My fav is Black Swan or Louder than Bombs. Black Swan, goes more contemporary, but has a message of the fear of losing their love for music. Louder than Bombs, uses the contrast of their voices to make a beautiful song. It's very cinematic. Be careful of some of the lyric vids. The reason why its called kpop is because its a whole package and a culture. They adopted the western pop/hiphop music and added a lot of their own creating a whole new culture. Its not just the music, the Koreans groups you often see perform their songs with intense choreography as well, which is not really seen in the west. The artists you see go through a period of training that lasts from few months to years before they actually debut. Its a cut throat competition to who gets to debut and even if they do debut, not all groups are able to survive the industry. Many end up disbanding. So all the artists that you hear about from Kpop are the survivors and victors who came through. Its a whole culture and each kpop artist is versatile and talented in a number of areas which may include singing, rapping, dancing, producing, fashion, playing instruments, many go into acting, and almost all of them are bilingual or multilingual in some way (Japanese, Chinese, English, etc. along with Korean). So yeah....by Kpop they don't mean just the music....its a whole entire world of its own tbh.

They have so many different genres that they do. But to start with, Paradise & Love Maze are great group songs that are more on the pop/rnb side. Their song Idol is a staple, but if you watch it, you have to watch the music video. And you should really watch some interviews and vlogs at some point. Another hype one is Baepsae or in english "Silver Spoon". Their personalities are even better than their music. You're bound to love them
FYI, "A to the G to U to the... " that isn't an accident. Suga knows what he is saying. They know about all the english references to things like that. Notice what he says about sending people to Hong Kong... with his ... technology,... going to Hong Kong is a slang for you know, finishing the deed

The one thing u have to understand about k pop is that it has been around since the 90's. Now at the time, a company by the name of SM, (which is still around today, and considered one of the top 3 companies in k pop) their CEO fell in love with American Hip Hop. So much so that k pop is actually based off of it. The CEO decided that they needed help to create a similar sound. So he called the U.S. and tried to find producers that were willing to help them out. He found one that actually went out to Korea to create the k pop sound. Now you might recognize the name I'm about to tell you. U ready, it was non-other than the co-creator of New Jack Swing himself, Teddy Riley. Teddy was out there for several years and produced some of the biggest groups and songs out of Korea. And a lot of k pop and k hip hop artists say that they were very influenced by American artists like Nas, Tupac, Biggie, Snoop..hell Snoop has done a song with Psy as well as BTS. Drake is trying to figure out schedules. And it's just been announced that Pharrell Williams and one of the members, RM are doing a collab together. And that is on top of his collab with Wale, as well as Fall Out Boy and others. So you see very influenced... Since you've listened to a only rap line song, the first one I recommend is a vocal line only song, the second one I recommend is a group song and the last two i recommend are solo songs for the rest of the rap line. Suga is quiet off stage but in his raps he expeesses all his right and feelings about everything from haters to his battles with his mental health & ego. His flow switchups are hard to beat. But in case no one has mentioned it yet, RM's "Joke" is one fav solo. Because he speaks the best English, his wordplay, rhymes, metaphors are fire. If you clock the lyrics in Joke, you'll see what I mean.... But welcome to the rabbit hole of "kpop". The genre blending (hiphop, r&b, rap, pop, etc) started in the early 90s so there's a LOT to discover. Though korea has some amazing non kpop idol artists (like r&b, rap, hip hop). Kpop includes not just the music, but the clothes, the makeup, the choreography…all these elements I think sort of amalgamate together in a visual and auditory content package, that I think sets it apart from other music or maybe other genres so again, as I said, rather than approach Kpop as it’s own genre I think approaching it as this integration of different content would be better."
Also, Suga gets his name from his favorite basketball position (shooting guard), so in that context, it's pronounced similarly to sugar. HOWEVER, the people saying it's pronounced 'Syoo-ga' are also correct, because that's the closest pronunciation to it's Korean spelling (슈가). AgustD is Suga reversed, but also references his hometown (Daegu Town SUGA).
Now that's what I call, " a stone cold sweat ". These guys, make people, actually have noticeable physical reactions, that the reactors, were DEFINITELY NOT EXPECTING! At the end of the video there are so many types of reactions,: thirsty..very very thirsty, sweating, goosebumps, exhaling only when they start turning blue after MV concluded , eyes wide or with tears streaming, it really hits different with each creator, but they hit hard , no matter who you are, or what vibe they shook you hard with. Really hard.
I recommend On: Kinetic Manifesto, Dope, No More Dream (their 2013 debut release), Fire, Not Today. A few solo projects: Singularity by V, Daechwita by Agust D, Joke by RM, Chicken Noodle Soup by J-Hope, The Astronaut by Jin, Stay Alive by Jungkook, and Serendipity by Jimin. But I'd hold off calling yourself ARMY until you watch some documentaries and explanation videos. When you learn more about them as people and what they've been through and how they are still so kind and funny is when you REALLY feel like an ARMY. They are amazing people. But I like your enthusiasm. Keep going.

They have so many different genres that they do. But to start with, Paradise & Love Maze are great group songs that are more on the pop/rnb side. Their song Idol is a staple, but if you watch it, you have to watch the music video. And you should really watch some interviews and vlogs at some point. Another hype one is Baepsae or in english "Silver Spoon". Their personalities are even better than their music. You're bound to love them
FYI, "A to the G to U to the... " that isn't an accident. Suga knows what he is saying. They know about all the english references to things like that. Notice what he says about sending people to Hong Kong... with his ... technology,... going to Hong Kong is a slang for you know, finishing the deed

The one thing u have to understand about k pop is that it has been around since the 90's. Now at the time, a company by the name of SM, (which is still around today, and considered one of the top 3 companies in k pop) their CEO fell in love with American Hip Hop. So much so that k pop is actually based off of it. The CEO decided that they needed help to create a similar sound. So he called the U.S. and tried to find producers that were willing to help them out. He found one that actually went out to Korea to create the k pop sound. Now you might recognize the name I'm about to tell you. U ready, it was non-other than the co-creator of New Jack Swing himself, Teddy Riley. Teddy was out there for several years and produced some of the biggest groups and songs out of Korea. And a lot of k pop and k hip hop artists say that they were very influenced by American artists like Nas, Tupac, Biggie, Snoop..hell Snoop has done a song with Psy as well as BTS. Drake is trying to figure out schedules. And it's just been announced that Pharrell Williams and one of the members, RM are doing a collab together. And that is on top of his collab with Wale, as well as Fall Out Boy and others. So you see very influenced...

For group songs - a lot of their older stuff is hip hop: No More Dream, We Are Bulletproof Pt2, Spine Breaker, Jump, Second Grade, Silver Spoon are all good choices (only the first two have MVs). For newer stuff with the same kind of powerful energy try: Not Today, Anpanman, IDOL, Dionysus, ON (Kinetic Manifesto version for the MV).
