I believe so too. As for the family's denial, we can't even begin to fathom what they are feeling/going through. Realistically speaking, that has got to be one of the most difficult things in the world to accept. Until I started watching true crime, I wouldn't have believed anyone in my family could do something like this. It's only because I've become aware of how many people get murdered by someone they know (including ex-boyfriend/ex-girlfriend), that I'd even consider such a possibility. Fortunately (or not), the only family members who have died have been from cancer.
And then not join in the searches and go skydiving?? And then that strange statement about people getting murdered and buried and then not attending the memorial services each year except that one and denying talking to the media... cindy holloway There's either a big family secret or an inheritance involved and his family don't want to lose it by accusing the cousin. That's the only thing I can imagine which would make them behave this way.. Even the brother, vehemently denying any suspicion on the cousins. 🙄 Also the girlfriend had something off about her... Very smiley and laughing about such a serious matter, when she was kind of involved in him getting into trouble in the first place. Could be on drugs or a little sociopathic.
Most detectives would dream of a case this easy to solve with this much evidence! Yet, these definitely dropped the ball. It’s blatantly obvious that Dylan never left the house after that fight. He was killed by his cousin and everyone in his family knows it or is in major denial. Rest In Peace Dylan.
So, the cops get a complaint about domestic violence and don't bother to show up for several hours. The mother phones to report her missing son but because she lives in another province she is told she can't report him missing. So the mom calls the "possible" killer and asks him to report her sons disappearance, he ignores her request. Family gathers and sets up a search. The last known person to see the victim alive refuses to help in the search and goes skydiving after making a comment that the victim may be buried in a construction site. The cops show up at the families search and ask for news. The cops say with a stupid smirk on their face that none of Colin's actions make him a suspect. This is the real reason why this crime has gone unsolved for 9 years, because the cops were lazy from day 1. Moral of the story is, don't go missing in Edmonton because the cops don't care. Look at their statistics. Pathetic.
@Sherry Dyck - you gave the best summary of this story in one paragraph! Mistakes made all over the place in this case. When they finally DO figure out what happened and find Dylan's remains, I think a lot of heads are going to roll for those mistakes.
You forgot Collins own mom suspects him, even when Dylan family is in denial. Parents know their kids and for a mother to get that feeling about her own child especially when parents first reaction is to save their kids not suspect them. Yea Collin killed or had some involvement and his own mom got that gut instinct.
@@sikhnation1990It amazes me his Mom doesn't want to believe it it was the nephew, the sister JUST KNOWS it was her son. That is one messed up family.
What weirdos? Knowing who did it & being able to prove it are two different things. The police suspect the cousins too, but you can't be arrested with 0 proof.
Lol...that sounds more like resentment at having to play the role of parent to a grown adult man who liked/was used to sponging off others. Not a motive to kill...motive to claim 'I don't give a crap...I am not going after him' ...b/c Dylan is not his responsibility. If Edmonton is a place that people frequently go missing, then it's entirely possible that someone offered to give him a ride then tried to get cash from him or something then leave him for dead somewhere.
No decent human being would kick a person out in that weather wearing That clothing under any circumstances never mind a family member.thats disgusting behaviour.
that being said, I couldn't agree with you more, by the way, Canadian police took an unconscious native and dumped him in the alley behind the police station, wearing light clothing at best, in the dead of winter where he died of exposure. No charges.
@Shorne Pubique i would have to agree with you. "Frank Paul was picked up by the Vancouver city police in December 1998 for being drunk in a public place. After his arrest, a sergeant at the city “drunk tank” refused to take him in. As a consequence, he was dragged to a police wagon and transported to a nearby alley where he was dumped and abandoned. Mr. Paul subsequently died in the alley from hypothermia. Mr. Paul was a New Brunswick Mi’kmaq native, who had a lengthy history of homelessness and alcoholism." @Kyle Lowery When someone already has hatred for another person, physical appearances fuel the fire. Attractiveness is seen as an advantage. Someone who is already disappointed with their life and angry at someone who is doing better than them will definitely form a hatred for their physical appearance too. It's all basic human psychology.
