Excellent tutorial. My then new 1981 Cessna Cutlass 172RG had a constant speed prop and I loved it versus the fixed pitch prop performance of other general aviation aircraft I flew back then, but never really understood the 'magic' of the constant speed prop until watching this video. Also, thank heavens you guys haven't bailed out on FSX like M$ did. Each new A2A innovation keeps FSX fresh. Keep 'em coming!
he's right its a real incite into how a good pilot worked a spitfire to get the maximum out of his aircraft, I have this simulator and it's a real joy to fly and get that understanding of how the ww2 pilot flew in regards to management of there airframe,motor,prop
I can't describe how enjoyable this was to watch! . I hope the next step for A2A will be to hook up an external flight model to replace the FSX's quirky one.
well finally someone is paying attention to those details. now I just wish you guys made some ga aircraft, at least some classic gas. like the cessna 195 etc.
@mickellemastra with a constant speed prop - no, you set the climb settings and leave it till cruise then adjust again, if it's manual variable then yes and to whatever rpm gives best performance for that stage of flight, if it's fixed pitch, you adjust power to maintain rpm within limits.
If only xplane,fsx(aces),a2a,and rex devs got together and made a flight sim... I can't describe how awesome that would be so I'll just stop here and dream.
unless its an early MKI which had the flat flush canopy as can be used in the A2A Spitfire alongside the slight bubble one which inturn is different to the later Mark canopy
So using constant speed props do we have to reduce the pich in dives and increase it at climbs? And how much? And during a dogfight do we have to play all the time with the prop-pich?
Hey quick question: I downloaded it and I installed the spitfire, it has no textures, no sound, the gauges dont work, and it is basically unflyable.... Do I need to have wings of power 3 installed?
@kristenburnout1 That's really disappointing I wish A2A do a stand-alone game like il-2 sturmovik with dogfights and stuff, I know there is Battle of Britain II “Wings of Victory” and I do have it but a bigger campaign would be more appreciated, I also got FSX but I won't likelly buy an expansion. Thanks for the answer anyway
He explained airfoils wrong. They don't use Bernoulli's principle of speed inversely proportional to pressure. They use Newton's third law of motion. They brute force themselves into the air.
+enrique3402 Actually, you are wrong. Both Newtonian and Bernoullian mechanics apply, both describe the exact same thing in moderately different wording.
This is ridiculously good information. Funny how a video about a sim aircraft happens to be one of the best videos on propellers on RUclips.

PLEASE make more videos like this, of ALL the aircraft you made and are making, it's just THAT awesome to watch such a RICH preview-review.
I can't describe how enjoyable this was to watch!
.

There's Polish Air Force Spitfire in RAF with 111th "Kosciuszko" Squadron and Pluto on the engine cover at around 1:10. Some piece of history!
well finally someone is paying attention to those details. now I just wish you guys made some ga aircraft, at least some classic gas. like the cessna 195 etc.
Well done A2A!!!!! This is very instructive even for experienced flightsim pilots!
Spot on. Fantastic. I wish I hadn't sold my FSX but this is enough for me to get it back.
An excellent video for student pilots transitioning to complex aircraft! Thanks Shockwave!
So much love put into these videos :)
You may have convinced me to buy this! I have a feeling this will be in my FSX folder soon!
Absolutely fantastic. I have this plane and words cannot describe the experience. I also have a video of the Spit on my channel.
Can't wait for this and P-51!!
How do you slow it down that much??? So you can even see the shadow of the blades! Awesome plane, cant wait to buy it!

Great video, lots to learn and an amazing simulation.

love your planes
Excellent!
A2A have really done their homework.
I hope more tire tread patterns are addressed in a patch
The canopy on the spitfire is the rounded one and on hurricane is the the more flatter canopy
Wow, just for a moment I was back in the '1921 squadron' ATC in 1966!
Awesome video Scott!
The 111th Squadron here in RAF is actually 303rd Squadron.

Great video!
I'd love it if you guys made a 109F-4 or something.

it's the best for simulation
How heavy is this for a computer? Did the real life pilots use MAP/RPM charts? I cant see any in the a2a flight manuals.
@ThreeSevenSpeedway Miles!? Galaxy's ahead!!
Superb! :)
Any chances of A2A cooperation with Eagle Dynamics making an addon for DCS World?
@Lazengogh
it is very FPS friendy :P

@RainbowManification
Hehe. At the time of your posting it was already released for 8 hour or so.
ok so i just bought this yesterday and i was priming it and flipping all the switches and i cant hear any of the sound from the switches why
Is this a stand-alone game or is it an expansion for FSX ???
Does this support TrackIR?
You got my + for the 303 logo in 1:10 :D
Oh my god !
spitfire with Malcolm hood canopy is sexy
and it also wont let me change my prop when im parked and enigne off
Me neither.
@RainbowManification hahah. This comment had me laughing quite audibly.
Nice strategy to sell another addon
@EmperorDozed Expansion :)

@ShaggyParent12 By miles better.
ahahahah....true
@RainbowManification Hahahaha, nce
