best Marlon Brando voice. The other Zone I really liked was the one where the librarian was deemed obsolete. The ending was ironic and explosive!! Not to mention Time Enough at Last also starring Burgess Meredith as the last man on earth.
Btw... the theme song, as such, was the exact same at the beginning (and end) of every episode. What varied from episode to episode was Greg Wolf's "bass-plinking" intro at the beginning of every Scene 1.
The idea that this was a show about nothing has always been ridiculous. The show is actually about everything. To this day, something will happen to me or someone I know and I can always say that there was a Seinfeld episode about that.
Not until Brooklyn 9-9 has a show made me crack up and continue chuckling through nearly every episode at the zany absurdities and quick wit since Seinfeld.
There is a handful of shows that do that, hopefully that does not change with age. Cant even think about my kids saying hey dad have you sen this new show on TikTok?
It is likely I have seen every episode 10x. I can’t recall a period where I did not watch it. I still watch it, even though I know exactly what is going to happen. The soup nazi, the pen, mandelbaum, Keith Hernandez… all the cameos and actors doing piece work. It would never work again.
actually now that you meantion it, i watched it casually as it originally aired on tv as a kid, then the reruns, then the second reruns, then when the dvds were getting out, then on internet and now on netflix. maybe there was a year or two of my life without seinfeld but overall the show has had a constant presence in my entire life since birth
I absolutely love this show. Just tonight Jan. 4, 2024 I have been watching Seinfeld since 5:00 pm & it is 7:40 pm on IPhone scrolling through looking for more episodes to watch ❤❤❤❤ Patty Smith
The guy who played Joel Rifkin in the show as Elaine's boyfriend was the same actor who played Henri in the later seasons of Cheers. He was a French guy who was trying to steal Kelly away from Woody.
George Wendt who played Norm on Cheers did an appearance on Seinfeld. Ted Danson was referred to on Seinfeld jokes. Michael Richards who played Kramer has appeared on Cheers. The two shows were on the same network (NBC)
Seinfeld best comedy? Yes no doubt! But the Honeymooners are not even in my top thirty comedies. Frasier, Friends, Newhart and Mary Tyler Moore are my top five. That's from the movie "Who Cares?" Chicken Soup was better than the Honeymooners. My opinion of course. Your milage may vary. "Mister? Are you listening to me?"
Ive been rewatching the show on netflix since october for god know what time and im still finding things in it to appreciate anew. i never noticed until now the significant change in the show's dynamic after season 7 when larry leaves, he gave it the magic it has. best comedy show on earth, seinfeld forever
From the UK so I no real emphasis on how massive or good this show was. Came on Netflix, thought go on give it a go. Binged all seasons, loved it and miss it so much.
As a big Seinfeld fan 😍 loved your video. Detailed facts. Fun. Interesting. Well researched. Just watched several episodes last 🌃 night and they still make me laugh. Great cast great chemistry and comedy. And wonderful supporting guests.😊😊😊😊😊😊
it is by far the best tv series ever at least to me! i don't know how many times I watched Seinfeld but I watched it at least once a year! A lot of amazing and unforgetable tv moment, plus it takes me back to a simpler times! I love this show!
Growing up during the 90s this was my dad's favorite show and would always watch it as soon as he got home from work it didn't matter if I was watching my favorite cartoons he would change the channel to Seinfeld and I just remember thinking that it was the most boring adult show on TV and now that I'm a fully grown adult myself I finally realized just how good the show actually is or was but hated it as a young kid and another reason why my dad loved the show so much because he was also a new Yorker but joined the army when he was 18 so I guess it reminded him of being back home since he lived just outside of NYC on long Island. Every summer when we went to visit his family we always had a day trip to the city just walking around NYC all damn day it got to the point that going to NYC got boring after the 3rd time seeing it and have been there at least 17 times so it was just meh and would have gathered stayed at my aunt's house playing my video games than walk around the city for 8 hours looking at the same sights and going to the same stores year after year and the only thing that really sticks out in my mind was visiting a high end clothing store on 5th Ave and seeing a pair of jeans that were $5000 and thinking they looked no better than a pair of Levi's and who would pay such a price for pants just because of the name of the brand is why it cost so damn much. I did enjoy people watching though since there's a bunch of weird or crazy people roaming the streets of NYC never did see any celebs
It was wise to "put the kibosh" on the audience's endless cheering at Kramar's entrances. This reminded me of "Married with Children," where whenever ANYONE walked onto the set, the audience would cheer and otherwise react for what seemed like an eternity. (I have never understood why people love that show so much, but they do, including one of my favorite professors from college!)
I thought the lack of chemistry was the whole gag. The whole time you are scratching your head about why she would even want to be with George, and he is so clearly miserable to be around her.
Critical and very important to understanding "Seinfeld" is knowing the show was based on the 1950's "Abbott & Costello" show. The "Abbott & Costello" show was about four people, one women and three men, living in an apartment. "Abbott & Costello" even had a Newman, called Mike the cop.
Very very good list! But you forgot to add the fact that Jerry Stiller would look to the sky while on camera when he had trouble remembering his lines because he was nervous - and the gesture only added to his character’s hilarity 😄
This was an awesome video remember watching Seinfeld in the early 2000’s as a child on Fox after the simpsons not really enjoying it to growing up and realizing this is probably one of the best shows produced
Just noticed the guy who voiced the Bubble Boy was Jon Hayman, who was also a writer on the show and a producer on Curb. Guessing that was also the inspiration for the HS gym coach, Coach Hayman, and his little baked bean teeth.
Watched from the very beginning when it was the Seinfeld Chronicles. After that first showing Seinfeld was switched from one night to another. I told everyone who'd listen that the show was gonna be a huge hit and was funny. Eventually everyone else agreed.
So GLAD, Netflix picked it up, I've seen all episodes multiple times, so much I know all the lines! Lol.. I watched it before I went to work in 90s..now as I retired 😅 .
I had just found out the complete series box set wasn't actually $100000 on Amazon, and just as I was preparing to actually order it, I find out it's on Netflix AND Comedy Central..totally saved some $$ there! Also have to say it's definitely the "Susan era" that Elaine looked her best..that hair! 😍😛
I thought it was interesting how “the real Costanza” filed a lawsuit claiming they used HIS life as inspiration for George, when Larry David has always said that HE is George. Even with multiple episodes of stories with George being events that actually happened to Larry David
The way the story lines tie together at the end is just brilliant! Love Seinfeld! Elaine is my favorite! I actually have her exact laugh! 😂 And my name is Alaine 😃
The Kramer “entrances” were reminiscent of those experienced from The Fonz in the seventies. I wonder if the cast of Happy Days had the same difficulties in comedic timing as a result.
This is one of the few "did you know" facts about a show/moive that I have never heard. Bravo 👏