yeah he did it cause Dylan was better looking than him... he should've aswell went outside the house and killed every man he saw... you are projecting, men don't get jealous over such trivial things like women do...
I agree. ..n if they the parents esp the dad think that it was not a family member.....then all the best with finding who the murderer is. ..there'll be no closure for them.
Just days after his disappearance I was walking along Calgary Trail at the intersection on 34th Ave., his mom was putting up posters. It breaks my heart that they don’t know what happened. Devastating.
WOW... The family is really in denial. He left the house in below zero weather in jeans and a t-shirt and there has been no activity on his phone or bank card.... It must of been a alien abduction then.
so here's what most likely happened: the cousins were fighting and either accidentally or intentionally killed Dylan. none of them wanted to get in trouble so they disposed of his body in a construction site probably far away and now there's a building over it. it makes me wonder how many people are buried under buildings now and will never be found.
USA and Canadas Carpenters union was created by the chicago Mob. not only is it massivley profitable you can also discard someone and make it look like an accident.
I completely agree! At least one of them in that house know exactly what happened! How can the parents be so nieve to think that not one of them people including family members dont know. So sad, I hope they open their eyes and realize someone knows
Gee lucky Colin, the father of the victim and the police both helping Colin get away with murder,What did this poor Dylan do to deserve even his father choosing to be loyal to a murderer
I believe the cousins had everything to do with it... deep down inside the family know... & because they're in denial they'll never know what happened..
Edmonton AND Calgary police remind me of Sacramento in the seventies when Sac. had a blank check to bang people around, throw kids in jail white or black, confiscate cars, and being a state capital they could do anything. Yes, the black muslims were a big problem, but the whole police culture was raw.
Definitely seems like the first two detective dicks Mutt and Jeff thought the whole thing was funny in their interview. If I could have only reached though my screen...😡😠😡😠
Please, the cousin did it. Even after 9 years he wouldn't be interviewed. There is something more sinister brewing there. Why is the family afraid to call him out? The cousins days are numbered. They're coming to him
This is my opinion after watching the first five minutes of the story, the cousins killed Dylan and told the story that he left in the middle of the night. you don't have to be a rocket scientists to figure that out.
8:29 - when the cops smile (almost laugh) while saying they had a command center setup. Sad. Horribly sad. That cop is laughing at the family's attempt to find their son...
Rudy Zamora thats my point. Its so obvious. Sometimes I think certain things are left unsolved to just be left unsolved. They say they look at every clue and every lead. Well... what was the excuse for this one?!
I bet they killed him on accident and are covering it up, i dont think he left that house on foot, they wouldnt let the gf come there to get her stuff either cuz they were prob cleaning up the scene and gettin rid of the body!!!!!
My prediction...that investigator will retire (or already has if you could not find any updates on the case) and the next one assigned will not want to waste time on such an old case. Cases that old are extremely difficult unless someone confesses. The cousin(s) got away with murder.
I really wish just one of Dylans killers would at least call and anonymously report the location of his body so his parents can bury him and find peace again...
The problem with that (in any disappearance case) is that when the body is found there's the chance of the perp's DNA being on it. Even if the remains are skeletal, it's safer for a perp to not fess up to anything, even anonymously, because legally if there is no body found then there is no proven crime . So yes, it would morally be the right thing to do, but would only create potential problems for the perp.
@@MatthewNY94 actually they can still put together a case based on circumstantial evidence. They don’t have to find a body anymore. People got so sick of criminals getting away with murder because they hide the body that we are not buying that anymore. (When we know there’s been a crime committed.) They should’ve just taken cadaver dogs into that house and sprayed luminal everywhere and they could’ve put together a case that way. Then separate all of the housemates and question them until one of them cracks.Case solved. The cousins killed their own brother.
I'm from Edmonton and this is just scary and sad! The cousin did it and the cops need to get on it already. There is no justice for victims in Canada, you're on your own.
