Have you used on electric guitar at all? What are your thoughts on other sources? Snare? Thx!

It can definitely be cool to make an electric guitar more aggressive when needed. Snare is awesome as well! I use it on those sources in the full review here if you want to check it out: ruclips.net/video/ZlGGAitZuBA/видео.html

Random question, what mic does it sound like to you on switchfoot’s meant to live?
I was gravitating toward a 251 ish mic and now I’m wondering if it was a u47 on that track.
It’s fairly warm and thick but they emphasized the silibance and makes me wonder what kind of kid would get me close to that.
I love the sound of a vocal kind of “in” the mix , seemingly within the guitars, and letting the guitars cut much more. This track does it how I hear it in my head . I’m wondering if it’s more of a 47 or a 251. It doesn’t seemed choked on the highs but that could also be production and engineering boosting at times .
I’m really tryna figure out what direction to take , that vocal sound is a sound Iv had in my mind and just realized that switchfoot song Kinda does it .
It’s a fairy silibant sound and idk if you can even pull out that much silibance if it’s not already fairly silibant of a mic , maybe they boosted those frequencies? Seems like the same mic in “dare you to move” but in “meant to live” there is a constant zingy silibance that works really nice against the huge guitars . I’m tryna figure this out!

I absolutely love that Switchfoot era of the Beautiful Let Down and Nothing is Sound. So many songs on there that really influenced me as a mix engineer! I feel like I remember watching a DVD that came with one of those albums and Jon was singing into something I didn't expect.....a Rode Classic! Don't hold me to that...but that's the best I can jog my memory on it 😁
If I am remembering correctly, that would explain that extra bit of top end you can hear on those tracks as that's sort of a Rode signature. It doesn't work for a lot of singers but when it's the right fit they can be pretty great mics!
The Bluey can definitely help cut through as well as it saturates the highs in this really cool way to help them stand out. Anyway, it's great to talk shop with a fellow Switchfoot fan, I hope that's helpful info!

Oh wow that’s really interesting I’m gonna have to look into this, thanks a lot for this info!
I just checked some recent live songs from the main singer. A song named terminal, so good! It’s an acoustic version on his channel worth a cello. I’m starting to realize how great and consistent of a songwriter he is .
Hope all is well thank you

I checked a few videos on the classic, I used to look into this mic and now I remember how nice it sounds . Do you remember if the video had the black rode II classic or the grey original? You might be on to something . The original is a bit smoother it seems. But it’s a really enjoyable sound I find .

@@heythere6983 I believe it was the original grey one. I need to look through my old CDs and see if I can find the video that came with it, I think it was a deluxe edition(CD on one side, DVD on the other).

Yeah 7-10 db of gain reduction seems to be the magic range on the Bluey. I'm glad you'r enjoying yours as well!
