Her lack of vibrato is the reason I think some people think she can't sing, but it's what gives her voice that trade mark conversational aspect which is perfect for her since her lyrics and storytelling are the focal point of her music and her greatest strength. I love how listenable and pleasant her tone is.
And it's not like she can't do it. I've seen performances of various songs where she does implement a vibratto. So the fact she doesn't really do it is clearly just a style choice and not a question of ability.
Andrew Lloyd Weber composed the music and he asked Taylor to write the lyrics. The lead actress sang it. Taylor did do musical theater before she started singing.
Are you familiar with the stage version? she wrote the song with Andrew Lloyd Weber, who did the original music. He has said writing it with Taylor was the only good thing about the movie -- he really didn't like the CGI and what they did to it. Stellar cast, abysmal reviews. Taylor, however, loved every minute of it, because they did a behavioral training thing they called "cat school" which is supposed to last a couple weeks. So Taylor repeated it several times, because, cats. 🥰
Terrible movie! I have many times lamented how the people behind a masterpiece script, phenomenal cats, could produce such trash. ALL of those stars were far more talented then that movie portrayed. A golden opportunity turned to lead.
The song isn’t a flop but the movie definitely was. Taylor did a great job at writing a song that feels like her but doesn’t deviate too far from the original material. I feel like if the movie hadn’t been such a mess, this song would have definitely been nominated for Best Original Song at the Oscars
I’m so glad you enjoyed this song, I really do but I like Broadway musicals. She wrote this with Andrew Lloyd Webber for the Cats movie, which was a flop. Webber said the only thing enjoyable about the entire movie was writing this song with Taylor. She wrote the lyrics and melody on top of his instrumentals.
Congratulations, I think you just unlocked a new level of Swiftie-dom…Swiftie-ism? Whatever…lol. You’re a Swiftie and you’ve leveled up! And OF COURSE she’s thought about Broadway 🎭 Us Swifties who also identified as “theater kids” at some point in our lives are all holding our breath until the day comes. How much better do you guys think she would sound if she recorded this song today? It’s been a long 5 years, and her improvement is constant.
The lyrics & her vocals…hauntingly beautiful ✨ You’re spot on about her humor. Any interview about this film alone is testament to that😂 She auditioned for Les Mis w/Eddie Redmayne & they happened to be on Graham Norton years later. You should watch their exchange about it. 😂ANY interview on Graham Norton ends up being hilarious, but it’s especially true w/Taylor. The British talk show scene is her playground-much more relaxed. No bc i LOVE her tone ive NEVER seen someone replicate her tone or voice like they sing her songs but NO ONE has come close to sounding like her

This is sooo true. As someone that defends her singing ability, I second this! She just doesn't find vibrato to be marketable to her branding
@@hugomendoza5665 Exactly. she has a beautiful vibrato but she doesn´t use it much, most definitely a style choice.
One of her finest vocal performances and the song is heartbreaking lyrically. It is the anthem of the outsider.
Andrew Lloyd Weber composed the music and he asked Taylor to write the lyrics. The lead actress sang it. Taylor did do musical theater before she started singing.
He also said that writing this with Taylor was the only good part about making that movie 😂
Taylor also sang in the movie's credits

I still hope she sings this in London at the Eras Tour as a surprise song
Taylor was a theater kid! Would love to see her on Broadway!
This is what I pull up when people say she can't sing. I love this so much.
Im so glad you reacted to this one! It’s one of my favorite and underrated songs from her 🥹
Oh, this is one of my favorites. I really hope she sings it on tour. I would love to hear it live. It’s so beautiful.
Really hoping she plays this in London
I’m so happy you reacted to this! One of best vocal performances. Heartbreaking lyrics.
I absolutely love love LOVE this song and her voice is absolutely STUNNING

As a musical lover & connoisseur if u will, this should’ve won ALL of the awards!!! For all that she gets, she loses also 4 being as big as she is

Hauntingly Beautiful.
She can do anything. Another side to her. There are so many.
I think she will eventually write an award winning musical... maybe during her maternity leave.
WOW WOW BEAUTIFUL SONG AND YOUR REACTION/PRICELESS. THANK YOU FOR SHARING
Thanks for this. Never heard it before and it's so beautiful. I wonder if there are more she does from Cats. ❤
The only other one she does is McCavity with Idris Elba. They sound good on it but I hate the song.
You have a great voice too bro
You should react to “Holy Ground” acoustic version from BBC. It’s an upbeat song but she sings it slow and sound even better!!!!
it's soooooo good!
he already has
Oh god he found it
Taylor as a cat in your upper left-hand screen.
Actually taylor swift auditioned for les miserable . She really want to be on broadway.
PPPPLLLEEEAAASSEEEE react to the live performance of Castles Crumbling with Hayley Williams next!
The lyrics & her vocals…hauntingly beautiful ✨

I think she auditioned for the role of Eponine in the Les Mis movie but didn’t get it but her voice does suite that role.
I've never hit play so quickly hahahahha. Oh god, this film. What a bomb. But I the song was nice... but the visuals. Ugh.
Very Broadway of a song and i can't believe i ever enjoyed this ❤
love this song, great reaction!
😊 Great reaction and welcome to the Swiftdom!!!
Beautiful!
So good ❤🎉
I love the TS content - but where is the Chappell Roan content? I think you would love her
I love TS and think this is a beautiful broadway-style song. But when she pronounces it ‘chaunces’… lol. I giggle every time. Whyyyyy
You should do Macaviry!
