It was the coolest album cover I'd ever seen, until I saw "Indecent and Obscene" after I had gotten into them. Great band, great death metal band. They've always been one of my favorites along with Obituary, Death, Pungent Stench, and Cannibal Corpse. Thanks for putting this up man.

I've been to so many shows but never had the chance or privilege to see DISMEMBER tear it up on stage, watching this made me a little sad thinking about it.
The first album with Matti and Fred before Dismember... Carnage. The very first death metal cassette I ever bought. Have the CD and album as well. Best fucking purchase I ever made!!!🤘🤘🤘
lol at people thinking this is the "gothenburg" sound...this is the Stockholm sound...the gothenburg bands came later and are much more melodic and less heavy.
Good point. This is why Dismember & Nihilist/Entombed are super badass and important bands. They shoulder the whole burden of representing Stockholm sound. Can't even name a third band. Desultory maybe?
@InJesperWeTrust Yes, it might make sense, but if we think of At the Gates and Dismember, there is only one year between the both bands' debut albums. So I'm not so sure if it's valid enough or not.
I like their way of describing themselves. How they at the end of the day are too just like us, a bunch of casual dudes wanting to enjoy some fucking Heavy Metal and party. That is the energy that only the absolute best bands have and it shows when the thing Dismember comments on with modern bands doing everything super computer edited and shit. In my opinion it is fine to record on computer and if you can't afford it vst drums are more than fine, but my line is drawn when you start to edit out mistakes and polish everything a ton into oblivion with a bunch of edits. It is all the more noticable in modern Death Metal as well, and even if you present me with an example of a modern Death Metal band that didn't edit the guitars and acoustic drums to shit it would still sound "fabricated" because the way modern mixing is done just takes away all the grit and grime of the amp and overall feel to me. So yes, I do love a ton of modern Metal, but my favorites will always be the raw, and pure fucking Death Metal bands.
@@h.k.295 I like some American Death Metal but I'm no huge fan of the "Florida sound". Too clean-sounding for my taste but yeah there are some really good things coming out of USA, yep. The first two Obituary albums come to mind and also Deicide's first two albums are solid stuff.

I saw dismember in 1994 or something in pumpehuset (in denmark) with konkhra (danish band) opening. I think is was mistake that band gave up, cause this was the case. Dismember was and still is, powerful band and I am sure they would be able to pull through it and go even more up like in best days! Metallica had quite long period of lower success in ST Anger, Load, Reload period, but they pulled it together and now they shine more than ever! Its shame cause they build up this brand Dismember which sells merchandise, which have thousands od fans troughout the world ...Someone who LOVE music he/she play, would never give up, there are so many bands that they are well beyond their 50´s who are doing so good, it was foolish to dismember the Dismember! What they did lack is discipline, bands like Cannibal Corpse are band that had and still have really long tours. Only way to stay sane, in shape and keep fire of entusisasm and love for music is to have discipline and keep balance, plus not overdo partying, its good to be open to fans and people in general but Dismember didnt have healthy distance here and they mixed too much with people with no vision in life, without purpose. +Zoran Kamenicki I don't think Metallica is a great example of a long-running band staying strong, but I agree that this band has a fire that absolutely return.
+Zoran Kamenicki I dont see metallica shining. perhaps I'm not looking but they seem spoiled with too many choices and too much time to overthink what they're doing. But as time goes on tho, Dismember may indeed have a reignited fire but if they dont, their legacy is still very much more enjoyable than Cannibal Corpse and 99% of the other bullshit out there( not saying CC is bs, I do like them). life is life, and as it goes on we can still listen to the awesome library they've created, over and over.
Totally, they're a perfect example of a true and consistent death metal band and I wish they got as much fame and success as Entombed and Morbid Angel. Metallica was amazing in their glory days and Cannibal Corpse definitely earned their fame although to me like you said they're not top tier.
+Georginsky2000 well the guys in CC are cool and lifetime metalheads but if you hear Hammer Smashed Face you've heard'em all by them for the most part.
