    Worth noting: The Primaris were met similarly by Space Wolves to Dark Angels, with some firstborn Wolves seeing them as Ultramarines in gray armor rather than fellow scions of the Wolf King. Logan Grimnar himself issued the Kin-Pack declaration to have them properly inducted into the Chapter. A new system was developed in which firstborn and primaris Wolves met in unarmed combat, with the Wolf Priests halting all fights before they can become fatal. This way, the Primaris can prove themselves to their firstborn brothers, and the firstborn Wolves can see that they are just as much sons of Russ as they.

      I'm not 100 % sure, though. The Custodes are intelligent beyond peer and can be very cryptic in terms of their practices, but they also hold a great grudge towards the Astartes for what happened during the Heresy and deem them untrustworthy as a whole.

    The Primaris are a significant, but relatively small, improvement over baseline marines (to say nothing about the more directly created soldiers of the emperor like Grey Knights and Custodians), and it took Cawl, the greatest creative mind baseline humanity has ever produced in the age of the imperium, 10,000 years and the virtually limitless resources of the Ad-Mech and a galaxy spanning imperium to produce.

Maybe Cawl would be accused of tech-heresy for his work without Guilliman's public approval and was more interested in not sticking his own neck out by helping people? Or maybe he was waiting for a dramatically contrived time to reveal it because only at that exact moment at the greatest of needs was it ready? Or maybe it was unclear if it was ready at all?

      @@kermit8173 Destroying Animators. The one thing that kept wh40k alive these years and what gave it hype. The animations. If not for Bruva, or TTS, wh40k would've slowly faded to the unknown. Even when Dawn of War II came out, wh40k was basically a cult classic. Far from mainstream. Pretty much nobody gave it a thought, regardless of books, because of the lack in content.
      But so many online artists came after 2010. So much digital artwork. That people started commissioning wh40k art. Some people make videos, lore or funny, and slowly it started to be a thing. All thanks to the artist, animators, fans. All thanks to people who paid those animators and helped them.

    Part of me is happy that Primaris are not something Chaos already has copied, and they have to go without, but I really am still surprised they haven't. Cawl had 10,000 years to work, but so has Fabius Bile, depending on time dilation vs warp spaghetti, and he's been able to clone Primarchs. I know he has other things going, and has his "New Men", but the idea that he hasn't managed to improve CSM forces with his own High Science, captured some functional Primaris, and vivisected them, or just had one group of Primaris fall to Chaos, and then the bits are in their arsenal, leads me to wonder. Oh well.

    • @Aredel
      @Aredel 2 года назад

      You'd have to get the chaos marines to agree to the upgrade and make it a widely known and applicable transmutation that the warbands would be willing to use. As for the Primaris marines themselves, they'd be closely watched by all the chapters and executed if they turned traitor. Even if they escaped, they don't know how the procedure works, and there'd be so few of them that it wouldn't make much of a difference.

    There is an interesting moment in an audio where there is a huge battle going as elements of the Ultramarines and Space Wolves stand watching, the latter with a brand new contingent of Primaris attending, when a agitated Firstborn Space Wolf asks "Why are we not joining the fight!" only for his Ultramarine counterpart to reply dryly "We are waiting for orders." Without any invivation, a Primaris Space Wolf says "We're waiting for orders" like a spoilt child mocking the Ultramarine and causing much sniggering and amusment amongst the Firstborn Wolves.
