    LOL a Nissan dealer just quoted me $400 to change out that engine torque mount! I'm off to buy the part myself and a $20 breaker bar.

  • @Revitauto
    @Revitauto  8 лет назад +12

    +Susie Stewart you can replace the part as shown in the video without supporting the engine.
    The mount you are replacing does not hold the engine up. It helps resist the motion of the engine rocking backwards and forwards as the gas pedal is depressed.
    The mount directly underneath the one replaced in the video does require additional support to replaced it.
    Happy Motoring!

    I bought this part at Auto parts warehouse last week for $22.00, and I just installed right now. I needed a breaker bar to get the 18 mm sockets off, but I sprayed WD 40 in advance on the bolts, but I got confused which side is the right side to mount because there is no real distinction, so I noticed the top of the torque mount has a longer piece of metal on it that goes on the top not the bottom according to this video. I have worked or cars a lot past 20 years here and there, and I notices with a half inch wrench the bolts did not want to come off easily, so I think they bolts should be tight, but I don't know the foot pounds would be nice took 5 minutes and no lifting the engine thank God Good luck all you tubers.

    Had a Menikie shop just quote me $334 for the top and bottom mount I brought it in because I thought it was something with the front end or axle. I timed you from start to finish. About 3 Minutes 13 seconds WTF Menikie. Its going to take me longer to set up the jack and get my tools out than to fix both mounts All the parts on Amazon $54. THANK YOU FOR MAKING THE VIDEO!!

    • @Revitauto
      @Revitauto  2 года назад +1

      Don’t get to upset with the shop! If we were to do this job we would charge roughly the same price as them. We can’t buy our parts from online and have lots of overhead as shop owners.
      The reason I make these videos is for people looking to save money! :) I am glad it helped! I just didn’t want you getting too mad at the shop!
      We are mobile techs we have a site fee and a minimum labor fee. So it would have been 220 for travel time and labor and then the cost of the part from Worldpac or Carquest. I just wanted to mention that

    • @greggo502
      @greggo502 2 года назад

      @@Revitauto Hello and Thank You for that quick reply! I totally get that a shop has overhead and lots of other fees. I just thought the price was high considering the time it takes to do the job. I understand the shops go by a hourly book some jobs more time some less I get it. But between the 2 videos I saw this looks like a fairly easy job compared to most . Minus the part( lets say from Napa. ) I still think it was on the high side. If the shop qouted me say $150 labor I would have just given them the job. I sincerely thank you for your video and quick reply. Take Care. Greg. Lol and no I'm not made at the shop.

    I just spent a couple of hundred dollars and 7 hours at a garage trying to figure out what was causing a rattling noise when going over rough road (which in New York City is 90% of all road). Of course...after replacing sway arms, strut mounts, doing the brakes because why not while you're in there...we realized it was after cracked motor mount. jeez I wish I saw this video before this morning.

    • @Revitauto
      @Revitauto  8 лет назад +2

      Hi Deej, I am sorry to hear about your added expense and time spent on your car. It can be challenging to locate a noise in your car. Next time, ask a the shop that you are taking your car too if they have "Chasis Ears" It is a device that has sensors that act as listen devices, you can place them in various locations and test drive the vehicle to find the approximate area of the noise and diagnose from there. Happy Motoring!

    There are two of these. This one, on top and easy to swap, is one. The second one is on the bottom of the engine. I decided to just replace the top , easy, one & skip the lower one, underneath the engine that is difficult to remove. Well, my new upper one did not live 8 months when it tore. If you are considering this, take it to an Asian car shop where they can replace both. Peace.

    I definitely need to replace the torque mount. But I'm wondering if the issue I'm currently having is a result of the worn out mount. Currently, my car's engine shakes when idling in drive or when I take off from idling at a light. In neutral, the shaking is less apparent. My question to you is, is this a result from the torque mount?

    • @Revitauto
      @Revitauto  3 года назад

      Hey Omar, it could be a bunch of things that are occurring it is really important to have all your mounts checked, if one fails it puts more stress on the others to do the work! It is possible that you have multiple mounts that are in failure.

    • @Revitauto

      Hi Aria, make sure that you are trying to turn the bolt counter clockwise.(to the left). Removing car parts is all about leverage. You can use a pipe to go over the breaker bar to help you. It is possible that the bolt will pull threads off as it is removed. This is extremely rare, most of the time it takes a good amount of force to break loose and comes off easily after. Please keep us posted on your success.
      Happy Motoring!!

    • @Revitauto
      @Revitauto  4 года назад

      How did they snap? Was it when trying to remove? Or did you cross the threads on installation?

    • @rj5795
      @rj5795 4 года назад

      @@Revitauto I over tighten and heard a snap and now it's free spinning. From my exp. That sounds like a bolt snapping

    Could a broken motor mount make u lose power in ur car

    • @Revitauto
      @Revitauto  3 года назад

      Not directly no, motor mounts and engine and transmission efficiency are not directly related, you can cause physical damage to the other mounts and it could be a problem with drive line angles. But you most likely have other issues to address on top of the motor mount.

    Where would be the best place to get the part?

    • @Revitauto
      @Revitauto  4 года назад +1

      You can order it offline at a lower cost, or go to advance auto and order online to get 20 to 25 percent off!

    Our neighbors Nissan Versa needs new motor mounts, it’s a 2013 and the shop gave her a quote of $825. Can someone tell me if that’s fair?

      Sonny Burnett shoot us an email with the copy of the invoice and I’ll take a look!
