It’s about mental health, not gun control
Young folks here learn to hunt and learn respect for firearms. More so here, then some other states I have lived in.
Mental health…
This is what we need to address.
I think what he's trying to say is just make sure nobody has access to your firearms except for you. It's important to teach your children about guns, but never ever allow them free access to any firearms.
in inner cites they don't get them from family though???
If you see a kid who others are mean to, be nice to them. If you see someone eating lunch alone, go join them. Be kind to one another. What a tragedy for all families involved.
Why is it that when a black kid does something bad, no one cares and he should be jailed but when it's a white kid, we need to feel bad for him and feel sorry for him?

So you say all schools don’t need metal detectors? This is a bigger problem and need to be addressed! By now all schools should have metal detectors! This is insane that this is still happening!
Exactly a school that big need a few metal detectors not just one growing up middle schools had metal detectors that's something they should invest praying for the families this is so sad..
Yes, absolutely. A school shooter at my high school killed the superintendent and injured the vice principal- and after the event, literally nothing changed in the HS security system. Nothing. And obviously, yes, metal detectors are expensive, police chief. But that’s why the government needs to allot more funding to our schools. I don’t care where my taxes go, as long as I know part of it is going to an effective cause. Right now, there are schools that can’t even afford good textbooks or materials. I have little faith in the government.

Sure I feel for all the victims, but this is a 15 year old child who has to be disturbed in some way.
He needs psychiatric care and I don't understand why he is in a juvenile detention center. He should be getting the care he needs because when all is said and done, he has to live with what he did and without psychiatric care, he might hurt himself.

Everybody's stressed ,most can't handle.
We keep talking about guns, but when are we gonna start blaming these parents, who're raising these poorly adjusted monsters.
It’s not always an issue of the parents. In many cases bullies are involved. Or it can be something along the lines of girlfriends/ex-girlfriends. Not to mention education/homework stress.
@@GoUtes92 youre right, it’s usually a lack of parents that’s the problem.
maybe if they prosecute the owners of the gun that was used. people need to secure their firearm's. I don't think a 15 year can own a semiautomatic handgun.
@@johnlarson111 I don’t think so either. There are ways around it. If someone wants to hurt other people they will find a way. I do agree, too many parents are careless with their weapons.
@@GoUtes92 it's the combination of parents failing to raise, teach, and discipline their kids, along with schools failing to address bullying. A kid can't even stand up for themselves nowadays without getting suspended or expelled, and telling the teacher likely won't do nothing because they'll just go lecture the bullies and that will only make them bully the victim harder.
Why do reporters ask the same question that has been answered many times. Odd!
My thoughts exactly!!! They don’t really care. They just need a story! It’s sad!!
They’re not allowed to ask the important questions.
media asked almost all question but shooter's name lol
Kid is refusing to speak, and his family had a lawyer for him immediately. IMO - the parents molded this boy, he’s never had consequences, not even now.
Can we just have a solid death penalty for anyone who knowingly and willingly takes the life of someone else??!?! if I was the parents of the shooter I would NOT help him in any way. In fact, If I had a child that did this I would push for the death penalty in all ways legal or not. As a species, we need to take action and remove these people from breeding.
Anger is justified. But it is not going to work...only way you can stop kids from picking a gun and doing this sort of thing is by keeping guns out of reach for most of the people who do not need it. If you consider having gun is everyone's right then you have this problem.
You can't exterminate evil, evil is always gonna be in the world.. also a good parent would think about how they raised their kids to see if they taught them right cause I can tell you right now most parents nowadays don't discipline their kids and don't teach them basic morals, and principles of life. Guns were more available in the past yet there were no school shootings because parents actually raised their kids correctly. The problem isn't always the kids themselves or the guns it's the parents or guardians failing to teach their children reality and the basics of life those are the people that should not have kids..
There were warnings and it’s crazy the school is denying it. They have incentive to deny it so makes sense.
There were alot of signs I heard. Twitter, Facebook post....but I guess those two were too busy looking for vaccine misinformation and voter fraud lies.
This many people die in Chicago every weekend from gunshots. Young and old. Where's the tears for them ?

Every school should have metal detectors regardless of cost.
I work in a school, (in Michigan) and I do agree metal detectors could help. However, who is going to pay for them and the person who has to stand guard at the metal detector? Unfortunately, schools can barely afford supplies anymore. The school down the road has one-to-one technology, smart boards in every classroom, large auditorium, multiple behavior specialists, counselors, nurses, 2 pools...meanwhile my school is unable to spend more than $200 for school supplies per classroom (yes, it takes much more than that for an elementary classroom) let alone a nurse, behavior specialist, counselor, or up-to-date technology. Being a Title I school, we are not allowed to request that parents send in school supplies. That school down the road from me, by the way, teaches students no different than mine, both Title I schools with about 95% students qualifying for free or reduced lunches. There just happens to be more businesses in that area to pay taxes that go toward the school, so they end up getting more money per student. In my opinion, the state should make up this difference. Anyway, yeah, I would feel safer with a metal detector at my school; I just don't know how it would be funded.
@@busyteachermom4353 since they are referring to this as a public health crisis the federal government should fund all of that. They waist billions of dollars on pet programs every year.
That's not targeting the root of the problem which is gun control. Even if a child is having mental health problems, if the child does not have access to guns, then no shooting will happen.
@@pattymaldonado4209 Yeah. I also wish those of us who work with children had more say in getting students more help with mental health. Unfortunately, we can't overstep a parent's wishes. I've seen too many kids go through school without mental/emotional support, falling through the cracks. Many parents are in denial about their child's mental stability until it's too late. And, yes, I also think gun control needs to be targeted. It might not stop all gun violence, but I'm sure it would make a huge difference.
@@pattymaldonado4209 that's a naive way to think. To much gun control would result in a huge black market for guns just like drugs. Over regulation always results in criminal activity to supply a demand.
