The son was right to turn his mother away. Taking the word of a stranger over her son is one thing but agreeing to abandon him for her own interests is another. Even if she truly feels regret she made her choice and now she has to live with it for the rest of her life.

When I was younger my mom's ex boyfriend wanted me out of the house when I was 15 . He tried everything he can to get me away from her . When she finally saw what was going on she put her foot down and told him to stop the she was not going to give me up. His mother intervened scolded him, his dad beat him , he tried to kill me until my mom kicked him out , she walked in saw him beating me , he is now in prison , she left him took me and she started a new life . She now looks at me differently after what happened to me . He wanted me dead , my dad wanted to kill him .

Vanessa should have listened to Miles. Edison took advantage of her. Miles didn't even want her back in his life 12 years later. What Vanessa did was unforgiven.
Edison really manipulated Vanessa's life and now she has no place to go, no food, neither no clothes. Her thinking about herself instead of her son, she really didn't deserve to do that to her son

It’s never right to choose your lover over your child. Always put your child first. If you have to choose between them it’s not a great relationship and it’s time to move on and find somebody who truly cares about you.

The conversation between grownup miles and his mom really reminds me of my broken relationship with my dad. He abused me and my mom and sister and he chose power and control over the whole family. I will never forgive him just like how Miles will never forgive his ungrateful and selfish mother.
I know this is off topic but sticking with the whole sending her child away part and how the outcome was when her son rejected her after all those years is exactly why I take pride in taking care of my twins even though their dad is a deadbeat and I at times struggle. Loving your child and being there for them can be so rewarding.

As a single father, I'm there with you. I believe that single parents need to be with single parents. Not with people who don't have kids. That way we can understand each other better and have a blended family.
I am happily surprised with this comment thread. I’m Mexican. Light eyed light-er skinned Mexican. From a small town in central California. I had, in my teens, never experienced racism in any way. I used to have my mom put my hair in as many even braids as possible. I’ve always found African and middle eastern curls gorgeous. I’ve always admired seeing a woman of color with all of her beautiful hairstyles. I’ve always been intrigued and follow so many content creators that are of color. As social media became more prominent and I was kind of “forced” out of my small town, i have witnessed so much division. The thing is, how can we get over a sigma, if we don’t all hold hands and smash those damned walls down? We won’t always agree all the time that a style or fashion is cool or beautiful. But I say, if we can embrace it, why the heck not? I love when Mexican culture is embraced and shared. Women of color are extremely beautiful and I am all for embracing and praising that beauty ❤️

Forgiveness is everything! Miles had the opportunity to forgive his mom but he didn't and that choice opened the door to a negative flow of energy. He could have helped her out without allowing her to use him. After all, he knew her true intentions as to why she had shown up, he knew she was only there because she had nothing and he had everything. Some parents do some if the most unthinkable things to there kids, trust me I know, but harboring that hate and bitterness towards them only hurts you. Revenge is not yours to serve. Peoples actions unleashes their own karma. Sure it felt good at the moment for Miles to pay his mother back...at what cost? His mom became a homeless drug addict and died of an overdose. He tore his ACL and lost everything 😢. I forgave my mother and it was a huge relief. Although I hated the things she let happened, God softened heart to understand the things she went through as a child and a woman, and how all experiences effect our judgment as adults. This story really hit home.
I wouldn't have helped her out. If my mom showed up on my doorstep, I wouldn't help. I don't wish bad on anyone. Have a long, happy healthy life, but it's one that I don't want any part of. Don't have to give her money to have forgiven her, but I definitely don't want her in my life, either.

My Dad Richard Ribble is with an abusive woman, Cindy Len Potter-Ribble. She's abusive towards him & doesn't love him. I'm praying that he gets away from her soon & comes back home to my daughter and I, where he belongs. We love him. Although, I haven't heard from him years (again). My daughter Alicia hasn't ever even met him. She's 17. (2022).....
My mom's husband made my mom make a decision it was either me or him. She chose him. I couldn't believe it. It broke my heart. He even threw me off the couch and she just stood there didn't say anything or do anything. That's the one thing I can't stand is mom's or dad's choosing their spouse's over their own kids. It's not right. At least I have my dad. He would never do that to me. I'm thankful to have a stepmom that actually cares and treats me way better and stands up for me.
