How’d you 2 *not* know about Rain-X?? Perfect on that huge glass. Now You Know! Also, I’ve seen super extreme winter conditions, where most car stopped on the freeways, scraping their windshield, just to see something…my windshield was perfect.
Just today I heard CT has a wiper motor recall. Thought at first that was going to be covered… sounds pretty minor, but be curious to hear what you experience.
I would be curious as to what the wipers would do with using RainX on the windshield? I use that here in Maine and it works really well. And no I don't have the cyber truck just a regular windshield.
I’ve been happy with the wiper in the rain. But I hate trying to use the wiper fluid. It barely sprays anything and most of the fluid lands above the wiper path and cleans nearly nothing. Hope i can find a fix for it.
I find the wiper a little aggressive for my liking (I've had mine for almost a month). But then, I do prefer to do some solid RainX and use wipers sparingly.
Great learning experience. It can rain hard here in Australia so good to know if you don't have to use them that often. Just have to wait for our trucks to arrive in RHD. Keep smiling everyone
Mercedes had a Single Wiper in 90s and 2000s - it extended during it's travel in the corner. Wonder if Tesla could add something like this to the CyberWiper.
Hey Jessie, I’ve been watching you guys since 2019 ish you guys are great. Im sure this is crossing the line, but it’s coming from love. I’ve seen you progressively get heavier and heavier, and I hope you can do some research on the endocrine system, diet and weightlifting
Great video, answered a lot of questions I had. I think Tesla is missing an opportunity that they can EASILY fix with software. One button press to bring up menu. Long hold press to do the cleaner. What they are missing is a 2 button press to activate your chosen default mode. If I had a cybertruck I would make my 2 button press turn it to auto. Which is exactly how I use my current car. I leave the wipers off and then when rain comes I turn on the auto wipers and the car does the rest. I don't leave the auto wipers on because you get false positives in the summer with a mist or other scenarios.
yep, I’ve now waited seven weeks since receiving my VIN, first it was train delays out of Texas, and now the wiper motor recall, supposed to finally get the truck June 26, crossing my fingers.
I like the different speeds, but the auto is buggy like on our Y. Don't use it. Love the way it works overall. Have you noticed the reverse guide lines disappear if you move faster than a turtle in reverse? That's an aggravating problem.
Have you guys considered adding RainX to the windshield? I use it on my car and really like it, might be an interesting thing to compare.. Edit: heard mention of RainX after watching further.
It amazes me how so many Tesla drivers never seem to use the voice command feature and want buttons. Tsk tsk stop resisting the future. When Tesla puts Grok into their cars the buttons might go away completely... leaving screen touch only as a backup. I'm hoping the car will always be listening for a command. "Grok wipers on level 2" would get done what you want. I'm actually surprised that even right now we have to push a button in a Tesla instead of using a keyword to get the VC system to listen. Tesla should have implemented this already. I know that it now has to use the internet connection to figure out what commands you said. Onboarding Grok might get around that?? At least Tesla should hardcode some commands given a specific syntax so we don't have to worry about being in cell range to get basic commands to work. Come on Tesla you know it's coming... why not roll out its precursor now "Hey Tesla" or "Hey " to get everyone used to it??
Here I notice the auto wipers are not sensitive enough to get wiping, and then once they start their control hunts from too fast to too slow. (need to lower the setpoint to start widen the proportional band).
I want a feature request for the wash mode. The way it works now, the washer fluid spends near zero time on the windshield. So it can't dissolve anything significant. Tesla needs to add a soak mode to the washer, where it sprays on the way down and leaves it there for a few seconds, or until you ask for it to be wiped away. That way it can stay wet and dissolve bugs or other crud during dry times. The wash mode is nearly useless as it is. Give it a try with some water soloable glass paint some time, or park under some pigeon roosts some evening. ;)
This will likely be redesigned for Gen 2 CT imo (possibly closer to resemble the Semi, where the single wiper motor is centrally located on the lower portion of the windshield (w/the L shaped arm resting on the passenger side) 🤔.
That won't work for this screen as it would leave too much uncleared screen in the upper corners, so it would not comply with current safety regulations. In the Semi the driver is central and also does not need to see through the upper screen corners probably ever.
Hi Z & J, I live in California and we haven't had much rain (none since I bought the CT). But I had to ask Tesla to replace my windshield wiper blade because it was leaving a trail of marks in the center of the windshield when I used it. Anyone else had similar issue?
The replacement blade is obviously only available from Tesla. My question is: Is it a silicon wiper blade? These kinds of blades are WAY better than the standard blade materials.
While Rain-X does help rain water to blow off the screen while driving, it does have one downfall. In cities, or areas where there are lots of lights at night, the rain water beads create significant glare and in light rain can even make the screen impossible to see through. I used Rain-X on my rally cars where it helped removed the muck as well as the water, but will never use it again on my road cars that get driven at night in lighted areas. So, it's great in the country but horrible in town at night.
You just have to go sufficiently fast. Small airplanes do not have windshield wipers. The air will push the rain off the windshield.😉 The windshield wiper on the CT seems fine. Contrary to reports it works fine for the passenger as well. work. I like the one wiper - it is a more calm than two wipers.
Future Cybertruck owner, it looks like it might be better if it went side to side. It would not have that rain left at the bottom of the window. My wife, who normally is the passenger noticed the amount of window that did not get wiped when we watched them driving it around in the mud and dirt.
@@usa-ev visually I see it still vertically on the drivers side, it would move side to side as the arm telescopes out and then retracts back. Something like that.
@@fancycavegaming620 And what should be different in rain besides that the roads become much more slippery? It all depends on your tires. Tesla recommends Pirelli. Sound good. Currently i do not find any 285/65 R20 in Europe.
This is not such a stupid topic. I I drive multiple work vehicles numerous hours a week, my wife has a Toyota, we have a chevy Bolt, and Model y in the picture. Every time I get into a car these days I have to think twice about the wiper functions. Nobody is 100% intuitive in my world. This was good info though specific to the CT regarding the effectiveness of the giga-wipe.
You can add an icon to the toolbar for wipers. Even though I am very familiar and use the button on the wheel, I like having a permanent button on the toolbar.
Make sure water is not getting into the body where the wiper motor arms protrude through the body to attach to the arm, another youtuber has noticed that water leaks through that area of the body and down under the frunk housing.
Time for some rainX to treat the windows so water beads off with the slightest of wind. My 2014 220,000 mile Tundra has been treated quite a bit and water just beads off and I rarely use the wipers unless it pours...............
In Canada 🇨🇦 I find Auto to be too fast - typically set to 2/3 on average rainy days - plus on Model 3 & Model Y tends to be a great target for any vehicle in front to deposit road water from tires onto windshield. Prob a lot to do with the aerodynamic shape of the car. Tesla needs to focus on the software for the wiper system - make its speed variable ( adjustable ) in finer steps so that it can be linked to a drivers profile. Cheers
Hopefully we can see a video of the blade and windshield in action a a day with pouring. It seems that if there were a lot of rain, the rain that was held on the bottom of the blade would quickly streak up, as the blade wipes up. It would cause blurriness streaks on the bottom until the blade returns back down. This would be very annoying to see while driving.

A small amount of glass polish and then a good glass sealer, you won’t need the wiper at all.

You can control the wiper by voice commands as well, like „turn wiper to level 4“ etc.
Or just „wiper to level 4“
or „wiper off“.

What is the mileage per KWH?
Are these blades "special" from Tesla only, or do they use a stock blade for a big semi?
