For years I've been looking for a good weather mod that isn't just "And then we added tornados that fuck shit up and happen a lot" and this is finally it. This looks so damn gorgeous. I will be following to see more in the future and loving every step of the way. Keep up this phenomenal work! Now all that's left is to find a 'fog' mod of a similar aesthetic for early morning lake fog, fogy mountains, and ways to force it into builds with a block or something. 👀
@@user-ne9sd4ow1o I mostly just wish there was a way to have it again in specific cases. I love using distant horizons to have an entire world to view from afar, but I would like some misty and foggy areas still.
SAME! I absolutly love this kind of weather and seeing this in minecraft made me jump from my chair. Thats how good it looks! Can't wait to see the finished project, adding the ability to use shaders with this mod gonna be even better! I subbed. ❤
I have always wanted a mod like this in Minecraft for years and years, and here it is. My dream came true. I was scared it wasn’t possible because maybe I was a bit too much of a nerd with clouds, but I guess some people are on the same page as me, lmao.
Great mod with an excellent idea to implement realistic weather in Minecraft. Here are some suggestions for improvement: Rain wall: it would be nice to see the boundary of the rain area before it reaches the player. Dull sound before the rain: it would be great to hear the rain approaching from a short distance. Lightning strike logic: it would be nice if lightning mainly struck high points on the map and less often in lower areas. It would also be interesting to see lightning divided into classes (cloud-to-cloud, cloud-to-ground). Complete structure of the thunderstorm anvil.
It'd be nice if there was an option for the voxels that appear and disappear as the clouds move to do so by fading slowly in and out. Also if the clouds have an outer layer that is a bit transparent I think it would add a lot of atmosphere. This is already unfathomably cool
Dude, I've always been a huge fan of severe weather since I was a child and I remember dreaming about having gorgeous thunderstorms in Minecraft. You just mde my dream come true dude
Maybe you should scale down a bit the sizes of wether regions, I mean, maybe they are of a realistic size now but for the game it should be all smaller... But I love how the storms appear, the shape is very realistic I love it! You can also try making storms color lighter when seen from the outside or in the distance, that would be even more realistic!❤

I love the idea of this! I think the main thing that trips me out is the clouds seem very solid and close, maybe even everything is too... blocky? maybe its a lack of shadows or something, but I feel like more transparent and pixelated weather would fit in more. Still a remarkable mod by the looks of it.
As someone who watched the mod creator make this mod, there is a lot thats planned for the future and it's quite exciting. And yes, Distant Horizons compat is planned. As well as natural disasters
since (iirc) it's made by the same guy who made the witherstorm mod, I wonder if he will make it so there is always a thunderstorm around the wither storm?
Really awesome looking mod! I have been looking for a mod that does weather exactly like this!!!! Going to test this with distant horizons right now!!!
now this just needs to be compatible with the Witherstorm mod, like imagine. A giant looming cloud above you that slowly grows thicker and darker the closer it gets towards you, intensifying until you hit the middle, where it seems calm until a giant black, moving mass comes into view, a thing sends you into a panic and just as you try to escape, it pick you up and consumes you.
I would love this to be able to be switched with volumetric clouds in a shader and Distant horizons. I absolutely love it when video games have storms that come in like real storms.
Now just add weather events that can be changed in settings. If you live near an ocean, copper oxidises faster the closer you get and drowned spawn more frequently than zombies, and you have a chance to encounter hurricanes or typhoons (that can be toggled like for mob spawning) areas more flat allow more farming but at the cost of tornadoes or cyclonic storms. (like the hurricane those can be disabled if people just want to see normal weather.) Never forget the many other weather events like sparks, green hue or light changing the color of clouds, I'm not a weather expert but I'd say theres many more aspects that could be added in a mod like this, perhaps add the disaster events as an addon/branch off.
you could maybe use one of the forge ports of the iris shader to add shaders? Its called oculus if im not mistaken. There you can also use other fabric-ish perfomance improvements (like sodium) but in forge.
Just looked for the name, it's called SuperFancyClouds Rearchitected, available for forge and fabric, for some versions between 1.16.5 to 1.20.1 Keep in mind that the mod showcased here looks better and probably runs better too, the only real similarity is how the clouds are built and move.
Is the mod compatible with resourcepacks like Rainy day and TWG Thunder? (1. Makes rain look slightly realistic and sounds too, and the other makes thunder sound realistic (altough, from just watching the video, I can see that the mod already has a realistic thunder... And realistic rain... The texture is still vanilla though... Long dark blue lines...)) Awesome mod tho, it looks very cool
The mod author stated on his github that he is looking into making this mod compatible with Distant Horizons and also add better compatibility with shaders (the current implementation is very bare-bones. it works but it has several missing parts).
Would be cool if it were dark enough to spawn mobs but unfortunately the light level needed is zero. So no mobs can spawn during a storm, but that would be kind of cool though if they did like at a small pace. Like not many. So it's a little dangerous
Now this just needs to be compatible with distant horizons
I think it is, it's from the same guy that made the witherstorm mod and that works
You know just wondering is a ryzen 5 5600G with a radeon rx 7600 gonna stand a chance with distant horizons and simple clouds or is it gonna explode?

next thing you know their gonna add supercells, mesocyclones, and tornadoes and weather2 gonna have to try and compete.

Only a matter of time now.

A superflatworld like that is pure nightmare fuel when you see such a storm coming
Reminds me of the cube world clouds. Love it!
This is so cool! As a weather nerd myself this is a good depiction of a shelf cloud in Minecraft.

Yeah
This, combined with the localized weather mod would be fuckin amazing...
It would be neat if villagers would enter their houses when the storm is approaches or it is already there
I think it's already there.
