What do you mean? If rook takes rook with check, MVL is taking back with the pawn, and there will be still a hanging rook in C8, for the knight.. Or if black takes rook with knight, white knight takes rook as well 🤔
Two Knights Variation always brings me back to 1959 and Cancidates Tournament in Yugoslavia, but also in 1960's when Fischer played this variation along Exchange Variation in order to exercise his painstaking study of old masters... And Dreev always looked as a shrewd club player with a tooth-pick in his mouth playing around with young studs full of Chess Encyslopaedia "knowledge". When MVL played Ne7, perhaps he thought it was a trap, who knows, but if the Black played ...Nxc4, White wouldn't have won with Nxc8+ - it would have been an equal position. Instead of Ne7, MVL had to exchange all rooks and then it would be dead draw position. But he overlooked ...Rxc4+! - not "taking an exchange" - which gives black king time to capture Ne7 and win a piece. This overlook can be easily explained: in calculation white forgot change in the position - closing c-file - which enables black to capture Ne7.
Well done Dreev, still able to keep up with the young guns
Dreev gave MVL an oldschool beatdown
9:40 blunder error from Vachier. Dreev strong player!!!