Another fact: Remember the ep. where Kramer locks himself out of his apartment and has to stay at Jerry's? When they go to bed, his "Patio furniture's on sale" line was improvised.
I watched every season, but could not stand when they introduced Susan, and was glad when she was 'killed off'. LOL And I still reference many lines from this show to this very day. Loved it!

I use a Seinfeld reference when i talk about anything in my life 😄
no hugging no learning...what a genius larry david is
I think it’s possible the OJ that Elaine is referring to is OJ Anderson, especially considering he was playing for the New York Giants at the time, and the show is based in New York

One of my favorite episodes Jerry goes out of town on a job Kramer comes in his apartment and does everything include start a fire
And let’s not forget the dancing Elaine tried doing. It was so funny.
The fact that Wayne Knight was really in JFK makes it funnier 😂
He was brilliant in "Jurassic Park".
And so was the Fire Captain in the hook and ladder episode😂
Wow, those actually were facts I didn't hear a million times before! Thanks!

It was actually Michael Richards who threaten to quit if he was left out of any more episodes, after being left out of the Chinese restaurant episode
I always thought the rest were jealous because he was highly popular. Consider who you are working with here.
Jerry was 45 when he got married and had his first kid, that gives me hope, I used to be worried that at 35 I didn't have a kid or was married
Gives me hope for my son too,!,,

Great job on this! Seinfeld was one of my all-time favorite TV shows. I still miss it, but am grateful for all the laughter it still brings me.
There's only been one TV show better than Seinfeld and that of course is Twilight Zone which Seinfeld had to make fun of because even they knew they could never beat The "Zone"
Jerry accused Serling of making every episode pretty much the same plot which was not true at all.
So they weren’t the same
Jerry and Larry hitting a billion dollars each in their lifetime from this one show is well deserved.
not sure about the number, but if 2 guys deserve to be the wealthiest people in Comedy it's these two.
yeah.. they made many peoples lifes significantly better
@@MauriceGucci and don’t forget Julia Louis Dreyfus, her family are billionaires too, not from the show but she was rich before she even got casted
Other shows would go six episodes and get dropped, but this show was given years to get going. Wonder why? 😉
In the game Forgotten Waters you can collect an item called ‘Very Puffy Shirt’ (description ‘Now that’s a puffy shirt!’)
The idea that this was a show about nothing has always been ridiculous. The show is actually about everything. To this day, something will happen to me or someone I know and I can always say that there was a Seinfeld episode about that.
For example. I had a shirt with a button in the wrong place. It drove me crazy.
the way you pronounced 17 women at 4:47 gave me chills

