I would suggest using barley if you are growing your own. It doesn't matter what grain it is, they will still just eat 5-7. So barley yields the most per hectare.
Barley is also generally the cheapest to purchase from the stores if the map has it enabled such as No Mans Land if you are doing a start from scratch style play through.
So because you didn't test it I wanted to see if the same value of 0 month chickens or 6 month chickens would be more profitable so I took a pen with 10 0 month chickens and 1 6 month chicken. After 36 months the 0 month chicken pen produced 34,860 eggs while the 6 month pen produced 14,630 eggs. Since chickens are so cheap it's not that expensive to fill the pen but if you theoretically couldn't afford to fill the pen you'd be better off to purchase more 0 month chickens which will fill the pen faster and produce more eggs faster.
Science!!!! I'd actually wondered about this and now, thanks to you, I don't have to science it out since you already have. Thank you very much and I look forward to the videos on cows, sheep and horses.
Thanks for watching, I did try and be somewhat scientific with this test, just out of interest which part of the video did you find particularly interesting?
The spreadsheet at the end. It was a nice and concise way to present the experimental data you'd accumulated and summarize your results. Showing your setup and explaining how you proceeded was good too.
I know I’m super late to this video but I’ve started playing recently and I think your Farming Sim 22 videos are the best and most well made and easiest to understand!! I do have a bonus question for you though- is it possible to move existing chickens from one pen to another new facility once you buy one? Say for example adding an additional pin or full production hen house- or do you have to start fresh with each new one?
Glad you like them!, t this time there is no way to move chickens from pen to pen unless there is a mod or a modded barn, you cant transport via trailer etc, thanks for watching, appreciate it!
Its good to see the whole Rooster debate put to bed, that test clearly shows they are on no use in the chicken farming, also can't believe how many eggs pen 7 produced!
I use an autoloading trailer, there are a couple of different one is use, there in the mod hub for console, cant remember which on exactly , but I use it on me Elm Creek Lets play.
Love the video and will probably start with a full-ish chicken pen in my game. Just wondering, is it optimal to go with a 75% full pen and moving chickens to a new pen to continue reproduction?
Great video, just stumbled upon your channel, and have subbed. Can you move chickens from one coop to another one? Say coop #1 is full of chooks, can you build a second one, move a number of chooks across so that can keep building up the numbers?
Hi Phil, currently on console there is no way to transport chickens from coop to coop that I am aware of, on PC there might be mods that allow you to do that. Would be a nice feature in fit could be added to all platforms. Thanks for watching 🙏
I play just the base game. With 2 coops, I make around 150k every year on normal economy. But I will have to pay some for the food, and take some time to move all the pallets. Most of my time is manually moving the pallet. Other time is to wait till my barley farm work to be done. Properly, if I build a new coop every year, the profits will increase but the amount of manual pallet moving will increase. Overall, it’s quite profitable, just not fully automated.
There is a egg shipping mod that allows you to transport eggs directly to production chains, auto load trailers are also a good option to cut back on the manual handling, Thanks for watching!
To circulate the age of the animal, how about this method? First Building a cage can occupied 360 chicken as the video. Second, buy 360 chicken in the cage. Third, buy another cage is small and can occupied 120 chicken and keep it empty at first after 6month, their 120 offspring is emerge and move to another cage. After 6month, they pass the puberty. Then, i ll sell 120 chicken that is in original cage. And the vacancy position will filled by fresh adult chicken by move from small cage to 360 cage
How did you calculate consumed wheat for pen 7 and got to 335 825 liters consumed over 36 months ? If you state 7 liters consumed per adult chick, then: if it's 7 liters / day .. 7 * 365 days * 3 years * 360 chicks = 2 759 400 liters per pen7 and 36 months if it's 7 liters / month .. 7 * 36 months * 360 chicks = 90 720 From other side .. 335 825 / 360 chicks / 36 months = 25.912 liters per month and chicken. So /4 weeks a month = 6.4775 liters per week and chicken, or /30 days a month = 0.863666' liters per chicken and day.
In an older game of FS19 I had 2 5000 chicken barns (mod) But I was only growing enough for about 2000 birds so whenever they reproduced I’d get slammed with grain consumption. It was epic… but I couldn’t keep up growing enough grain for them. A multifruit buying station mod would have been a perfect solution for my needs! but I never got that far before FS22 and haven’t done chickens since 😂
No, because the chickens are 12 months old to begin with so they will start producing eggs right away. And because there is 360 of them the pen is full so no more will reproduce. This strategy is all about max egg production. Thanks for watching 🙏
Hey mate it's base game, located in I the shed section or the silos section. It's called bale and pallet storage, I think I keep referring to it as a mod but it is base game. Got added by the Devs recently.
Thanks for your Nice tutorial ! Btw im not able to make Streets with my Paints and you write Numbers xD thanks for the kick in my Stomach. Really nice guide !
Thanks for watching, and thanks for the great feedback on the video, try this if you are using the painting tool, use the GPS on the left hand bottom of the screen it has coordinates, when you line this up to 0 , 90 , 180 and 270 degrees when you paint a line it will be perfectly straight so long as you can hold the mouse or or analogue stick straight!

This is a good point, thanks for sharing.

Really well thought out and explained. Great video
Thanks glad you found it helpful and thanks for watching!
Thanks AF, Helpful guide. What trailer etc are you using to pickup and deliver eggs? An autoload or are you using a fork to pick them up? Thanks
I use an autoloading trailer, there are a couple of different one is use, there in the mod hub for console, cant remember which on exactly , but I use it on me Elm Creek Lets play.
I tried using that trailer but I can’t unload the pallets in the storage, how do you do it?
Love the video and will probably start with a full-ish chicken pen in my game. Just wondering, is it optimal to go with a 75% full pen and moving chickens to a new pen to continue reproduction?
Depends, i Guess, I just look to max it out and start producing as many eggs as soon as possible

hey! love ur videos! i have a question about storage, is it autofilling from barn to storage?
Hi, you can get the egg shipping mod that will pass the eggs on in the production chain.
Was there an nerf on price, most I can get for eggs is $2400. Does it change depending on map?
This test was done on easy economy, and assuming best sale through the year. Different economic difficulty setting will reduce the money you can make

wow that sounds like alot of chickens! Thanks for watching!
Do you need to buy new chickens after 36 months for Pen 7 method ?

Thanks for watching, currently I am working on cows guide and also an advanced guide for cows too. Should be posted on the channel soon

Hey mate it's base game, located in I the shed section or the silos section. It's called bale and pallet storage, I think I keep referring to it as a mod but it is base game. Got added by the Devs recently.
Really interesting thanks for your time working on this
No problem glad it was helpful, thanks for watching 🙏
So I need tye rooster to let them reproduce?
Hi, Roosters have no increase on reproduction and are not required for the hens to reproduce,
so the better for eggs, 360 chickens of 0 months or 360 chikens of 6 months, in every coop?
If you go 360, 6 month old chickens they will produce maximum volume eggs right away, I usually run 3 coup, that way I get 18 egg pallets every day
Hope that helps! Thanks for watching 🙏
is it worth buying chickenfood on easy economy?
Yes I would say for sure, as it shows in the spreadsheet the return on investment can be huge

is the price of 1,800,000 per month? I have 2,000 slips, how much profit will I have then 2,420,000 per month. Did I calculate it correctly? 😂
Not sure, sounds like a winner if you are bringing that much cash!
It won't fit on my land I have to purchase a new land😢
That's a shame, Thanks for watching!
