- There is only one reasonable explanation for why a group of devout Jews would write about and die for the belief that a person was resurrected, not at the end of times but in the middle of time, and that a man could also be God. Both of these claims were either foreign or blasphemous to them. The only reasonable explanation? It was all true.

Dang, you're getting very desperate, aren't you 😂🤦🏻♂️
A modern comparison with Paul accurately reciting a creed from just after the resurrection is like asking someone to recite the words of the British anthem, o the Queen. Everyone knows the words letter for letter. In a world where written texts were not available to the public and most people could not read, the memory was very reliable on culturally significant statements and stories. Memorisation was the normal means of preserving important stuff, like genealogies for example.
It’s not even comparable to today’s standards, just like people can’t even record a phone number today because of smartphone contact list but we used to be able 20 years ago, imagine how good was people’s memories when they reading or writing anything was an option.

Then the historians are crazy.
The original manuscripts are cleary reliable because they are the ORIGINAL text.
And for the objection 'Well, even scholars admit the Bible was changed!'
The answer? Well, obviously yes! It's pretty well known about the longer ending of Mark, or the small addition to the passage in 1 John 5, or other little things like that.
This does not change the facts that Frank stated:
-The Bible is over 99% accurate to the original texts
-And further (as Frank has noted elsewhere, too, he's not ignorant of this) none of the questionable passages effect doctrine
We're aware of what things are question marks, or likely additions, and what impact they have if they actually were canon or not (the answer: nil!).
There's a good reason why Christian scholars admit they know of the changes, and that's because the data is overwhelmingly clear and the manuscripts so abundant that it's obvious which parts *are* changed (and how small the changes are!).
No other ancient book in history is as scrutinized, nor does it come out so shining with a 99%+ accuracy rate, with the questionable spots not effecting doctrine. Trying to cast doubt on the Bible by saying "It's corrupted" simply doesn't work with modern scholarship on the field.
This is a very good point

All the way at the end of the video, Dr. Turek says: "You wouldn't have documents from the first century written by Jews about Jesus rising from the dead unless he did rise from the dead."
I don't think that is necessarily true, and I don't think you can draw that conclusion based on the evidence we have. At most you can say that 'You wouldn't have documents from the first century written by Jews about Jesus rising from the dead unless *the writers believed* he rose from the dead.'
And those writers were willing to die for what they witnessed or believed.
@@MarkNOTW If we assume Peter wrote the epistles that were attributed to him, he could qualify, but he does not give direct eyewitness account testimony in these epistles, their authorship is disputed, and Peter's death is not in the Bible. Assuming he died in the aftermath of the fire of Rome, it is doubtful he could have saved his life by recanting, so we cannot be sure that he was really willing to die for what he knew to be a lie or not.
The death of James, the son of Zebedee is recorded in the Bible, in Acts, but I don't think he left any testimony, and even the passage in Acts leaves it uncertain whether he was executed for his faith or for political reasons.
James the brother of Jesus was not one of the disciples. He may have written the epistle of James, although we don't really know this. In any case, I don't think it contains an eyewitness account of the resurrected Jesus, and his death is not recorded in the Bible. There are conflicting accounts of his death, but none of these suggest that he could have saved his life by recanting.
In fact, I can't think of anyone who would qualify under these conditions. Can you?
@@MarkNOTW Watch this guy. If you notice, he makes a whole lot of unsupported assumptions. He goes around questioning everything. In this case he substitutes guesswork for what is pretty well known.
He also mistakes beliefs for what was known. He asserts they believed in the resurrection. Wrong! They knew whether the resurrection happened or not. Besides the gospels, in 1 Cor. 15, Paul writes of hundreds of people witnessing the resurrected Jesus and His ascension. Paul did not write Corinthians until around 30 years after the event, but that is still well within the life time of many of the witnesses. By naming many of them, it is as if he was challenging skeptics to question these witnesses. Even at that time, it was too easy for skeptics, especially the Jews, to publish around that those witnesses never existed. Yet, one does not find that. Plus, in tracing the life of Paul, it is believed he received that specific information just a couple of years after the resurrection. He constantly wrote of the resurrected Jesus. And, he did have a direct contact with the resurrected Jesus.
This guy just wants to do everything in his power to discredit Christianity. Don't know what his beef is, but he has one. But, just like in this case, he is so convinced of his need to discredit Christianity he loses all perspective, and in this case he has actually lost rationality. He cannot distinguish between the very significant difference between what a person believes and what one knows; a difference specifically addressed in court cases. Of course, he just might be purposely trying to confuse the two to support his position. In that case it is no better than a lie. Many, including myself, have tried to reason him, but his bigotry overshadows any rational conversation. Have fun with him. Delving deeply into the logic of his comments leaves one chuckling some times. This is just one such case.
Have a good evening.
@@MarkNOTW I am having trouble posting the first part of my answer to you. I see the second part has gone through. I think you can understand from that which point it was illustrating.
@@danielpray9089 You said about me: "In this case he substitutes guesswork for what is pretty well known."
If it is only " *pretty well* known", then apparently there is some uncertainty, and one way of filling in uncertainty is by guesswork, is it not? I also note that you decline to be specific about what is "pretty well known" and what is "guesswork", which rather takes the sting out of the barb, but I am sure you will fill us all in later.
You said: "He asserts they believed in the resurrection. Wrong! They knew whether the resurrection happened or not."
Who are "they"? Where did "they" tell us what "they" "knew"? Where are the testimonies of the "hundreds of people witnessing the resurrected Jesus and His ascension"? All I can see in 1 Cor. 15 is Paul making a claim. And Paul wasn't there to see either the resurrected Jesus or the 500 people witnessing the resurrected Jesus, so he is just telling us what others have told him. Paul himself only ever had visions of Jesus, and in Acts he actually only hears a voice, which happened well after Jesus has ascended into heaven. Paul therefore did not physically encounter the resurrected Jesus.
You said: "This guy just wants to do everything in his power to discredit Christianity."
Nope. I just don't want people to have faith in silly things that impact the world my children will live in. I don't want you to support silly legislation because you believe some Bible verse in stead of following reason.
You said about me: "He cannot distinguish between the very significant difference between what a person believes and what one knows; a difference specifically addressed in court cases."