Not until Brooklyn 9-9 has a show made me crack up and continue chuckling through nearly every episode at the zany absurdities and quick wit since Seinfeld.
There is a handful of shows that do that, hopefully that does not change with age. Cant even think about my kids saying hey dad have you sen this new show on TikTok?
Arrested Development.
I loved Seinfeld!! I have them all on DVD!!
I absolutely love this show. Just tonight Jan. 4, 2024 I have been watching Seinfeld since 5:00 pm & it is 7:40 pm on IPhone scrolling through looking for more episodes to watch ❤❤❤❤
Patty Smith
The guy who played Joel Rifkin in the show as Elaine's boyfriend was the same actor who played Henri in the later seasons of Cheers. He was a French guy who was trying to steal Kelly away from Woody.
George Wendt who played Norm on Cheers did an appearance on Seinfeld.
Ted Danson was referred to on Seinfeld jokes.
Michael Richards who played Kramer has appeared on Cheers.
The two shows were on the same network (NBC)
No one cares about that fact

Greatest show ever ….along with the Honeymooners 💥
Seinfeld best comedy? Yes no doubt! But the Honeymooners are not even in my top thirty comedies. Frasier, Friends, Newhart and Mary Tyler Moore are my top five. That's from the movie "Who Cares?"
Chicken Soup was better than the Honeymooners. My opinion of course. Your milage may vary.

Jason Alexander being stuck to act with his fiancee with bad chemistry against his own will just makes the acting more funny.
I remember they all complained her timing just did not jive with the rest. But it works onscreen for the relationship.
Ive been rewatching the show on netflix since october for god know what time and im still finding things in it to appreciate anew. i never noticed until now the significant change in the show's dynamic after season 7 when larry leaves, he gave it the magic it has. best comedy show on earth, seinfeld forever

it is by far the best tv series ever at least to me! i don't know how many times I watched Seinfeld but I watched it at least once a year! A lot of amazing and unforgetable tv moment, plus it takes me back to a simpler times! I love this show!
I never noticed the stand up bit missing after season 7
I think every man has a little of the Al Bundy attitude. That's why the show was so popular.
Awesome fun facts. Definitely didn’t know most of these. How awkward must it have been for the actress who played “Susan” and the rest of the cast lol
Knowing the truth on why the Susan character got booted is awkward. This way of writing people out of shows won’t likely change.
Watch it every night. Always makes me happy after a bad day.
I still laugh after 30 years...........
Very very good list! But you forgot to add the fact that Jerry Stiller would look to the sky while on camera when he had trouble remembering his lines because he was nervous - and the gesture only added to his character’s hilarity 😄
😆just binged all 9 seasons again this month
This was an awesome video remember watching Seinfeld in the early 2000’s as a child on Fox after the simpsons not really enjoying it to growing up and realizing this is probably one of the best shows produced
7, 8 and 9 were pure gold.
You know its good when it might be the fifth time you've seen it and still laugh
People overlook the clowns in the show too. The Fire is possibly my fav episode.
Hands down, the best show ever...

I have all the seasons on DVD- I'd take a hundred bucks. People are stupid.
@@trollsymctroll5361 I've torrentend them all for free, I figured Jerry does not need more money while I most certainly do.
I thought it was interesting how “the real Costanza” filed a lawsuit claiming they used HIS life as inspiration for George, when Larry David has always said that HE is George. Even with multiple episodes of stories with George being events that actually happened to Larry David
Been watching since a teenager in the mid nineties and still holds up to this day
This was amazingly researched and put together!

oh yes when I went to Jerry's stand-up last year in Minneapolis.. he explained how much he loves doing stand-up & that's why he's there..
The Kramer “entrances” were reminiscent of those experienced from The Fonz in the seventies. I wonder if the cast of Happy Days had the same difficulties in comedic timing as a result.
you missed that the real kramer made a tour bus and it was called the real kramer , and in the show kramer makes a tour bus called the real peterman
I believe they actually mentioned that
This is one of the few "did you know" facts about a show/moive that I have never heard.
Loved it!
Same here. She was a good "straight man", but the show didn't need one.
