  • Say goodbye to craters with this method!
I am always looking for ways to prevent craters (craters are little holes that form in small flooded sections of your icing), and I recently heard you can prevent them by poking holes in your icing (thanks to a tip I saw done by @thegoodiesgoddess 🙏🏻), and I had to try it! I don’t know the science behind it, I don’t even understand how anyone figured this out, but it works! I was skeptical at first, which is why I made the squiggly lines here with my outline consistency icing, but I have since tried this technique dozens of times on different cookies without the squiggly lines, and it has worked like a dream.
This is a game changer for me because I am always careful about not letting my base layer dry too much before adding top details. And while the squiggly line is still a great preventative measure, and I do still use it, it isn’t fool proof if your flood layer is already very dry. But with this technique, you can wait hours in between flooding and detail work without any issues of craters! You can poke holes in a bare cookie, fully dried icing, or icing that is just crusted over, and I am confident it will work for you. 10/10 highly recommend!