Let's face it the bible is the Word of God.
Its one thing to claim that Christianity is true regardless of the integrity of the bible. But it is ingenuine to claim that the text the not change. The variation in the manuscripts are proof of that. The rejected apocrypha books, the gospels that were not even considered... The list goes on. The truth is clear that there were obvious changes for sure. And that doesnt necessarily make Christianity false. Truthness is key.
Can I trust a book that tells us that the author can provide us with false revelations (1 Kings 22)?
Since when does the age of a book have anything to do whether or not the book is reliable. Would that logic 2000 years out invalidate the books written today?
I mean, wouldn't that same logic 2000 years out invalidate the books written today?
@@edwardwicks304 yep. It’s not the mere fact of time passing, it’s because of what the world was like 2000 years ago. 5:14 "then they go and die for it." Turek should know better after his interview with Sean McDowell, and yet he continues to implicitly rehearse these legends. Dr. McDowell wrote his PhD thesis on the martyrdom of the apostles. He concluded that the fantastical accounts of the apostles being tortured and killed for their beliefs found in apocryphal books like The Acts of Paul and The Acts of Peter are unhistorical myths. The historically reliable sources (a few verses in 1 Clement, one paragraph in Josephus and the passing NT references) supply only scant evidence according to Dr. McDowell. This is one of those arguments that gets blown insanely out of proportion by amateurs. Go watch Turek's interview with Sean McDowell if you are in doubt.

We really dont know how a lot of the early apostles died. Its based on church tradition.....which was carefully crafted by the early Catholic Church. I dont know of any 3rd party Roman Source that backs up the claims of persecution and execution. According to that same church tradition some apostles lived to an old age.
Turek also isnt mentioning the fact that the last few verses of Mark that talk of Jesus returning after death werent added until MUCH later. Around the 2nd or 3rd century if Im correct.
Christianity was written in the zodiac constellations thousands of years before the OLD Testament was written. The _oldest_ book in the Bible is Job and it says, “He is the Maker of the Bear and Orion, the Pleiades and the constellations.” - Job 9:9
Many of you are familiar with the constellation Virgo. She’s a virgin who holds an ear of wheat grain 🌾. The BRIGHTEST star in Virgo is named Spica which is Latin for ear of wheat. What does a virgin holding an ear of wheat have to do with the gospel of Jesus Christ? If you’ve guessed Virgo is the Virgin Mary then you’re correct.
Let’s look at a prophecy that Jesus spoke Himself in John 12:23-24, it reads,
“Jesus replied, "The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.”

People trust history books from the same time period. Why is the Bible any different?
If you look at all modern translations, they have the genealogy from Shem to Abraham with the age of each man when their first son was born. And they're all in the neighborhood of 35 years old. If you compare those passages to the Greek Septuagint, the writings of Flavius Josephus, or other sources, which were based on much older Hebrew manuscripts, those ages are all in the neighborhood of 135 years. Modern creation scientists base nearly all historical timelines on the younger ages though, which has the effect of removing 650 years from history. This causes all kinds of historical timing problems that atheists point out, problems like the construction of the pyramids colliding with the flood. I think christians should address this and other problems rather than just saying that the scriptures are totally reliable. You said 99% which was good. But we should probably address and correct the 1% if we know what the errors are.

@@JamesRichardWiley Which science are you referring to? Actual science or the cult of science being pushed on us today?
@@EtanoS24 I disagree. I see no reason to interpret the bible any way other than literally unless Jesus makes it clear that he's telling a parable. What justification is there for taking scripture as allegory or metaphor? It just seems to me that people do that so that they can make scripture say whatever they want.
@@EtanoS24 Still not buying it.
@@EtanoS24 "The majority of Christians today don't take Genesis as being literal" I disagree. But I guess that depends on who you consider to be a Christian.
Do these people need a 10 days old book to prove something to be true?
There Holy Spirit and the prophecy being fulfilled is proof of the resurrection.

Some of these current translations, NO.
All translations are translations. Older translations were written in the dialect of their time.
@@MarkNOTW ?,who said they weren’t. The problem is that “some “ of these later translations are so warped with opinion that the casual Sunday go to church study will take as gospel truth. I can name many that are just wrong and change the context to a point that it becomes very difficult to find the truth.
No I can't TRUST unless i Don't know The content 😂😂😂😂😂
"You wouldn't have a new testament unless the resurrection occurred" You're forgetting one other possibility. Paul made the whole thing up. Who said there were Christians before Paul? The gospels were written long after Paul. By then, Paul firmly established his story among many people. The question is can you TRUST the nt. The fact that we have all these manuscripts doesn't mean any of it is true. They might all be the product of a fabricated fairytale by the charismatic Paul. And even if there were Christians before Paul, did they really know any of these doctrines like vicarious atonement or did Paul just make them all up? Just a thought.