Everyone knows it and the mom is culpable too with her denial. Put a blowtorch to Colin's feet and you'll find out in 5 minutes. THere's no mystery here except why Edmonton cops aren't worthy of the name.
Unfortunatley very good EVIDENCE is needed for a prosecutor to file a case.... there is only ONE chance to convict... if there is lack of good evidence, the perp goes free and cannot be prosecuted for that criem again, not even if great new evidence is found afterwards
Birdie B. I am starting to find that out as I just started watching Fifth Estate documentaries. I just watched the one about John Connelly in Toronto where they rules his death as a suicide but if you watch the episode so many things don't add up! I can't even say the investigation was sloppy because there was no investigation!
Yup pretty much... How about the Dellen Millard episode, when the boyfriend of the ex-gf came forward with credible points why Dellen Millard should be a person of interest, they ignored it. If only they had followed up with it Tim Bosman would still be alive, and probably Wayne Millard
Why didn't they do forensics on the house too? If someone has gone missing, and a person had reported a violent fight and seen people beating one person, thats super alarm bells going off there!
So the feelings of others are more important than finding your son, seriously what kind of attitude is that to have when the last person to see him alive was his cousin who he had a fight with and the other roommates.
It's a shame that the family refused to fight for their son because the killers are family members. The irony is that those cousins don't give a flying F and keep sleeping soundly, even in the below comments someone pointed out that one of the cousins who was there that night is being in and out of jail. Who are these parents trying to protect?
Can you imagine how it might feel to find out your relatives killed your child? Your brother? Of course they want to be blind to it. If it comes out that Colin and Nick were responsible, think about how that will destroy the family. Its more pain than most families can handle.
I watch a lot of these. If I had a dollar for every relative, that said, "there is no way, that my son, brother, sister, friend, could have done this" I would be rich. It turns out none of us really know what others are capable of in the heat of the moment. 4 Alpha males together, plus alcohol, jealousy, anger, ego and pride, its a dangerous mix. Sharing the same DNA doesn't dilute that mix. They wanted to smack him around, they got too heavy handed, they killed him and got rid of the body. Conspiracy of silence.
Poor Dillion had no business with those devils!!! He probably just wanted to bond with them but had not a clue, there was no love there for him!!! They took him back in that house or drove him somewhere and disposed of the body!!! Might have cut him up and put him in the dumpster (AT A CONSTRUCTION SITE)!!!
Dylan was so Handsome. His cousin as well as the other roommates were “UGLY”. They were jealous of him. That was obvious due to way they behave. I am sorry for his parents and all his relatives for the painful outcome.
They either avoid it completely, or throw themselves head-first into helping, like the two high school girls who killed their other “friend.” Sheila murdered her and yet was the biggest helper with the search, crying with the family.
What is wrong with Canada and their police depts? Dylan died at the hands of his own cousin. It's obvious . This family has been through so much! Thank you Fifth Estate for bringing these cases to the forefront.
I understand Canadians are super sweet, polite, all that.... but COME ON. Could it be any more obvious that his cousin killed him? As an American, I’m just kind of stunned that the cousin isn’t already in jail.
J McIntosh yeah as a Canadian I can firmly attest to this. Its strange Canadians are sweet and kind but the police are just about useless. They don’t move quick enough and when they do, its disappointing and half hearted effort. They always say they are swamped but they dont seem to do much when it really matters. Its terrible and heartbreaking for the families who are actually calling the police for serious issues.
@@at5286 I've seen several videos lately about the Canadian police not doing their job right. Its frustrating to watch from Ohio. I can't imagine how you feel living it.
Such a very sad story. Not sure what's more disturbing, what happened to Dylan or his mum's lack of awareness or acceptance that her son's killer is among the family.
The night he disappeared his cousins quarreled with him! They were the last people who were with him and saw him! A fact that the cousin didn't want to be interviewed on any show. These cousins know very well what happened to him!
Even though they know he didn’t report the cousin missing after the mom asked him too and she never questioned that or found it suspicious, just nothing but stupidity all around
This is the highest hope I have ever seen and heard of that Dylan will come back. It sounds crazy how the father is denying the truth trying to save his relatives and letting his son rot somewhere unknown. 🙄🙄

