    Highly underrated guitar in the SE line..This guitar is a sleeper..ebony fretboard, Mahogany body with a maple cap have that familiar yet defined sound..and yes, the body is much thicker than most PRS/SE. This guitar has been discontinued , but If you can find one I highly recommend picking one up.

      Stumbled upon one on Facebook Marketplace the other day...better believe I just snapped it up.

      Totally agree. I picked one up a few years back and love it. I did change out the pick ups to EMG’s, just a personal preference. I’d put the guitar up against some higher end Gibson Les Pauls. Its that good. The sustain is amazing.

      @@jmar482did you have to do much mods to put EMGs in there? Did it all fit in the cavity ?

    • @jmar482
      @jmar482 6 месяцев назад

      @@mikey-dubs no mods needed. The EMG system is also solderless so it makes it very easy to change out. The system comes with the pots you need though I can’t remember if it was the long or short shaft pots. Cavity had enough room.

      @@jmar482Thanks for the reply! I have been eyeing one of these used and wanted to strap it in with EMGs but you always worry about if the battery will fit etc.!

    I bought one of these about 9 months ago based largely on your review. I love it, thanks!

    The bird inlay on the fretboard is a subtle, but complimentary touch. I'm pretty sure you can pick up any guitar like a First Act and make it sound phenomenal. Looking forward to the album!

    Listened to several cuts of yours & personally, I prefer the sound of this Akesson. Really, really sweet. A subtle unique tone for sure. I want one! Great playing, great tone & melody!

    awesome playing, awesome review. I think I'll get me one of them. I'll have to wait til one pops up used. People that have them, apparently not selling them. must be a keeper. I love the subtle color and ebony board. Also, it looks a bit thicker than a normal PRS singlecut. I like heavy, thick guitars

    I had picked one of the SE Fredrik Åkesson models from my local Guitar Center for a STEAL that was a demo model - after an extremely short polishing job to remove the minor pick scratches, it was for all intents & purposes a New-Old-Stock Guitar. I owned it for all of 3days: when I showed the Better-Half and recited all of its specs, all she had to say was “So which ofyour Basses are you selling to fund this?”, and I knew I was sunk. (To be fair, I *did* break the “Discuss Before Purchasing” rule, and she’s been absolutely more than fair with my huge assortment of various Instruments.)
    It’s probably the *Guitar* that I regret having to give up the most, and after about a year of truly woodshedding, upping my Guitar skills & discovering that I’m at heart a “Sunglecut”-style Guitar Fan and Player, I’d absolutely repurchase one if I came across it. However, as it’s Production Run was pretty short I’d have to have crazy luck to do so, or pay far more above its value as the Sellers on various sites are asking for them. 😥

      I know that feeling, bro. Love this guitar but could never pull the trigger due to the sell one to buy one rule. I'm hoping I can find another one soon as I finally am in a position to potentially get it!

    Very nice review Robert, a PRS fan here; I always wanted to ask you something, and with this guitar review I guess is the opportunity, I think your music has great melodic guitar licks... Are you influenced by Opeth? Do you know them? Thanks for your attention.

      +Martin Lenz Hi Martin, I used to be a big Opeth fan many years ago. I haven't kept up to date with their new music however.

    Awesome review! I'm probably getting this guitar in 2 days and I also like to use .10-.52 set of strings. The nut slot issue you mentioned, how'd you fix it? I don't think the shop here in Bangladesh will be able to do it properly and it would be great if you could provide any tips on how to do it myself.

      @Robertspurling  9 лет назад

      Hey mate, I use Elixir 10-52's. So that's a heavier gauge for the lower strings, and a medium gauge for the lighter strings.

      Robertspurling Thanks a lot ! Maybe next time try them) I use Dean Markley 10-46, but now i think, that need to try 10-52 strings - sounds pretty good :)

    I bought one of these and it proved to be a big mistake. The handle on the gig bag broke after 5 mins use. The pickup pole pieces were not lined up properly with the strings, and after changing both pickups, there was status quo, which would suggest that the pickup routings were done offset from their correct position. The Tone Pros wraparound bridge was not supplied with a wrench to adjust the action, which is impossible to adjust anyway until you have removed all of the strings. The intonation screws are also backwards, making them a nightmare to adjust, since the bridge pickup is in the way. PRS has allowed standards to slip in order to make more money. The brand should have remained 'Made in the USA' only.
