However, Ming the Merciless has other plans for them. Universal's 1940, and final entry into the Buster Crabbe, Flash Gordon serials.
Could you please do Flash Gordon Trip to Mars next. 🙏
Working on that one. We'll have to see what RUclips allows.
Thank you for bringing these online. I love Buster Crabbe serials as I used to watch them with my grandad on Saturday Morning TV in Britain. We LOVED these.
My pleasure! I'm glad it's bringing back fond memories for you!
Seen this soo many times but this print is stellar!!!👍
🎵 Flash! AAAAHHHH!! Savior of the universe! 🎵 🚀🚀🚀🚀⚡⚡⚡⚡
That's a Flash of a different decade. 😁
Simply fabulous serial would be great to have a full and complete upload of the flash Gordon's trippy Mars serial
Working on that. We'll see what the RUclips gods allow.
Thanks look forward to seeing that one as always great to see these classics back so much better to the so called blockbuster film Hollywood does theses days &t always "borrow " the storyline and plots from the old serials
I remember watching these serials when I was young. Seems to me I saw the one where Ming was extracting something from Earth's atmosphere causing all sorts of havoc. Seems like that was the first but I don't really recall.
This was the first serial I ever saw. I watched the whole thing on my cellular phone while I was at work when I was working 12 hours a day 6 days a week in the army. Now I have it on super 8. One of my favorites.
The whole thing on Super8? Thats a lot of reels of film!
I'm actually not sure if it's the whole thing because both of my projectors decided to stop working before I had the chance to watch it and I don't have enough spare money to buy another one. The box doesn't say how many chapters it includes but it's only 4 7" reels so I'm guessing it's about half.
@@JimMorrisonsBathtub it might be the edited 90 minute "feature" version.
I didn't know that was a thing but that seems very likely. I held the last reel up to a light to see where it started from and it didn't have an opening crawl which kind of confused me. Disappointing but it's still cool to have.
Flash was a TV show but in serial style. Serials were Saturday Matinee affairs. A cartoon, a serial and a dbl feature. Over 400 movie serials were made!!!!!!
This particular one was a Serial that showed in movie theaters in 1940. In the 1950s there was a Flash Gordon television series.
@@AtomicAgePictures Thanks. Did not know that!
I love the unconventional story structure beginning after the plot had already begun to unfold, then catching the viewer up as it goes along. They handled it pretty well, too.
I love capes. They WILL make a comeback.
"NO CAPES!"

Those rocket ships sure pour out a lot of sparks and smoke.
Those Robin Hood costumes are hilarious and Buster first looked like he belonged in some silly Italian opera.
The sets were great.
Ming doesn’t want much - just power over the universe.
Apparently by then the comic strip had adopted a similar style with the Robin Hood Type hats and whatnot, so the serial followed suit. Not exactly sure why or how it happened.
Best of the series. Love the Sgt. Pepper uniforms. Ming never looked so good.

How can grown men say those lines with a straight face? Yes, I know it's called "acting," but still . . . .
It was also 1940. Movies were a bit more "theatrical " then.