Fortunately (or not), the only family members who have died have been from cancer.
I'm from Edmonton and saw the flyers everywhere. For me, the first red flag was when Collin did not call the police. Hello????
They did something to him..omg I can te'er ll just by the looks on their faces 👮🏻need to get on it...bet if his fam was rich they be looking.
I totally agree!
So many stupid people involved in this case from family to the cops. Sad for Dylan. RIP
"I'm not his keeper"?!!! Um. That's what Cain said about Abel after he MURDERED him

The famous words of Cain when he killed his brother Abel.

You summarized all the absurdities in this case. I had to scoff in disbelief at every stage of this investigation.
You forgot Collins own mom suspects him, even when Dylan family is in denial. Parents know their kids and for a mother to get that feeling about her own child especially when parents first reaction is to save their kids not suspect them. Yea Collin killed or had some involvement and his own mom got that gut instinct.

This is such a sad joke. A group of kindergarteners could solve this case better than these weirdos.
What weirdos? Knowing who did it & being able to prove it are two different things. The police suspect the cousins too, but you can't be arrested with 0 proof.
Amanda Dercole trust me the police know he did it too but they don’t have any evidence they can’t prove anything.

That's right!!!!
Lol...that sounds more like resentment at having to play the role of parent to a grown adult man who liked/was used to sponging off others. Not a motive to kill...motive to claim 'I don't give a crap...I am not going after him' ...b/c Dylan is not his responsibility. If Edmonton is a place that people frequently go missing, then it's entirely possible that someone offered to give him a ride then tried to get cash from him or something then leave him for dead somewhere.
colin absolutely did it. case closed in my opinion
Sad and so true.
No decent human being would kick a person out in that weather wearing That clothing under any circumstances never mind a family member.thats disgusting behaviour.
they didnt kick him out THEY KILLED HIM
You are soo correct! I could never do that!
From what i gather from the family its not curiosity that killed the cat but being so comfortable to there naive behavior
that being said, I couldn't agree with you more, by the way, Canadian police took an unconscious native and dumped him in the alley behind the police station, wearing light clothing at best, in the dead of winter where he died of exposure.
Dylan was gorgeous. His cousin was super Jealous of him. So obvious. He did it

Kyle Lowery she said jealousy and that happens a lot.
Yup!
@Kyle Lowery When someone already has hatred for another person, physical appearances fuel the fire. Attractiveness is seen as an advantage. Someone who is already disappointed with their life and angry at someone who is doing better than them will definitely form a hatred for their physical appearance too. yeah he did it cause Dylan was better looking than him... he should've aswell went outside the house and killed every man he saw... you are projecting, men don't get jealous over such trivial things like women do...

This is my opinion after watching the first five minutes of the story, the cousins killed Dylan and told the story that he left in the middle of the night. you don't have to be a rocket scientists to figure that out.

(When we know there’s been a crime committed.)
They should’ve just taken cadaver dogs into that house and sprayed luminal everywhere and they could’ve put together a case that way. Then separate all of the housemates and question them until one of them cracks.Case solved. The cousins killed their own brother.
The way the cops laughed off the family having a command center after they're son's been missing for a week. That's F'ed up...

@@hightopv1352our government and police are highly incompetent. We can't even defend ourselves in anyway here without being charged.
Same here in usa. You're better off investigating yourself than waiting for police to feel like it
Unfortunatley very good EVIDENCE is needed for a prosecutor to file a case.... there is only ONE chance to convict... if there is lack of good evidence, the perp goes free and cannot be prosecuted for that criem again, not even if great new evidence is found afterwards

every 5th estate video is just about the incompetence of canadian police
Just finished watching the one about John Connelly. Also very sad case
Google "fifth estate meaning". That should explain why every video is framed this way.
Helps to dismis the implication that Canada is some kind of all-loving paradise.
If Edmonton PD not ignored the neighbor’s call that night during the fight, the case may have been solved.
Why didn't they do forensics on the house too?
If someone has gone missing, and a person had reported a violent fight and seen people beating one person, thats super alarm bells going off there!
Exactly!🤔
So the feelings of others are more important than finding your son, seriously what kind of attitude is that to have when the last person to see him alive was his cousin who he had a fight with and the other roommates.
It's a shame that the family refused to fight for their son because the killers are family members. The irony is that those cousins don't give a flying F and keep sleeping soundly, even in the below comments someone pointed out that one of the cousins who was there that night is being in and out of jail.
Who are these parents trying to protect?
It was his cousins that accidentally killed him and hid his body at the construction site like his cousin said.

@Mike Williams I just saw you posted this 4 months ago, you still trump2020 😂
Omg the cousins are so obviously suspicious. Can't believe the family is too blind to question the cousins or demand answers.
